Story 1: just a few charges that Op’s teacher could’ve faced: 1.) willful child neglect, 2.) felony child abuse, 3.) felony assualt, 4.) Abuse of a person of an at risk population.
yeah...that teacher is damned lucky...if it was my mother she would have been screaming while trying to beat the teacher to death and my father would have just walked in quietly and shot her, no words needed...glad the shit i had to deal with was never that bad...just had to deal with one teacher sexually harassing my mother, to which she got the guy fired for...then again...what i am talking about was over 25 years ago
Don't forget attempted murder, destruction of property, denying one's use of medical device, intimidation, hipa laws I'm sure were broken. I could probably go on. And these people are what are teaching children.
Ya as a typ 1db you wont die with out it for a few hours but and that is a huge but , your suger will go high and land you in DKA "(Diabetes ketoacidosis) and that is rough basically sugar normally should run around 100 but in DKA you are around 250 and up and that will make you puke everything you eat or try to drink you will be normally hospitalized for a few days so yaa what a pos i would have decked that bitch, do they know how fucking expensive insulin is? Without insurance there's no way in hell I would be able to afford insulin
The scary thing about the insulin story. What would have happened had the pump been doing its job at the time the line was cut? That teacher could potentially have killed that child. Why there were never charges of any kind brought baffles me. Or at the very least, she should have been fired on the spot.
@@DigitalCowboy000 Which means the parents were too nice for their own (or their child's) good. A teacher like that needs to be taught a harsh lesson that that behaviour is NOT okay. Even if they were headphones that would still have been wilful destruction of property. You don't get to destroy someone else's property just because you don't want it in your classroom. At most confiscate it until the end of your particular class, and maybe report it to higher-ups.
@@Sanquinity it doesn't matter if anyone else agrees with it or not. It was the parents decision. Also, I think that the parents felt like she learned her lesson.
Not giving any support to the teacher, because this was out of line whether or not it was speaker wires, she was wrong. However the insulin pump would respond to , I am guessing 😢here a blood sugar af maybe 150, with 1-2 units of insulin. It is not an ideal level, but is very far from life threatening. Our bodies can tolerate more variation of glucose on the high side than low. Had she taken away a juice box for a low blood sugar it would have been a much more dangerous situation.
@@DigitalCowboy000 Just like it doesn't matter what you think about this either. The teacher got lucky the student had kind parents. The rest of us Mama bears would have ate her alive. No body no crime.
Attempted murder is false as it happens when you actually plan out but it goes the other way I would say she gets no jail time for what could’ve happened as it didn’t but a giant fine
@@Zoro_D_Lost but didn’t she plan out to cut her device. i get what you’re saying though. it’s a similar charge that i know im gonna say it wrong, but the one where neglect can lead to death. it’s like attempted man slaughter mixed with negligence
Why did they all gloss over the fact that the teacher was under the belief that she was destroying a students personal property and only apologized after finding out that it wasn’t earphones
She only apologised, imo, because she realised that she couldn't get away with it. If it were headphones, it wouldn't have been seen as a big deal and the student would be in the wrong so the school could have tried spinning any arguments. A bit of expensive medical equipment? Op's family could have sued their ass, it would have rocketed through court in their favour.
@@charleenlangley8709 Plus, everyone at the school is a Mandatory Reporter. The principal and VP more likely than not told her exactly what they were required by law to do about what she had done and what them doing that would result in for her and then made an illegal deal to protect her if she apologized on script.
@@charleenlangley8709 No. Destruction of private property is a criminal act. Period. There is no nuance on this one, no arguments that can be spun. "I'm mad at you, therefore I get to break the law" is not something that a court would take seriously, if the judge was at all competent.
My brother is diabetic, and if he had to call our mom for something similar, she would be showing up to the school with police in tow. The part that baffles me is the fact he didn't have any transfusion sites at the clinic. We were always required to keep some of those at the school in case it came out. It is just some adhesive, so it isn't uncommon that it falls off. Does he call home every time it comes off while at school?
Sounds like this teacher's apology was her being handed a script with "This is what you WILL say, and you will mean it. Or you are the one being thrown under the bus."
Back in junior high some bullies threw my school supplies in the gym shower. The principal made them write apologies to me but they were still horrible to me a year later. Long story short, I am now terrified of black people. I did literally NOTHING to them and they still hated my guts for some reason.
If I was the mother in the first story, I would have not allowed a single discussion about these things: 1. She would have an invitation to court, no matter how often and deeply she asked for forgiveness. 2. My kid would never step a single foot into her class. If she ever gets her as replacement techer, I would tell her to leave the room for the lesson and I would excuse her for every missed lesson.
