I bought the X100s in 2013 and mine is one of the early models having the serial number 272. It was not easily available in the UK at the time so I imported mine from Hong Kong. Despite having a room full of pro gear the Fuji X100s is still my go to camera for personal work. It has travelled with me across Europe and the USA many times and has never produced a poor image. A photograph taken with the X100s won me the title of photographer of the year in a competition run by a regional newspaper here in the UK back in 2014. It was the camera I grabbed to record the first pictures of my new grandson a few weeks ago. If I had a complaint it would be the battery meter does not show the battery discharging it gos from 100% to zero without notice so I have learned to carry a spare battery.

    Two notes,
    1. As always I get tons of comments about price from people either looking locally in an expensive market. Or doing the lazy search on eBay to see crazy ASKING prices from scalpers who take a shot in the dark (not expecting to sell). As I have said before, a good deal doesn't sit and wait for you. You need to have a couple of trusted sources and check regularly. Ive seen several well bellow 400 both in stores with warranty and eBay in the last couple of months.
    2. I forgot to mention another plus with these older versions with older processors. The battery life is really good 👍

    • @beckmp4
      @beckmp4 11 месяцев назад

Hi Mattias, thank you so much for your encouragement with all of the time and effort that you put into reading and reply to your comments on top of all of the other work that you do. If I may (😅), I can't speak for others, but for myself I don't believe that I'm being lazy. I understand that the deals aren't waiting for you and that you have to do the work of a hunter, but I feel that I lack those trusted sources and other knowledge and skill needed to find those low prices. I've watched some videos in the past that give advice on how to make better searches, but I didn't have much success putting into practice what I learned from those particular people. How did you get so good at finding great bargains? I would love to learn and improve and I'm sure that others would also greatly appreciate your teaching with whatever you're willing to impart if you would further elaborate on your points. If you've already done this mentioning a direct reference with a link to it in this video and-or in the description might be helpful. Thank you for your patience and understanding and, as always, for your excellent videos and beautiful photography.

Yes, too large, too slow, but it makes you want to take it with you, it makes you look ate the world as photos, makes you shoot and experiment. Also, love the nd filter (I have it under the fn button, perfect).

Prices for the X100 series in Australia are quite high. A photographer I met bought the original for around $250 AUD, and then when the X100V shortages started prices for the original X100 went up to around $1000 AUD.
I considered going for the X100V when it came out but couldn't justify it as I have the X100F, which in my opinion is still an amazing camera today.

Traded in the X100V and bought a XE2. Best decision ever. Love the Xtrans II and I love being able to swap (prime) lenses, even vintage lenses. Happy days, never missed the X100V. Newer is not always better.. for me

Last year i bought X100F in facebook marketplace for $250 with lcd off, fix it with lcd replacement only $25, best find in my life. Then sold it $600, because i much prefer my trusty X70 for my shooting style, thank's to your X70 old video, welcome back my lord mattias 😁

Thanks for your video! I got interested in the X100 series, but financial restraints pointed me towards the original X10, I bought it 3 years ago and haven't regretted my purchase. For me, it's the perfect 'edc....Every Day Camera', 12mp are still more than enough, and the zoom lens is a dream.

All the hype over the X100VI tempted me for a while, especially given the (promised) better availability of the new model over the V. However, after some thorough consideration and reflection on my actual use of the camera over the past decade since acquiring it, I will just hang on to my X100S. It has some surface scratches and nicks (mostly from the previous owner - I bought it in around 2014) and the diopter wheel fell inside the housing, but I've always loved the image quality I get from the sensor and lens combination. This video was a nice reminder of what a nice little camera this remains.

I agree, the S is probably the one to get. I have the 1st gen X100 and it's so slow it's distracting from photography (constantly missing good photos because the AF either misses or takes too long). I had the X100S and don't remember having such problems.

I love my X100F. Was able to get one for about $500 US BEFORE the release of the V in Like New condition. The big advantage to me for the X100F is the D-PAD. I can have so many more shortcuts, it's really great. X-Trans 2 is still a solid sensor.

Had the x100s and swapped it to x70. No regrets on that front. Just took a year to get my hands on the x100v. X100s is far from a fast camera but looking back at the images I took I am very impressed.

I’ve had the pleasure of owning all the x100’s except the v and they are all my favorite cameras of all time. I own multiple camera models in my possession (Sony and Fuji) and I always have a x100 in the mix.

I own and purchased my X100S in 2014! this camera is with me everywhere I go. Last year, 2023, I decided to send it to Fuji here in the USA, to their repair and maintenance center in New-Jersey. I have scratched the display by carrying it together with a small tripod. The display still works as it should, but I wanted to fix it. After calling Fuji and being told to send it, it was returned to me in the same state, with the laconic message: too old, no spares...
This is why I would not purchase another Fuji camera again. If I replace my X100S, it will be with a Leica Q3.

I bought the x100s new in 2013 and still have and use it. The autofocus is painfully slow by today’s standards, but it’s such a great camera to hold and use. I agree 100% that the simplicity makes you slow down and think about what you’re doing. That’s not for everyone, but if you’re up for it, it’s very satisfying.

Good to see you return - after all I still own a Nikon Df purely down to you - and the Fuji 100 series does interest me - its where I will buy when my Leica X typ 113 packs up, as Leica sadly abandoned their APSC fixed lens range, and I have no wish to buy a Q.
Hope you are well? And that you are back for good.

Just got my x100s from eBay, the x100s within the States is going for around $600 to $700+ depending on the seller. I managed to get mine for $500 plus tax with a lot of accessories including a bag. So far it’s definitely worth the money and I’ll be using this a lot and getting used to Fuji cameras.

Good luck with that. It will be a long time before Fuji catches up with the preorder demand. As long as you have some other bodies to keep you interested in photography you will be alright.

My favorite x100 is my x-e3 with vintage glass. Though I am close to getting my first AF lens for it. XF 18-55 or a prime like Xc 35mm or some 50mm from Samyang or Viltrox. Dunno.

I wanted to ask, do you still use the Pentax Q or have you sold it?
I'm really thinking about hitting a Q right now. and the dealer here has a good deal on a used Q :-) I just have to find a good argument for my wife. She seriously thinks I have enough equipment. Is that to be believed???? xD
Otherwise, I love my Pentax K3 and Pentax K1 II

Hah! I watched this video 3 weeks ago... And I am back! Been on lookout for a 2nd Fuji camera for a long time, so my wife and I can shoot together on our travels and other family outings. I was looking for a used X100 series camera for a long time, but they are almost as elusive in my country, as Nessie, the Loch Ness monster... Today I found an used X100s at my local camerashop in pristine condition - really, it looks like it came from the factory yesterday - with only 19400 photos taken, one year of warranty, for 500 Euros. I bought it immediately.
