- Wikipedia: The STEN (or Sten gun) is a family of British submachine guns chambered in 9×19mm which were used extensively by British and Commonwealth forces throughout World War II and the Korean War. They had a simple design and very low production cost, making them effective insurgency weapons for resistance groups, and they continue to see usage to this day by irregular military forces. The Sten served as the basis for the Sterling submachine gun, which replaced the Sten in British service until the 1990s, when it, and all other submachine guns, were replaced by the SA80.
The Sten is a select fire, blowback-operated weapon and loads its magazine on the left, rather than the bottom, as is the usual configuration. Sten is an acronym, from the names of the weapon's chief designers, Major Reginald V. Shepherd and Harold J. Turpin, and "En" for the Enfield factory.[9][b] Over four million Stens in various versions were made in the 1940s, making it the second most produced submachine gun of the Second World War, after the Soviet PPSh-41.
Design: The Sten was a blowback-operated submachine gun firing from an open bolt with a fixed firing pin on the face of the bolt. This means the bolt remains to the rear when the weapon is cocked, and on pulling the trigger the bolt moves forward from spring pressure, stripping the round from the magazine, chambering it and firing the weapon all in the same movement. There is no breech locking mechanism, the rearward movement of the bolt caused by the recoil impulse is arrested only by the mainspring and the bolt's inertia. The German MP40, Russian PPSh-41, and US M3 submachine gun, among others, used the same operating mechanisms and design philosophy of the Sten, namely their low cost and ease of manufacture. Though the MP40 was also built largely for this purpose, Otto Skorzeny went on record saying that he preferred the Sten because it required less raw material to produce, and performed better under adverse combat conditions.[16] The effect of putting lightweight automatic weaponry into the hands of soldiers, greatly increased the short-range firepower of the infantry, especially when the main infantry weapon was a bolt-action rifle capable of only around 15 rounds per minute and not suited for short-range combat.[citation needed] However, the open-bolt firing mechanism, short barrel, and use of pistol ammunition severely restricted accuracy and stopping power, with an effective range of only around 100 m (330 ft), compared to 500 m (1,600 ft) for the Lee-Enfield rifle. - Игры
this feels suspiciously easy to make at home
The only real price Is being put in One of THOSE lists :(
Had 2 of them, simple but work great.
Never have never shoot a gun in my life, but I always wonder their engineering and art behind the gunnery ~
Does this gun often Jam?
@@shareeve7597- All you need is a drill, an angle grinder with some cut off wheels and some files and screw drivers and I’m sure you could make something similar in design and function.
@@chesterpandacomment tu fabriques le canon et les rayures ?
to be honest, after I first saw it, I was wondering if it was spring/gunpowder-powered. and after I saw this video, I was right. I just wasn't too sure how the semi/full auto worked. (from how I see it now, it's so easy, a western blacksmith could make this. it's got semi auto, full auto, even safety)
What’s even scarier is I heard a combat engineer was able to make 6 replicas of similar guns in one day. It is modern machining and all but still that’s absolutely terrifying and incredible.
A blacksmith couldn't make a machine gun. It takes machined tubing with a certain level of tolerance. Plus it requires welding or torch brazing at minimum. Also small parts such as the recess in the bolt face, extractor, extractor spring, and firing pin are tedious to make and must be finely tuned to work properly. Trust me, I know
you are right, blacksmith can only make such as revolver or single shoot gun.
You are actually right on both. It is spring initiated and continued with gunpowder blowback.
@@scapegoat1313 Your advice is certainly spot on. Making omelette is easy but not everyone can make the best tasting omelette. Looks simple yet hard to master. Same concept.
I actually have that app in question I'm glad it getting some love
SUPER, Thank you !!!
Excellent computer skills . Thanks for taking the trouble.
That's great thanks ❤️❤️❤️
terimakasih saya telah bertambah lagi ilmu, ternyata sten gun sangat simple
Mo ngapain bro?
It's looks like very Simple mechanism but works so deadly deangurs ,
Seriously I just love this gun, wish I own one.!
Then make one like our grandparents were doing back in the day
@@youneszreika I think that's a very great idea but I'll decorate it with a modern looking stalk. Hahaha! The inside mechanism is old but the outside looks the latest version of a sten gun .
Very good idea 👍👍👍

@@rongbongingti nah, Best gun! Liberator is the worst gun
Sten gun is like a toy gun.. Nothing special
@@rongbongingti The special thing about it is that you can easily make it yourself because it's so simple. One commenter even mentioned that it looks like the mechanism for Ballpens
Do you have the CAD for this?

I thought Stens were single stack
If you have the pdf I'll buy it from you, so I can make one
Have you got the PDF?
@@ahmedsayed9409just look up DIY Sten by Prof. Parrebellum. He designed a simplified version but it's the same basic straight blowback principle, haven't constructed it myself so I can't vouch for its reliability
i can make this in my garage 💀
Really? How heavy the bolt should be?
@@la2123 it was a joke about the simplicty of this firearm, i wasnt particulary serious
@@imgoinginsane..
it would be cool if you did know, it still seems ridiculously easy to make
I see.
Paso por paso
What the heck , I did understand very little .

ok so its basically a sideways british mp40
Not really, MP40 is more complex internally (although still relatively simple).
How in the hell does a shell ejector work? It just slams against the bottom of a small piece of metal and goes flying?? Explain how the fuck it works?? I first thought it was a spring when the botl went forward it pushed it down then springing back up when it went to the cartridge pushing it out, now I see it's entirely doifferent and I wanna know how it works
When the bolt moves back the extractor is hooked onto the rim of the empty casing and pulls the casing back into a little peice of metal called the ejector. When the casing hits the ejector it goes flying out the ejection port. That's pretty much how most ejectors work.
Maganda
Didn;t saw the ejecter...🧐
Yeah it's there but it's very hard to see.