The first story reminds me of something my sister talking about regarding a classmate. Don't know if that was diabetes or something else, but they had a device on them that would regularly check their status and give instructions and could signal the emergencies by itself. For an exam, the teacher who was monitoring the room demanded that they put the device away along with the things unnecessary for the exam, thinking at first this is a phone. The student explained that it wasn't, that it was a medical device, but the teacher still demanded the same thing because "You could have hidden something inside to cheat". Reluctantly the student had to oblige, and fifteen minutes into the exam, the device starts to beep very loudly as it cannot do it's check nor is it getting any reaction from the student. This enrage the teacher who starts witch hunting on who brought something making noise into the class. Less than 10 minutes later, firefighters barge into the room ready to take the student to the hospital (they arrived faster than the ambulance), and after assessing the situation and being told about the device, they EXPLODED. One of them started to yell at the teacher, telling her that the tampering of medical devices can lead to thousands in fines under criminal law, and the endangerment to years in prison, and that they themselves could put her through huge fines without the need for court but just a phone call for the false alarm she caused. Then proceeded with a long lecture about the risks for the student and the price of medical equipment, until the ambulance arrived as well, and they leaved to meet them on the way out. When the paramedics arrived all they did was checking that the device was in good condition while shooting daggers at the teacher, then they leaved as well having more important things to do. The teacher did not get into trouble as no harm happened to the student, but got the whole humility pie down her throat and spent the rest of the exam in complete silence and still half as livid as she was during the lecture.
It was probably the receiver for a portable heart monitor that checks for arrhythmia. She took it out of range, which made it think that the student’s heart stopped beating and that EMS was required.
First story: If I'd been that student's parent, I would've not only gone off on this teacher, but pressed charges and had her fired as well, and you bet your ass I'd threaten to sue. Absolutely no excuse to destroy someone's private property, regardless of what it is. Those parents showed much more mercy than I would have if my child was put in danger like that.
Most lawyers would probably be salivating over a case like this, what with how cut-and-dried it is, the school district was in the wrong, and they knew it.
I agree. Imagine if the mom wasn't available to answer the phone, or couldn't get there in time. That kid could have died, and it wouldn't have been an accident
Story 1 is more proof that schools are among the least safest places for children. I'm also very surprised that the teacher wasn't fired and the school wasn't sued.... any good lawyer would've gone after that teacher and school like mad.
Agreed. That kid needs to file a report at the orginization that school belongs to and if nothing is done about the teacher, press charges for child neglect/abuse.
I agree, as someone who has congenital heart defects, teachers and principles are assholes to disabled people's. I got physically assault and verbally berated by my principal for using something I had permission and was advised to do. I'm glad I'm finally out of there
@@dreamingdarkrai9010 The principal at the high school I went to was rather accommodating to them, as is her replacement. I mean, we're talking about a small high school in a town with a population of roughly 1,500 people. The average graduating class consists of twenty or so students. Mine was considered a "large" one and had fifty in it. Now, keeping in mind how few students there are, the two bent/bend over backwards to ensure that all of their students' needs were met. They even went as far as having an elevator installed when just one student was injured and needed it to get around. Just one case amongst many. Though, I do have to admit that I liked the one who was there when I was in high school. She was also more inclined to take a student's side in matters involving issues with teachers vs simply taking the teacher's side. Especially if said teacher had.......a repetitive history of causing trouble in the school. The one there now is actually a former teacher of mine. She's got a good head, and genuinely does seem to care about the students under her charge, but if it comes to it, she'll side with the teachers over them, even if the teacher is clearly in the wrong......And I can safely say this due to interactions I've had with her, seeing as one of the other teachers I had was one who......somewhat rubbed me in the wrong way, and was constantly trying to interfere in my personal life to make me do things the way she wanted versus what I wanted to do or what I believed to be right. And we're talking about matters she had no business sticking her nose into, and yet.....did! She sided with her every time, while the principal at the time basically told the other teacher to back off each time we had one of our little spats. Personal interactions and history like this give you an idea of how a person runs or will run their ship.
Story 1 as a fellow type1 diabetic, if that kid had not realized that she cut his pump tubing and went all day without insulin the kid would have ended up in the hospital and the teacher would have been facing much more serious charges for endangering this kids life
During high-school my chemistry teacher had a severe dislike of me and upon hearing that fist story I will never be more grateful I have omnipod bc I was only yelled at for having a dog whistle when the pod stopped delivering insulin. Said teacher also had type 2 diabetes and should have known it was my insulin pump I was mortified and had stopped taking insulin at lunch a few months into the year and 6 years later I still can't properly check my sugars or insulin at meals it stays with you when something like that happens
That's what I was thinking! I am type 1 too, and there are times it seems like my pump isn't even working and it's so frustrating and scary. I don't understand how the teacher did not at least get fired for being a liability to the school district! If I were the parent, there is no way I would have let it go with an apology. Even if it were 'just' headphones, the teacher had no right to even touch it, let alone try to destroy whatever it was!
