Although Geothermal was my favorite track in the OST; I think this track came out the best. I laid out the rough draft for this track quickly, and moved on to rough out the next one. A few days later I came back to it to flesh it out, and finalize it. It stirred many memories, and emotions of moments in the game for me. I remember getting to the outer wall during my second play after taking the ride out from the island; letting the world become ravaged by the Doctor. My determination to stop him was greater than ever...
Track 20: "Moonsong"
My Cave Story recomp OST project. I have all of the tracks mostly mixed and mastered. I'm going to try and finish the final touches on every track sequentially, and release one every day. When I'm done I'll add a link for the OST in it's entirety fully tagged.
This all started when the Wii version came out, and I was speed-running Hell. I became frustrated (like ya do) and decided to switch over to the Wii music to see what Running Hell sounded like. Like every one of the new songs it was rather atrocious. Did they even try?!? So I decided to do my own remake of the OST. I started with Running Hell, and kinda never stopped.
You'll notice I didn't do too much "remixing" of the existing material, because let's face it... The OST was near sonic perfection as-is... I did what I felt at the time, and I'm rather pleased with how it all played out. You'll also notice there are no fade-outs. I don't do fade-outs. They've always made songs sound unfinished to me.

I got on the dragon because I thought it was the only option. But then the ending started and I realized I screwed up....also the artwork is nice. Really captures the moment.

I think Moonsong is my favorite Cave Story song now. The theme is another personal favorite, but the mood this one sets is fantastical~

I'm not sure if words can adequately describe the emotions that this song creates. It's like a deep longing for... something. I love it. It's one of my favorite pieces in the game, and you have done an absolutely fantastic job portraying it in a new way.
FUCK. There aren't enough words in the English language to describe how fucking WIN this re-composition is.
The polar star is red? Umm, thats the machine gun Mr.Artist... but the music is absolutely amazing...
@Jesiasan They are actually all completely composed, and 98% mixed. I took a break for a while before composing track 33: "White." (King's Theme) After finishing that a few weeks ago I've been doing the final mixing, final touching, and mastering. I should be done within the next week, or so. I took the first complete master for a spin in the car yesterday, and again that night on the home theater. It sounds great, but there's a few tweaks I'd still like to make…

I think that the music adequately conveys the feelings of "I will never run away again, I can't let that happen again" but I think the picture also matches the music in that way, in that the music is the very decision to try to save yourself or risk your life to save others in musical form, this picture is the illustration of this climatic moment.
@genowhril809 i always thought that sue's older brother was a weakling cus he wanted to leave his mom and lil sis behind. i think his name was sakuma or something.

This is, in my opinion, one of my favorite recomposed pieces. I always loved Moonsong- it is just such a peaceful song- and you just made it even better.
There were some good remastered songs, but I agree that most of them sucked.
I don't, but a channel named Crimsonum has one if you search for it.
You know...Moonsong is placed in a pretty good spot for such a beautiful tune
I took the "Puss out" ending first time since I had been failing to save anyone, and it felt right to at least escape with one person rather than force Kazuma to stay when he's already given up on Sue.
If "Canon" Quote really goes ahead and tries to save Sue...then he's basically doing it out of pure loyalty. Its likely Sue is going to die, but he's still going give up his chance to escape to try. That's beautiful.
"Canon" would be best ending, so... Everyone survives! Except for the Doctor and Ballos.

I always throght to myself, "well this is an ok song for the place but it could be better," when i first played cave story. But listening to this remix makes me love the song now. Thanks for that. :D
I may have already commented on this before, but this is still probably my second favorite remix of this song - the first being Sebastian Wolf's version.

Yeah, I know. I have that, actually. I also have it on Wiiware (and it's on DsiWare too). I just think, because of everything else Cave Story can be played on, it's unlikely. Still possible though-we got Snake, and when Brawl came out, there were no Metal Gear games on Nintendo systems.
That would be incredibly awesome. I don't think it'll happen b/c cave story is on PC, Mac, Linux, TI, and a crapton of other stuff besides nintendo. Still, I would never stop playing as Quote.

for some odd reason part of the song sounds a little like for endless fighting from Megaman zero I hope I got it right.

Would Cave Story be more popular if it was never released in 2004 but had been an early release for the SNES. Would it stay known for long on but be a side character of Nintendo like Link or Kirby? Or would it simply diminish like games such as Secret of Mana and Act-Raiser? Would it had be better if had just been released in 2004? This is what I think at times when thinking of Cave Story with nostalgia. All games will be forgotten, would it have been better if there was less people to forget?
