Never in my life did I imagine I would be mesmerized by sheep shearing. Yet here I am. Your narrration, the cadence of your speech and the timbre of your voice is so hypnotic for me.
I have immense respect for you to provide such an important service, with such care for the animals and attention to detail, and while educating and entertaining us. Very few people contribute to their communities in such significant ways anymore. Thank you!
Just wanted to comment. Coming from NZ, now living in Canada, I find watching your videos taking me back in time. I lost a friend from my early 20’s, Jimmy Todd, who was an amazing shearer. I watch him a few times in shearing and in shearing competitions. Like you, he had a way with sheep, there was a connection and of coarse talent and professionalism.
Why am I so relaxed after watching this young lady practice her craft? The animals? The soothing narration? Yeah, all of that AND she always teaches us something!!
Lass, you are a very clean Shearer. I am talking about no cuts. I worked in a 12 stand shed in western Queensland, Australia, shearing around 100 thousand Merinos. One man there would pink them all over, and the rest of the blokes got faster and rougher! Quite a few nicks, but that may be because of struggling sheep, skin wrinkles, etc. Anyway, nice to watch you in action.
I've watched these vids for a while. I'm in Perth area, and I hope you continue to help/shear these wonderful animals. If you're ever south of Perth, would like to offer a meal & tea. xx
Trop beau un plaisir de voir un travail effectué en douceur sur les bêtes. Ça change des barbares qui saignent les animaux avec leurs équipements inadaptés. Merci pour vos vidéos ça fait plaît 🥰🥰❤️
I could watch this all day and listen to her description of each process repeatedly. She has a way with words and i do hope shes writing a book but we need it on audio too. ❤
Thank you for your awesome shorts, and especially thanks for talking about the fleeces, their quality, and making roving for spinners! My Mom was a textile artist her entire life, including spinning, weaving, and knitting, and this just makes my heart sing. Also to people interested in sheep, fleece, and the art that comes from them, try and find a local fiber arts festival near you! An example is the Black Sheep Gathering, which takes place in Oregon. Cheers!
@kathyflorcruz552 She said it was super clean. She didn't give plain terms direct mention to the lanolin/oil content on this one. She does comment on it often. I suspect it because this is a colored sheep, and the lanolin would probably be difficult for viewers to see clearly, anyway.
I have no sheep but i goodness I’m in love with your talent as a shearer and the way you explain to us mere mortals of the way each breed of animal fleece you shear is wonderful, thank you
I’m a spinner because I had sheep for 4-H Didn’t like putting all my beautiful wool in wool pool so I learn to spin Have made sweaters from my girls black and cheviot love my black sheep but boy they were big ones Keep going miss my girls glad to see someone who loves sheep as much as I do
@abbiekenyon5942 I know this is old, but I agree. It's so difficult keeping the details together in messier comments like these. You get the main gist, but it's so easy to misunderstand. Then, some of them get angry if you ask for clarification, lol.
UK you're onto something when, your videos just pop up in the feed of a viewer that has 0 Interest in what you do, but still continue to view and like your content everytime it pops up, while also taking the time to look at the content in it's full, without ever thinking once to block your content or it's typing. Thank you for the awesome content that I did not know I needed in my life. ❤️❤️❤️❤️ Sending love to you and your team from Guyana, South America.
Yes you mesmerize all of us!! And what a surprise to think this is one of my favorite shorts on RUclips I mean really I never miss any of them when they pop up.. told you before and I'll tell you again, you are incredible, a great teacher, shearer, educator and animal proponent.
I love that you treat these creatures very humanely. Some are so badly nicked it makes me very sad and must hurt the sheep. Stay strong. Love these kiddos. ❤
Thank you so much for sharing! I spent my life hearing shearing stories. Oh, how is love to hear those stories today. My daddy would have loved your videos. He sheared sheep with my grandpa.throughout his life. Daddy passed away in 2021, he was 93.
It's very satisfying to watch the careful technique of sheering the wool and avoiding any nicks. I can tell you really care for each and every sheep or llama.
Love watching you work! It's absolutely mesmerizing. The amount of respect that you have for the animals is so nice and heartwarming! Hope you are having a great day!