Story #1: That teacher is lucky the OP's mother was so in control of her anger. At some of the schools I grew up attending, the parent or family member would've came into her classroom and mopped the floor with her in front of all her students if she did that to the wrong child 🤭
If it happened at my school prior to my final year then they would need Fire Police Tactical response Ambulance And maybe a coroner. No kidding had one angry perant who was ready to beat the 💩 outta a staff member 😂
I believe in this instance that if they wanted to sue the school, they'd have a VERY compelling case that I think most lawyers would be salivating and tripping over themselves to get their hands on such a case
In the first story, that abusive, criminal teacher should have been sued and criminally charged. I would sue the school as well. I have seen teachers like that, and they should not be anywhere near children.
See, teachers like in story 1 exist and deserve to be sued and charged. I have hypoglycemia (body produces too much inssulin so I have low blood sugar) and had an IEP stating I am allowed to have juice in the classroom and have a small bag filled with juice at all time (school was a strict water only during class type of place) I knew my blood sugar was getting low one day when we had a substitute and went to take a juice box out after testing my blood and seeing how low it got. The substitute proceeded to yell at me, take my bag with the juice in it, including the juice box I was about to open, and promptly throw it all out...including the bag (a lunch bag from the store) i got up, ready to go to the office to report what happened and she proceeded to yell at me again for "getting out of my seat without asking" she even blocked the door. I had enough and screamed like someone was trying to kill me as a last resort because I could feel that I was on the verge of passing out. Thank god my art teacher was down the hall and heard because she came running and asked me what was wrong. My sugar was so low that I was slurring my words, and thankfully, my friend was able to tell our art teacher what happened. The teacher told my friend to run to the office and get me a soda and the principal while she helped me sit on the floor before I fainted. The whole time the substitute was saying i was seeking attention and just needed detention. The principal came with my friend a few minutes later and handed me a pop and some apple slices before chewing into the substitute teacher. My friend told me that the secretary was calling my parents. Long story short, parents came, and I was helped to the office by my friend and principal while the sub was told to follow us, and the art teacher took my class to her current class. Sub was charged and lost her license to teach. My parents and the principal came to an agreement that the school board needs to put more procedures in place for other medical issues than just diabetes and disabilities.
In the second story it sounds like he is a amazing person, he's not doing it on purpose and it doesn't seem like he knows the mental distress he's causing. Being open and taking about it in my opinion is the best thing to do. In any relationship it is always a good idea to be honest but not intruding, and if something arises talk. Arguing or just cut off communication is ALWAYS what ends relationships.
As far as it seems he is just stressed and when your stressed and struggling to move fast or fix a problem fast, sometimes what seems like minor force isn't, like closing a drawer or tapping keys, Its pretty much natural, leaving you alone seems to be where trauma is affecting him abnormally, compared to a normal not traumatized person, though the cafe shit is where the line is definitely crossed beyond my understanding
Psych for him and if you are even treated well but you end up constantly upset and can't understand why he loses it please for your own health get out. His behavior is abuse and you do not deserve or should make excuses for that.
My sister's teacher stole items she confiscated from students. The teacher even refused to give the item she took back when my mom went in and talked to her.
My fourth grade teacher had a couple of quirks. If someone wasn't paying attention, she'd throw her chalk in their vicinity, even if they were all the way in the back of the class and say "I dropped my chalk". If someone other than the target student went to pick it up, she'd make them sit down. Please note she threw near, not at the offending student. She'd also walk around class during quiet work/reading time and look inside everyone's desk. Essentially the desks were a table top with a shelf underneath enclosed on three sides. If a desk was messy she'd dump it in front of the kid an make them clean it up. That always scared me because I was a messy desk kid (still am at 55), but she never spotted mine, or maybe she made an exception because I got good grades. Anyway she was known around the school for her temper and weight. Her name was the one no third grader wanted to see on their last report card, telling who your next year's teacher was. There was song parody about her that kids would pass down from year to year.
I had one of those as my fourth grade teacher. I was also the super-intelligent kid who could pretty much be described as "chaotic neutral." We had a chalk thrower. I pegged her in the back of the head with her own chalk. The principal and I had a little talk (the end result was that said teacher never threw chalk again). The teacher who wouldn't deal with bullies because "words don't hurt" was told "You're right, they don't hurt you fat-ass c***." This ended in the principal's office again because "words don't hurt." She ended up doing her job. I was truly an absolute horror. I still am, I'm just a lot more subtle.
You're lucky. Our history teacher would throw the wooden blackboard rubber (chalkboard eraser!) AT you if he thought you weren't paying attention - and he was a bowler in cricket!
