I hope I don't sound controversial guys. I live in the Bolton area and the number of kids riding e-scooters irresponsibly on the roads when I'm out and about is mind blowing. They disregard traffic lights and junctions and ride across you when you're turning. Its a wonder that they arent being killed by the hundreds. I like the idea of scooters. Its a great way of getting about and deffo would save my legs cos of my wonky knee- but I do agree, if they are made legal, some form of licencing and insurance and registration plate and full indicators must be in place and a legal requirement to wear safety gear when riding one. I know it wont stop the cockwombles that ride like idiots but it might stop a hell of a lot and at least if someone hits someone whilst riding, that person can claim compensation. I'll go further and say it should be extended to cycles too-including all e-cycles. Of course Mark and yourself are consumate professional scooter riders who aren't "born to be wild" lol. In Manchester, and in Milton Keynes where the scooters can be hired, you dont see riders acting like morons. Maybe its because like you said, they have to give details before they hire so they are accountable. It'll be interesting to see the outcome of the trials. Much respect🙏- Kenny
Problem is, even if you needed some form of license plate, those kids would still disregard the law anyway like they are now. I have just come back from Spain and its legal over there and so many adults use them to get to work etc without the need of number plates, so it does work fine, it's a case of the Police just need to crack down on those kids you mention. If you add licensing, insurance and registration then that takes away the appeal of low cost transport. Maybe insurance should be advisable or mandatory but the pricing needs to be kept low and attractive to get cars off the roads that are doing journeys less than 2 miles!

again , i agree. I'd be able to carry one in Viv-i-van too. Not enough room in her for a big e bike and to be honest, \i've not ridden a bike since I was a kid lol, so I'd probably fall off. .....Having said that , I'm slowly coming round to the idea of selling my house and getting something like a fiat ducato based camper van to live in full time so there'd be more room for a bike and I can always fit it with training wheels🤣

Excellent video. e scooters can only be a good thing for the environment but the powers that be need to legalise them everywhere, and put in place the necessary identifying and insurance paperwork.

Interesting facts . As a professional driver I can say I hardly see any e-scooters now compared to a few years ago .unfortunately don’t think they’re for me but def good if there are ample lanes to keep you safe . Looking forward to Ireland x
hi pat yes as the uk can’t make there mind up or be bothered to put in a infrastructure and law people have stopped using them in the uk as you risk either points or the scooter being confiscated ….. only people in uk using them are kids which is why people don’t like them they have got a bad rep

We have the same problems in Australia each State has different laws. They are banned in the State where we live (South Australia) but we go to Qld in the winter for 3 months and they are legal but you have to follow the laws, ie speed, where you can ride, helmets and so on. I will be checking again before we leave SA. This was very informative. Thank you.

Thank you for this, guys. Following on from Kenny's points, I think the idea of escooters is great as long as you have responsible riders. I live in Bournemouth and it's young, thoughtless people who seem to mainly use scooters. They ride on pavements really fast - if you're in a queue waiting for a bus - God help you!!! I know of a lady in her 70's walking to the supermarket, and was hit by a rider going fast on the pavement. She has a broken arm, bruised knees and the rider sped off so no accountability for him!!! Until we get legislation in UK, escooter riders can do what they want - and they know it!!!! Sorry Lisa and Mark - you're brilliant and probably don't want to hear my negative comments. I speak as I find. Love your videos x
We agree with you, they urgently need regulation. We do not use them in the uk in public on private land which is vary rare.
Until they are regulated, which will not be for at least 2 more years they will be subject to abuse and left to the police to deal with.

I think electric scooters are a brilliant way of getting from A to B. You are youthful adventurers and clearly have fun on your scooters. I think scooters are handy for all ages. I've a neighbour in her seventies who can easily manage such a simple mode of transport and did till the regs prevented her trip to the shops with her backpack!I did see one with a seat on and lid for storage. Had it not been for current regs I would have bought it, instead I use my dutch style bike with a cute basket and rack. It is ridiculous to assume scooters are more dangerous than bikes as they are easier, no pedalling needed. As far as I know there is NO age limit thank God!

