    Papaya will start dying when temperature drop below 40 degrees at night, so in the winter, just use old and unused blanket or tarp to cover it and remove in the morning. Great video and technique of trimming off leaves and keep only 1 fruit per branch. Nice!

    I'm impressed by your produce. I planted a few trees so I would have to cut the bottom leaves, etc like what you did. Had no knowledge of that before. Thanks for sharing.

    Maybe you can plant your more frost sensitive plants along the south wall. That would stop the cold north wind from hitting them, and allow radiant heat from the block wall. You could also place an automated awning on your wall below the gutter system. That could be used on really cold nights to prevent frost.

    Heavy water your plants BEFORE a cold snap!! Old FL grower here. Never fails.
    Sounds like the FEC railroad going by, so I'm guessing your in St. Lucie County, or slightly North?
    With Global Warming, all our Zones are going to be changed. I'm in 10A, Punta Gorda, FL.
    What I'd like to know is how YOU prevent the fruit wasp from ruining your crop? It's sometimes a "curse", yes!

    Your weather sound similar to mine in west central Florida. Thank you for the tip on the suckers. I didn't even notice them.
    I plant my seeds in pots and keep them in the porch over winter. Then plant out around February. They are fruiting well and expecting to see some yellow soon.

    When is a good color to pick them? Can they keep ripening once you pick them?

      You can pick them when it peel change to yellow ,it keep rippen after it pick off from tree but i prefer wait till it peel turn yellow almost around the fruit it tast much better than you pick it early. Thank for your comment.

    I have a tropical warm house in Germany with papaya, bananas and pineapple plants. I also harvest papaya fruits.

    Thus year is my furst time trying to plant vegetables and flowers around my yard. I got lots of papaya trees this spring. I planted them too close by thinking they’re chillis. The leaves kept changing and its shapes. Now I have papayas everywhere. Some grew bigger than the others due to soil condition. Let’s see if I could save some from this coming winter.

    Thank you & question please. I just planted my first papaya. Am I supposed to cut all the bottom stems off and just leave the top stems? Most I see are bare stocks from the top down. I’m confused. Thx for any help.

    How do you keep your pandan plant survive the winter? I saw it's in the ground. You can't move it to the garage or indoor. I have killed a few pandan plants already and they are not cheap 😥

    What do you wrap around your trees when snow starts to fall to the ground, also all the trees that you planted I wanted to have in my garden also I love sugar apple so sour sop , I just want to know how to keep them alive during winter ❄️ I appreciate your feedback thank you.

    Are you in the Orlando area? I’m growing about 8 papaya trees in my yard and will use your tips for setting fruit early. Where did you find the trellis for your dragonfruit cactus?

      I’m in houston, I have guava , papaya, starfruit , barbados cherry, pessimon and a fruit called jamun growing, so yes you can hrow in Texas.

      First year you don't has to give any fertilizer bc new land it had enough nutrition to feed those plants.

      I heard you need a male plant to pollinate your female tree with. Only a hermaphrodite papaya tree can self pollinate

      The idea is to get seeds that most likely give you a fruit baring plant as known this plant can have a male /female plant....female that bares fruits

    I love papaya but the papaya in America doesn’t taste good because it doesn’t ripe on the trees in Africa we allow them to ripe on the trees before we pluck them and they’re very sweet , thank you for sharing anyway.

      if you put Epsom salt in fruit trees, the fruits become very sweet, from my experience. You only need to put a little bit.

    Hi my papaya tree is about 1year and no fruit.it got flower but didn't form any fruits.the flower is keep on dropping off i don't know what's wrong with it.i love your papaya tree got lots of fruits.

      sometimes the weather condition effects the growth of it or maybe you have a male papaya tree.

      No I got female tree cos the flowers is short not long...maybe its not too hot cos temperature is around 24degree..but my sister tree got fruits a lot ...or maybe her tree is older than mine.i don't know.but your one got fruits on first year that's awesome.