I was definitely the problem child with an instructor like this who did markers instead of chalk. "Now pick it up and bring it back." 'Nah, you could use the excersize.' I wonder why she always tried to nitpick me after that. =P
Same thing happened to me about insulin pump. Back in early 2000 an admin ripped my pump tubing out of my body thinking I was texting while walking to my next class. Also had a teacher grabbed candy out of my hand in class and passed out from an unexpected low blood sugar. Luckily my friend kept icing on her and tried to force me to eat while waiting on the nurse to run to my classroom.
So I have a friend who has T1D, and I know how serious this is in story 1. If he lived like an hour away, it could have lead to actually hospitals being called. That is awful what that teacher did.
the teacher on story one should have been fired on the spot and put in jail for at least 2 years. She could’ve nearly killed that child just bcuz she thought that he was secretly listening to music. Even if he was, who gave her the right to cut an essential part of a life-keeper device? she should also pay for the damage and get fined $15,000
As a sister of a T1D who also has a few other conditions, I am angry about that first story. My brother has had some incidents with teachers and other staff, but never something like this. There were incidents where, if we could have afforded a good lawyer, my parents would have pressed charges because the incidents violated his IEP, and since this would have been even more life-threatening than those incidents, I think they should have pressed charges. Type 1 diabetes is not something that should be taken lightly. Even if OP was listening to music, they could have still pressed charges for destruction of property. Teachers are already given plenty of leeway with students’ electronic devices, but what she did was unacceptable.
Your family could've gotten a lawyer who would've represented them with a promise to pay upon winning the lawsuit. Had there been enough witnesses or other proof, any good lawyer would've absolutely crushed that case. And if they couldn't, they don't get paid, so your family would've been fine either way.
For the second story, I can see how hard it is to deal with someone else's outbursts. I find it hard myself dealing with them because I am also a very sensitive person, emotionally and otherwise. I have an SO who does often get upset about things, and sometimes maybe a bit more than normal, but nothing like an adult temper tantrum. The way I try to help him through it is reminding him to breathe, to give him a hug, to validate his feelings, and he usually benefits from this. I've been able to help him overcome a lot through just being there and showing compassion. If the OP for the second story is trying that hard to help their SO with those emotions, and to no avail, then it's probably best to take some times off, even if none of the outbursts are directed at them. Good luck to anyone dealing with situations like these.
Some people also need to work out their frustration and anger alone. Her need to make things better might not be what he needs. They need to talk and work out together what they need to do together or not. I had this issue as a kid and even now still I can catch myself stewing in my anger. I need to walk away usually step outside and get some fresh air to clear my head I can’t stand to be hugged or caged up. Which sounds like what he was trying to do when he left the cafe. I had to learn ways that worked for me to work through my emotions in a better way. It seems like he still needs to learn this or he’s working on it but he is not emotionally abusive to her. She likely just needs to step away and let him work it out or he needs to step away.
In middle school I put a cough drop in my mouth, the teacher saw me and made me spit the drop out in front of the class. Seeing the odd item in the trash she asked what is that, so I told her. She apologized to me in front of the class. From that time on I could eat all the candy I wanted she was afraid she might be wrong again.
My school district banned all OTC medicines. Including cough drops, eye drops, and even tylenol and midol (for period pain) girls who had birth control pills had to leave it in the nurses office and get permission to leave class to take it on time. Eventually enough parents complained and they were allowed to have their birth control on them but everything else otc was still banned.
There was someone missing from that school meeting - law enforcement and/or a prosecuting attorney. Of course she was really apologetic- she was terrified. She could have completely ruined her life.
One of my classmates has type one diabetes and all the teachers are usually pretty nice to her but one was really bad My classmate who we'll call "mia" always had a lunchbox on her desk with some juice and alot more . Most of the teachers always said "why are you esting in my class?" Mia then always said "I have diabetes" so then the teachers are always ok with her eating in class but one teacher said (after Mia said that she had diabetes) "Thats not an excuse young lady , dont eat in my class !" And the teacher then grabbed her food and threw it in the trash . Mia used a phone to see how much bloodsugar she has ( i dont know anything about diabetes so correct me if im wrong) and her phone beeped all the time and the teacher then grabbed Mia's phone from the desk and puts it on the teachers desk . Mia then said to the teacher that she needed her phone but the teacher didnt care and got fired (i left out alot but i will maybe put that in the replys if enough people want that )
I was a diabetic for 27 years. If I had been that kid, I would NOT have been as calm as they were. Thankfully, I didn't have to deal with stuff like that as I didn't become diabetic until I was 18 and only a few months from graduation, If I had been the parent in this situation, I might have spent a few days in jail!
@@xXBadBitchJXx I was waiting for someone to reply something like this. On May 13 2022, I had a kidney/pancreas transplant. I am, indeed, diabetes free.
Even if the teacher thought it was earphones, what kind of sane person would just up and cut someone’s technology out of the blue? Like, I paid for that. It’s my property. You can take and confiscate it, but no way in hell you can cut it. I would have rioted.
