Buckley looked different class. Gallagher was continually fouled and got nothing from the ref. Brittain looks flashy at times but creates very little.

Players still working out how Eustace wants to play, once he's had chance to work with them I'm sure we'll see much better balance to the team.

I have to say I'm getting a bit concerned about how we've been approaching some of our recent away games. It's starting to look like we're trying to army crawl our way to safety during a run of games against opposition we should be trying to beat. Cardiff should have been there for the taking, given their poor form and how many chances they've been conceding recently. But we barely managed to trouble their goal bar a brief flurry of chances around the hour mark. And our tactics in the away game against Birmingham were also questionable. It looked like we were playing for a 0-0 when we should have been capable of trying to get three points. In fairness, I probably expected us to lose against Preston. But I would have expected to at least win one of the two games against Birmingham and Cardiff, and certainly get at least four points from these three away games. Instead, we've ended up with two.
I cannot stress enough how horrendous our final run of nine games is this season. We have to go away to Boro, Sunderland, Bristol, Leeds and Leicester. We also host Ipswich, Southampton, Wednesday and Coventry. With the exception of maybe Wednesday, where exactly will the wins come from here?
Since the West Brom game we've been on a fairly nice run of fixtures on paper where we've needed to get as many points as possible, regardless of managerial change. We have only four games left of this run and have so far only won one league game during this period. After Saturday we have Swansea away before hosting Millwall and Plymouth. I would say we have to now win at least two of those without question. Trying to grind out 0-0s in these games will not cut it.
A number of the teams currently below as are getting their hardest fixtures out of the way now, and will be left with easier close season run-ins than us. Before we start our final nine game run-in I would want to be on 45 points at least. But is that going to happen realistically?
A win against Norwich at the weekend would bring a lot of relief, but what are the chances of this happening? Norwich are currently one of the most in-form teams in the league. They have many of their long-term injured back playing and their starting eleven is pretty potent. They could easily do a job on us this Saturday.
I'm usually a glass half-full supporter, so I don't tend to raise concerns like this. But it currently feels to me like we're wasting some of these games trying to keep a clean sheet for the sake of it, rather than taking the game to the opposition more and getting the three points now before we hit our really difficult run of fixtures. Do we really want to find ourselves - at a later date - going into games against Leeds, Southampton and Leicester needing a win?
I wouldn’t be as concerned with the recent tactics if we had a more balanced season run-in, with the trickier games staggered between now and May. But we’ve probably been left with the hardest season run-in out of any team in the league. Once we hit mid-March it is relentless.
The manager clearly hasn't had a fair amount of time with the players to impart his coaching style fully upon them, so I 'm not making any judgements on Eustace in this respect. But he is responsible in part for the extent to which the team are trying to go and win a game at the moment. I just hope this doesn't all backfire on the club this season. Three points will get you to safety with something to spare, trying to 0-0 it from here could just be asking for trouble.

No need for apologies Mike. We all got lives outside of football

Don't get too downhearted about the performance Mike. This period reminds me of the time when Hughes came in and we basically kicked our way to survival. I'm sure Eustace knows the score and will get it sorted once we've survived. Agree on Chrisene and Ayari.

There are 0-0 games that are some of the most exciting games I’ve seen, even with a lack of goals…this was not one of them.
