As stupid and campy as this movie was, it's still a fairly entertaining popcorn flick. It's got the perfect amount of cheese to make it enjoyable without taking itself too seriously. And Jon Voight is awesome in this flick: an excellent blend of charismatic and sinister.
I realized I still have a soft spot for this movie when I re-watched it last week. Pure cheese!
I think this movie would've done better as a comedy, given all the unintentional laughs it got.

This is the official movie of growing up in South Africa. One channel (etv) has played it so many times that it has become a meme. Possibly the most watched movie in South African history. 🤣 LOVE IT!

This is absolutely hilarious as someone who has worked with and kept Anacondas.
They’re a very slow moving species (on land), and the super fast ninja acrobatics that these movie anacondas make are pretty much impossible for an adult anaconda. They’re THICCCCC snakes, and while this makes them insanely strong, it dosent make them move quickly. They can strike quickly, but that’s very different from moving their whole body around like that.
They’re also not really a climbing species (because THICCCCCC), they’re capable of it, but it’s not something they will do often, they much prefer chilling at the bottom of a river.
They’re not going to “chase” their prey, anacondas, like most snakes, are “sit and wait” predators. They would much rather just sit still until an unsuspecting critter walks/swims/flies too close.
The longest confirmed anaconda was 36 feet. There have been reports of up to 100 feet, but they’re unconfirmed, and while I think it’s possible if one lived long enough and had plentiful food, it’s very unlikely, and whoever reported that length most likely was just afraid and over estimated it. But as far as we know, anacondas don’t get big enough to eat an average adult human.
I'd say the movie ones were titanoboas on bath salts XD that'd explain the aggressivity.
I saw this as a child and this... This is what made me afraid of snakes. This movie terrified me as a child.

This movie has a lot of nostalgia for me and I personally give it a 8/10 it’s very campy and cheesy but in a good way. I was entertained.
"Home girl from SC" implies that Jennifer Lopez's character is from South Carolina. I'm from South Carolina.

This movie is the perfect vehicleto express yhe acting ability of Lopez. the look on her face as she fires a bolt fired rifle like a semi automatic is priceless.She had a director as inept at directing as she was at acting.

Sarone's kinda like an Ahab type of character, but Chaotic Evil instead of Lawful Evil. Jon Voight plays him perfectly! He's easily the best thing about this movie.

Anaconda and Hunt for the Blood Orchid are guilty pleasures, but the rest of the films, including the crossover of Lake Placid, are awful all thanks to the godawful SyFy channel.