In the last story, I'm not surprised that she is struggling to find a job she likes. I think it's good advice to let her look for something outside of corporate America. Since money isn't an issue, you could even let her stay at home for a few weeks or a month while she's looking for a job she likes. She probably did end up getting a little unlucky with the positions she got from the sound of it. I'd say, go for it. Reach for the stars. Look for something that can you can be happy in.
I agree that could be a solution but at the same time she seems to enjoy her jobs genuinely in the beginning from the way the story describes it. It's just more of a thing of she gets tired of it after a while. The soul of traveler who can't stay in one place too long otherwise they get restless. Just in the work environment. It's very reasonable to think that this problem would continue even outside of working corporate jobs.
In my School a teacher thought she caught a girl with earbuds so he yanked the cord to yell at her only for the life to drain from her eyes as the kid cried and started bleeding since she yanked her hearing aid and took parts of the eardrum she was sued into oblivion and the child was permanently deaf after that and the school closed for a week since they got hit so hard because the mom worked for an amazing law Firm
definition of murder in oxford dictionary: "the unlawful premeditated killing of one human being by another." So no this couldn't be murder or attempted murder because this certainly wasn't premeditated
If I was that principal I would have made sure the student was alright, called a sub for the class then explain over the intercom to the school why this was unacceptable.
First story: I am honestly surprised that the school board didn't insist that she be fired because of the MASSIVE liability she exposed them to. She must have been related to someone in the school board for that not to happen.
I don't know if the boyfriend in the second story is necessarily being emotionally abusive at least intentionally. But he clearly has some very serious issues that need to be addressed and he's allowing those issues to go untreated and dictate how he behaves. The way the original poster describes that behavior 50 60 years ago that sort of behavior would have gotten you locked up in a mental institution in a heart beat. And they may want to consider if they really want to continue this relationship.
Worst case, he needs therapy for his anger and emotions, but this is 100% not emotional abuse. Have emotional problems but still able to not direct it towards your spouse is proof he loves you and respects your boundaries. While it’s not good to have these, it’s how he is with his spice while he has them that shows his intentions.
Could be even possible he has undiagnosed autistic spectrum disorder the plans changing can be really triggering i think even his dog was picking up on it at the coffee shop
you think the teacher's union would ALLOW that? don't be silly... I men its what should have happened, but the teacher's union is almost as insane as the police unions. in shielding people from punishment when they ae obviously in the wrong
@@SirberusKhaos yes but she still couldve been taken to court NO MATTER what type of union is in the way. also, in the situations where the teacher is caught doing something wrong I've seen that 9/10 the teachers union has little to no say in the following action
That first story had me fuming. My best friend in school had Type 1 and Type 2 heavily runs in my family (nothing to do with obesity, it's just genetic for us). How someone could forget that one of their students has such a life threatening disease is beyond me. She should have absolutely been fired on the spot. Even if it was head phones, who gives her the right to DESTROY someone's property!? Yanking it and apologizing profusely would have been one thing, but cutting it!? What on earth is wrong with you?
1st story: I’m a diabetic and sadly this kind of thing is common among teachers. Even with an IEP. The amount of times I’ve been berated for having my phone which I also use as a medical device is way too much. It’s also pretty common for other kids to steal your devices thinking it’s not allowed or that you have games or something. ALSO she destroyed her pump, when insulin is SO expensive AND PUMPS THEMSELVES ARE EXPENSIVE. I’m super impressed on how they didn’t sue.
Story 1: That teacher should have faced felony battery charges. Also, if you think it's bad with the line between normal tech and medicine blurring, imagine having your cellphone as a way to manage your insulin and monitor blood sugar levels and then needing to get into a courthouse. If you think teachers are control freaks, wait until you meet a glorified mall cop with a government badge whose job is 90% confiscating cell phones and 10% actual security work.
Story 2: i personally have a trauma and PTSD because of it. If i get threatened or scared by eg one of those thick PE mats, i get angry at anyone who is touching it at ALL when i see it lying on the floor. Not just angry, but "i want to choke you and break your leg" kind of angry. Its really hard to deal with and it took me 7 years of weekly therapy ranging from talking about fears and triggers, to play therapy in which situations were replicated with toys. (Mind i was 6 when therapy started). I recommend seeing a therapist and maybe getting a thorough psychological exam to find out about any other mental illnesses or disorders. For me it really helped when i started ADHD medication and taking something personal or something that i hold dear with me to places i found scary or triggering, eg i took my favorite plushy to school. At the time of writing this i am 13 years old, still dealing with the PTSD, because i go mental when i see a surgeon for some odd reason. (My trauma was about a surgery i had when i was 10 months old)
Story one should have been hit with the book. She knew that what she was TRYING to do was against school policy in the first place, and what she actually did is anything from child abuse and beyond. She said sorry because her job was on the line and because she was scared to be sued, and the Principal probably was scared too. I'd have said at least that I wanted my kid removed from her class. Some teachers shouldn't have been allowed to ever set foot in a school as an adult.
