  • Today I received an early Christmas present, an EPOS H6Pro gaming headset. This is a test of the microphone connected directly into a Zephyrus G14 2021 with all soundcard enhancements turned off for the rawest possible sound. To test a more normal use case I have enabled a compressor and noise filter within OBS. The sound raw is practically identical which is surprising as it is rather a natural sounding mic for my voice with no real work.

    Dang, it sounds super clear and I didn't notice any background noise. Insane.

    There are so many people hating on this headset. And I don't know if its because they are using the closed back or plugging their open back into a tin can. For a gaming headset they sound amazing. I have compared them to my hd58x and the sound is so close.

      I think its a pretty solid headset to be honest even though its not the most comfortable. I have found however that windows enables "enhancements" on some soundcards that have a tendency to cause clipping... sounds terrible at times, makes some things sound really bass heavy BUT if you turn those off then it sounds like most other headsets :) Maybe other folk haven't tried disabling that option... not that they should really have to.

      @@LukeRoberts-Faulkes are you using an external sound card or amp?

      @@nashwalker7 no external amps or sound cards, at least not for this headset given it’s got low requirements. The enhancements seem to be tied to various sound cards in windows but not all. Thankfully my laptop has a pretty decent sound card so I can run most headphones quite well.

    I bought these and instantly returned them, tried on pc and ps4. Audio does not sound clear at all, it is then submerged by bass. Shockingly bad audio quality for the price. I just came from using hyperx cloud 2’s why are they so much better for half the price?

      same bro, so fucking disappointed. hyperx cloud are much more comfortable and have better/louder sound this is just sad for that price

      On PC bass issues are usually caused by audio enhancements on your sound card. Windows had some set and this was the only headset I had that doesn't cope well with them, distorts the lows like crazy, turn off the enhancements and they sounded like other headsets I own. Not the best but not terrible either. I don't use them for their audio but for the mic.

    How are you getting on with the headset? Mine arrived yesterday, lovely colour, very light. Sound is totally different to what I've been used to using with "gaming" headsets. I opted for open back too. I think I've 2 small gripes, the wire I braided and when it rubs against my cloths I can hear the reverb in the headset. The second is the headset creaks a little on the plastics. I'm hoping that after a little use that goes away. I've looked in hope that epos would do a non braided cable but they don't .... Yet

    Microphone is great, your voice doesn’t come through nasally or tinny like on most headset mics

      It's a pretty solid headset/mic. Totally recommend.

      These are garbage.
      I just got this pair and the mic sensitivity is way too much.
      I even went into my PS5 microphone settings and set it to the lowest sensitivity possible & still way too sensitive, causing my teamates on Call of Duty to mute me because they can hear themselves through my mic. They messed up big time on this microphone. I'll be returning them today at Bestbuy.

      @@JR-rp7vr I personally don't find it to be overly sensitive, I've tried your scenario where the mic is at its lowest level and it seems perfectly fine for me on my PS5. The issue you may be having is bleed, that is if you have the open back version like I have in the video. Its where audio bleeds out of the open back of the ear cups and is picked up by the microphone, turn down the headset or turn down your team mates... open backs are like that by design.

    Hey! I ordered the H6pro closed back yesterday. Is it necessary to buy an amp aswell if you want even better sound? I was thinking about getting the GSX 300 to go with them but I’m honestly not sure, what are your thoughts?

    • @LukeRoberts-Faulkes
      @LukeRoberts-Faulkes  2 года назад +1

      No need at all. It’s a gaming headset to it’s designed to run on anything and everything =) an amp will just make things louder.