Looks like a good scooter and like you said if it's legalised with insurance and number plates I think it's a good thing. The UK needs to get to grips with the rest of the world and make them legal with the relevant paper etc.
I think the government have looked at cost to make correct cycle/scooter lanes like the ones we have featured in our Europe videos and thought it would cost too much !

I love my e-scooter I have an off road version because I found it better when there are bumps or drain covers on the road that can be a hazard, providing a much softer ride. I choose it also because it had indicators that make it much easier to let traffic know which direction I am going. It is a shame that in the UK they are illegal [most likely because the police force have lost ability in dealing with criminals who buy them to mis use]. E - scooters have been a good purchase for our motorhome trips because of all the prohibited motorhome parking in many towns.
The majority of people who would buy these scooters are NOT criminals !! That's tarring everyone with the same brush, I want one and I ain't no criminal, also pc jobsworth would confiscate it, NOT FAIR
May I also add that age should not be a barrier to any form of pleasure and if you live life to the full you are not wasting away like a wilting flower. Never ever stop rocking in the free world,there are no medals for old age! You are not even old I know, but some are never young and never happy!

We have several people pass our house on electric skate boards . They look very dangerous . As they ride them sideways they are fairly young folk as well.
if you check our passed vlogs i reviews a E scate board found it easy … it’s the people that ride them that make them dangerous just like driving a car❤❤❤
@@NorthernersonTour I think your very right there. I am forever seeing stupid people driving cars. Having worried for many years , met them in there as well, not always happy endings sadly. But some folk think they are invincible., which in turn gives bad names to things .

I love riding electric escooters i have a couple but i tell you theres more benefits & perks riding that then gas combustion vehicles. I cant stand the noise of loud noise gas vehicles plus you lose money doing payments on gas, car insurance, or even getting something repaired from mechanic. Im the only one in my neighborhood that rides this things lol. I geuss many dont care about it or dont have the money to buy electric P.E.V.

Please he careful using your e scooters they are not designed to be used on pavements or public places and many e scooter riders have died using them on Roads .They are silent , have not proper control in stopping and their are now increasing incidents happening resulting in peoples deaths.
My daughter is severely injured by an e scooter being ridden across a pavement by a man who drove it directly into her as she was walking across the pavement intending to go into a shop.My daughter has suffered multiple Injuuries including surgeries to reconstruct her arm and hand and Body and head Injuries as her head impacted the ground.She is lucky to be alive Many others are not .An 8 year old boy and 70 year old lady in our area and both caused by people using e scooters in public places where they are not designed to be used .
In my daughters case the person was arrested and charged with dangerous driving set for hearing in our local court.The person who killed the boy was given a custodial prison sentence and Thank fully the law is now changed so people using e scooters can now be dealt with same as anyone using a motorised vehicle in public places.Their is a difference in Law concerning electric bikes as they can be Insured .So please he aware of this and use your e scooters carefully not to halm people.
If you watch our previous videos in Europe you will see we used the regulated cycle lanes which are prolific in Europe and mostly on roads or designated sections of footpaths. The review featured me riding the e scooter for 10 seconds on private land here in the uk as the law stipulates not legal for road use as they are considered plevs.
We encourage the use of them correctly and using correct safety gear and hope that when they are finally legalised here in the uk they will be regulated with licensing and insurance, similar to that in countries like Germany.
By the uk government doing nothing it encourages use of private owned e scooters by people who consider themselves to be above the law !
I’m sorry to hear you daughter was injured by one of the inconsiderate users here in the uk.
Unfortunately regarding e bikes, there is no uk policy for insurance regulation and I would suggest most users only insure against theft and not liability. E bikes generally carry a higher weight ratio than e scooters meaning a collision could have a greater degree of damage especially when taking into account the simplicity of removing the speed restriction on them.