I can't believe how enamored I became, instantly, of your channel. For a long time now. Not just the shearing, but you. The education, jokes, and your care. Plus, I love the amazing laid out end, how much there really is! 👍🏼🌊💙💙💙🌊🥰✌🏽
Im not sure why I find this so fascinating, but I have spent the last hour watching your videos. Your commentary is both hilarious and educational…love what you’re doing.
Gurl! You are so awesome with the knowledge and skill of your practice. If people were more like you carrying the appreciation for your subjects as you do, GAWD, the world would be a such better place!
I watched a video by 10 Acre Woods on the process. It's titled "Processing our raw sheep wool into roving" and it's basically a recording of a meet up where they taught some people the processes between shearing and spinning.
Loving the beasties, your WORK, their fleece, and the personality profiles you narrate... Rhapsodizing about the fleece, and it's all infused with slightly suggestive humor. 😜👍💖
It really depends on the breed! Then if they were coated or not. If not, fall shear usually can go for a little more money since they generally would be on pasture beforehand and there should be less VM (vegetable matter). The age of the sheep is also a factor. Lamb/hogget tend to be the softest, so the price is higher. Lots of stuff goes into price. But you can get a whole fleece as low as free from your local 4H kids (or if you have a college run shearing school). Then on the other end of the spectrum you have Teeswater prime fleece going over $200-300 easily for a full fleece
I’ve paid $400 for this fleece quality and color. Add to that about $125 to have it milled into roving. The CVM looks like about 8-10 lb of fleece; after skirting, 7-8 lb, probably 6-7 lb of roving but it’s so clean there could be more. Enough to spin and make several garments. I would ask if it is next-to-skin soft and if yes, be thinking about sweaters, vests, fingerless mitts, shawls, cowls and scarves. That huge fleece will go a long way and there are no second cuts because the shearer is a very talented and skilled shearer (adds to value).
I am getting sucked in to this channel and watching hypnotic videos of sheep shearing. It would be amazing to see The garment made from this fleece. I will happily volunteer to model it if needed.
Sheepskin is sheep SKIN. Their skin isn't shorn off, just the fleece. To have the skin included, you have to skin not shear the sheep. Ya know, kill it.
@@flash2tz Yes I know that I'm not an idiot. I live in a very cold place and to keep warm my bed has 8 skins sewn together into a blanket, it's a must to keep warm in the coldest months. Mine are white but I love the dark chocolate color and it would be much easier to keep clean than white. I also eat animals because my body doesn't tolerate grains and many agro. foods, it's a generic thing.
Whispers, you have great taste in color. Spinning the fleece into yarn then into double weave off the loom would keep you warm and the animal alive. I can see a buffalo check blanket with brown, black, white colorway. A blanket compared to a sheepskin piece would be lighter, more comfortable. Fiber Art keeps me sane and recommended!
For whatever reason, you have managed to capture my attention. I luv the detail and enthusiasm when you describe the coat, personality and background for each of Gods gifts. I also admire the respect you have for the animals. They deserve love and respect; thanks to you, they get what they deserve and are appreciated….as they should be!!!!!!

EXACTLY!! I'M ADDICTED!!
Thank you so much 💕💕💕
I didn’t not realize that’s why I keep watching until I read this comment.
Originally I like the visual of the fleece rolling away as it’s sheared.
Soo right!!!
Agreed
OH MY! My knitting hands are telling me What a Luscious sweater that would be!!

My older kids showed sheep. Never did the instructor show how to sheer them so well, with no nicks or cuts. Love to watch you and your discussions.

I love your videos! Those poor creatures must feel so relieved after being sheared!!
I LOVE spinning CMV. Her fleece is incredable.
You sound like a poet when you speak. I love listening to your narrations.
Wow. After seeing so many of your overgrown "clients", I can see the quality you're talking about. Stunning.
I would love to have even part of that fleece to spin!!!! It looks absolutely delightful and amazingly beautiful!!!
I love how you relate details about the breed/s you work with and about how the wool is used. ❤
She's beautiful. Thanks for giving us a little lesson about the sheep and the wool.
I love how you go in depth. You have such a love for your hobby, job, etc.
