Thank you, Angelica! Documenting processes - I think it’s a must have so that the team knows what’s the best way to go through a process. Depending on the company, documenting a process can be part of the project or program manager role. Typically, product Managers use the processes, but not necessarily create a new one. So think of product managers as consumers of these processes.
I got 3+ years of experience in Amazon India. Currently working in Workforce Management as Analyst I and previously also worked in Microsites Team handling process level projects. Ambitious to peruse higher studied abroad (Ireland/Germany/UK). Could you advise what could fit in here basis my experience and could really help me flourish in professional career with good salaries. Thank you in advance, your video contains organized information.
great explanation Diego, I loved it. By the way which one is better to have, Agile PM Foundation or Prince2 Agile Foundation certification? what you say Diego? :)
Thank you, Burak! About your question - which certification is better for AGILE? I don’t know, I’m not very familiarized with agile certifications. Which certification is better to break into PM? Neither. An agile certification is not needed at all - this might help instead! It’s a step by step guide to break into Product Management: pmdiego.substack.com/p/if-you-want-to-break-into-product
Thank you @sukhamrit! I don’t have anything specific for cracking the pm interview at Microsoft, but you can think of it as behavioral + case questions ;) take a look at some of the other videos in my channel and that should help!
Hello Diego it was a very helpful video, i have a question do we need an MBA in IT to get these roles? Or a bachelor in IT Engineering can also get these roles? Moreever can a fresher get any of these roles?
No, you do not need an MBA and yes, anyone can get into these roles. Check out this guide to break into PM: pmdiego.substack.com/p/if-you-want-to-break-into-product And this interview about PM at Microsoft and MBA: ruclips.net/video/jdW5kDQksZo/видео.html
@@PMDiegoGranados It was very insightful, you asked and felix answered all the questions i had thanks a lot and already sent connection requests and followed both of you on LinkedIn 😊.
Thanks for your question, Julio! Delivery Manager is not a very common role in the industry and many articles talk about how it's often confused with Scrum Masters. That being said, I think that the role they have - ensuring that the team is following best practices (typically in Agile), and that any blockers are removed, among other things - is critical for the project. In many cases, if not most, where there are no Delivery Managers - the Product Manager will be responsible for doing these tasks. I personally have not worked with Delivery Managers, but sounds like it'll be great to collaborate with them! What are your thoughts on Delivey Managers? Have you worked with one or are you working as a Delivery Manager?
@@PMDiegoGranados Thanks, Diego! Now in my company, they decided to remove Product Managers and have Delivery Managers, trying to do Project management but doing Scrum. In my experience working in product teams in different roles including Agile coach and scrum master, a delivery manager is the most accurate role name for those companies that want to be agile, but want/need to have this management level. I'm not saying that is ideal, just that is how companies think is the best approach to become agile
Thanks for sharing your experience! That's something I've never seen before (removing Product Managers and move their roles to delivery managers). I'll definitely do more research on that.
Hi Diego, very insightful video! Can a resumé be built for both project and product management? If so, Would you be able to review my resumé for both roles ? I sent you a request on LinkedIn, would love to have a virtual coffee chat at your convenience!
Thank you, Laeticia! Check my video on Creating a Product Management Resume - it might help answer some of your questions: ruclips.net/video/Qok3dYJjdWM/видео.html The skills that you need for Project and Product Management are similar in certain things and yet different in many others. At the end of the video (how to create a PM resume) I talk about maximizing your chances by tailoring your resume to the job application. If you are looking into Project and Product Management roles, I suggest you have 2 versions of your resume.
You are right Luis, in fact most of the time the name Product Manager and Product Owner is used interchangeably. Companies very often use Product Owner to refer to Product Management. If you want to learn more about PM, you can check out this video: ruclips.net/video/dJmg4ODH0YY/видео.html
What other questions do you have about project, program or #ProductManagement?
All 3 roles requires sign offs from "stakeholders". Who are these "stakeholders" most of the time? Strategy team / Ops team / Corporate team?
Hey Diego this video is suggested by one of my cousins who got into MSFT as incoming PM insernship!