So since this was during the days of WIRED headphones I find it amazing that she saw the "wire" from the pump but no wires to headphones and still cut the hose.
Lesson learned: if i had a kid with a medical condition, I'd make an appointment with the teacher ahead of the start of the school year to go over everything with the teacher. Why? Because people are lazy don't read even if it's important documents. It's why some snakes sneak things into contracts since most people don't read them... anyway, then I'd also give my kid strict instructions, that if a teacher ever tries to take away their life saving devices, they are to go directly to the nurse or principal and have me called right away. For this situation, I'm super glad the teacher didn't try to rip the cord off the body. That would have hurt badly. Some people shouldn't be teachers and we need to do something to improve schools overall.
The first story is CRAZY. What that teacher did was in no way ok. Even if it was headphones/earbuds like the video said, that is destruction of property. OP was put in danger because of an extremely reckless teacher and I’m really surprised the school wasn’t sued or the teacher was at least fired. A story from me (not nearly as crazy btw): I was drawing in class (yes, I know I shouldn’t have been and keep in mind that the teacher who was a substitute that day was reading a book and I was listening to it while being able to draw at the same time) the teacher came over to me and told me to give them my paper. I complied without a fuss, thinking she would just put it on the teachers desk but instead she looked at the drawing, and tore it to shreds. I was shocked and really upset because it was one of my best drawings and I started to cry. I think I overreacted because it was kinda my fault for drawing in class. However, I do not think what she did was justified. She could’ve told me to put it away or take it to her desk but instead she decided to destroy it right in-front of me. I’m not saying I’m in the right her either though because again, I shouldn’t have drawn in class. What does anyone else think? Was she justified in destroying my art?
Story 1: gonna be honest, that's a call to the police, screw the school at that point, that's blatant attempted murder... and before someone comes screaming of "oh she didn't know" guess what? That doesn't matter to a judge no matter how much you want to say it does, I've personally watched people go to prison for FAR lesser crimes, this teacher would have the book, the locker, and the kitchen sink thrown at her for something like this. No apologies will ever fix a cruel and uncaring action such as that.
I grew up with a grandmother that is a bipolar narcissist and I can 100% confirm from what you are describing that that woman is a narcissist. All the times she is nice to you when you had a bad day at work? It’s feeding into her ego that you’re relying on her for support. Every time she brings up that she saw another cute guy and you have competition? That’s feeding into her ego that even if your relationship ends she still has a ton of eyes on her. The fact that she ‘got used’ to her previous relationship and left? Absolute horrendous narcissist. She may not be a narcissist, she could just be an awful human being, but either way that relationship is not healthy for you
Story 3: that’s such a dropped ball. That is literally the commentator’s female bias showing. She is telling OP *what* he needs. Someone who has changed will not say they changed. Someone who denied advances will not say they denied advances. *UNLESS* they either want attention or they want to hurt the other person. This is more than games. The GF quite literally told OP that she looks at other men [in a more serious manner then just looking], downright leaves partners for no reason after they get attached, and has the capacity to be physically abusive. OP *should* 100% ignore AITJ and run for the hills.
@@nai5949 I think that was the second story and yeah I wanted to comment on that one but decided to let it go. This one though was like, yikes because he is essentially advocating to stay in a toxic relationship.
This is just reminds me that there are schools in my country that not only confiscate student's handphones but also destroy them in mass without their parent's consent as well, it doesn't help that the teachers who destroy the phones are smiling gleefully. Confiscating them is one thing when it does disrupt the class, but destroying it without both the student and their parent's consent is a big wtf
All I'm gonna say about story 1 is thank god that most modern insulin pumps don't use a tube and instead have a direct injection system built into the pump itself, it makes them a lot more robust.
No, a pump always has tubing. What you are referring to is a pod system, and not everyone can use one. It was not appropriate for me because I need too much insulin throughout the day, and the pod can't hold that much.
That first story really makes me realise how b** teachers can be like- I can imagine a teacher destroying my inhaler because she thinks I’m doing dr^gs in class, when instead, I’m suffocating. I can imagine how it’ll go as well, as mother would be at work in London, and father would kill someone if I called him up. But I can just imagine how scary that would be for her.. poor kid. But the fact that people can IMAGINE having to go through that- well
1st story: can't understand OPs parents. If I would gave been in their place I would for sure gave her charged for any damage she did - and would gave trued to gave her fined for what she did
Story one: ah that calm, cool and collected anger with the slightest hint of one wrong move, answer or expression and I will unleash the righteous fury of a thousand suns. Teacher and the school district didn't dodge a bullet they dodged the Deathstar laser.
If I were the op in the first story, I would have ripped that teacher a new one, walk/run to my locker and dial home to tell the parent at home what had just happened, I am amazed that the op and their parent had stayed calm and level headed throughout the whole ordeal
i can relate to story 1 cause in 2nd grade i was having an asthma attack (I have stage 4 severe persistant asthma) and my teacher took it for the rest of the day because I had used it the day before and she "Did'nt like the sound of the albuteral steroids coming out." and I could'nt breathe for 2 hours and almost landed in the hospital. and hen my mo arrived and my teacher got fired but she sucked anyway nobody liked her
If i was the mum, I would have straight up not talk, and go straight to court for child abuse, damaging of property, and abuse of child of an at risk population.
First story. Pumps are expensive so I definitely understand everyone being angry especially when told ahead of time. I’ve heard in the past though of some kids having difficulty with schools when they had to give themselves shots cause teachers assume drugs
story 2: mental illness is a vary scary thing and that is what it sounds like now im not a doctor (i have to say that ). in my filed of work i help people with multiple different disability's and it sounds like the partner in having some struggles. remember outburst, and some actions are scary but most of the time a cry for help
this doesn't even sound that bad, he's not yelling, cussing perfusly, braking things, or even taking his frustrations out on her in any way, pretty much every one, no every one, in my family has worse out bursts
Stuff like this is one of the many reasons I will not have kids, even if I ever had the chance. I just imagine my actions in the place of this mother, and my ass would be in prison. The teacher would not of been on the receiving end of a calm but stern lecture, but a haymaker with the fury of the Hulk behind it.
As a very large man who wouldn't hurt a fly unless it threatened my family, and as a man who has scared his wife in the past due to emotional outbursts never directed at her, this video has opened my eyes a bit. Thank you.
alright i’m not saying that it wasn’t pretty terrible what that teacher but as someone with diabetes i can confirm that it would’ve taken like a lot more than 15 minutes for their blood sugar to rise to a critical level unless they just ate and the food was raising it. still pretty shit what that teacher did. at one point i didn’t have insulin and wasn’t sure if i could get it that day i literally had to come to terms with my own death and i know how scary it can be
Story 1 is just mind blowing. Go on the mom for calmly enforcing the beyond not ok reaction the teacher had. Story 2 hit I left a partner who had the same blow up it started as things in their environment. It turned on me we ended in a fury . What was dressed as a health dynamic turned abusive.
"Care to share with the class what tunes are more important than listening?" "It's 'Trouble' by Shampoo, ma'am, because that's what you are now for cutting the tube of my insulin pump!" That teacher is lucky she escaped without even being sued for assault. Or, at the very least, made to apologize infront of city hall.
Among others in my family, I have a cousin who is a type one diabetic. When insulin pumps were fairly new, a teacher literally reached toward her and ripped it off of and out of her body thinking it was a beeper. No warning, no questions, just ripped it right off. Well my cousin's mother ( aka my aunt) is a nurse. She marched right in there and tore the principal and the teacher both a new one. They were made to apologize to my cousin and the school district was notified.

I would have told the Principle that I'll be bring my child back to school tomorrow. If the teacher/criminal is still employed, I'll be talking with the police and pressing charges of assault. And walk out!
Story 3, definitely a narcissistic personality. Even if it's subtle, it's still someone being 100% a narcissist, and being hurt in the past doesn't excuse the behavior now. Even if it seems like there's not many red flags to you, there are a ton of red flags to me.
To me it sounds like comitment issues. Not as much "I am a narcissist". More like " asi was hurt in the past, So I rather scare everyone off before they make a comitment to our relationship".
If I where ops parent in the first story, I'd raise hell and put bricks under it, until the pump was replaced by them, the teacher was fired and could never work with children again, and the ENTIRE staff had mandatory classes on how to appropriately handle children with diabetes.
With story one even if it is headphones you don’t sneak up on people with scissors, that can be so dangerous in itself. If the child jumps, if she slips. I also don’t know how that is the kind of thing you forget in a small school. This kid had a device that keeps him alive!
1st story, im seeing alot of ppl talking about it being attempted murder, delony, and all these really serious stuff, which is true, and she shouldn't have only gotten, basically a slap on the wrist for this. But lets not forget she did that, thinking it was headphone wires, which is still not ok to do. Thats destruction of property, like, cmon. This teacher shouldve gotten all of these charges and more for that attempt at being clever and slick or whatever she thought she was
I once had a teacher in my grade ripe out an insulin pump because she thought it was an iPod. The teacher wasnt informed and was very strict, even in the hallways, on electronics. This was in highschool and the student were quite shit. I know stories like this, and I can see both sides of it. What I cant understand is this teachers attitude. Like...who hurt you?
1st story: that teacher should have been fired for cutting the op’s insulin pump because what kind of teacher will cut someone’s insulin pump IN THE MIDDLE OF CLASS and know that person has type one diabetes.
I kept being sent home from secondary school, because I wasn’t feeling right (type one diabetic here). Plus I had my food stolen from me, I didn’t say anything to my mum but I broke down crying to one of my mum’s friends and told her. My mum and her friend drove back up to the secondary school with me and we told the headmaster (he was stupid & thick) he said I should come to him and have a mars bar (I mean hello type one diabetic here). We were supposed to do a assembly about type 1 diabetes and the affects it can lead to, but we didn’t. But now there’s a lot of people at that secondary school who have type 1 diabetes.
1. I don't think i could have been that calm. Ive seen what diabetes does to kids. I can't say I wouldn't put my hands on that teacher. It sounds like she needs a severe attitude adjustment.
My friends dad just died from diabetes complications. And she’s been struggling herself. Had a leg and a toe amputated. That teacher got away with murder.
...my best friend used to use a pump. WHAT THE ACTUAL-I really want to cuss this lady from Story 1 out. On another note, she uses an Omni pod now(basically a pump without tubes, only type of its kind which I'm guessing the guy has. It connects to a phone thing, and then there's her DexCom sensor that also connects to her actual phone. She's allowed to have them everywhere, don't worry. Funny story, actually, that also goes to show that YOU DON'T MESS WITH A T1 DIABETIC'S PUMP IDIOT! This one obnoxious kid tried to grab at her pump and mess with it, back when she still had one. Needless to say, she ripped him a new one, after reacting very quickly and getting him away from her.
Story 1: just a few charges that Op’s teacher could’ve faced: 1.) willful child neglect, 2.) felony child abuse, 3.) felony assualt, 4.) Abuse of a person of an at risk population.
Attempted murder on the table?
That teacher is traumatized. Trust that. She is soooooooooo lucky. She should be counting her blessings everyday
@@ordolin it’s entirely possible, I grew up in a Law Enforcement and Military family so my knowledge is pretty limited.

The scary thing about the insulin story. What would have happened had the pump been doing its job at the time the line was cut? That teacher could potentially have killed that child. The reason that there weren't any charges pressed because that is what the parents wanted.
@@DigitalCowboy000 Which means the parents were too nice for their own (or their child's) good. A teacher like that needs to be taught a harsh lesson that that behaviour is NOT okay. She only apologised, imo, because she realised that she couldn't get away with it. If it were headphones, it wouldn't have been seen as a big deal and the student would be in the wrong so the school could have tried spinning any arguments. A bit of expensive medical equipment? The part that baffles me is the fact he didn't have any transfusion sites at the clinic. We were always required to keep some of those at the school in case it came out. It is just some adhesive, so it isn't uncommon that it falls off. Does he call home every time it comes off while at school?
Sounds like this teacher's apology was her being handed a script with "This is what you WILL say, and you will mean it. Or you are the one being thrown under the bus."

Normally Id say yes, but judging from how this teacher handled the situation, a lady like this does not belong in the school system.
I'm glad the emergency response team was fast, even if he hadn't had a problem yet they saved the kid from potential danger in the long run
that's insane
First story: If I'd been that student's parent, I would've not only gone off on this teacher, but pressed charges and had her fired as well, and you bet your ass I'd threaten to sue. Absolutely no excuse to destroy someone's private property, regardless of what it is. Those parents showed much more mercy than I would have if my child was put in danger like that.
Most lawyers would probably be salivating over a case like this, what with how cut-and-dried it is, the school district was in the wrong, and they knew it.
Threaten??? Lmfao nah itd be a promise
@vanixiii5657 That's what I was thinking! Why threaten when you can do what you said you would do?

In the first story, that abusive, criminal teacher should have been sued and criminally charged. I would sue the school as well. I have seen teachers like that, and they should not be anywhere near children.
See, teachers like in story 1 exist and deserve to be sued and charged.
I have hypoglycemia (body produces too much inssulin so I have low blood sugar) and had an IEP stating I am allowed to have juice in the classroom and have a small bag filled with juice at all time (school was a strict water only during class type of place)
I knew my blood sugar was getting low one day when we had a substitute and went to take a juice box out after testing my blood and seeing how low it got.

@@nleem3361 Seizure of property violates the Fourth Amendment.
@@nleem3361 did the teacher get fired and have to give the stuff back or replace it/pay for it if it was damaged?
I was also the super-intelligent kid who could pretty much be described as "chaotic neutral."
We had a chalk thrower.
"Now pick it up and bring it back."
'Nah, you could use the excersize.'
I wonder why she always tried to nitpick me after that. =P

Same thing happened to me about insulin pump. Back in early 2000 an admin ripped my pump tubing out of my body thinking I was texting while walking to my next class. Also had a teacher grabbed candy out of my hand in class and passed out from an unexpected low blood sugar. Luckily my friend kept icing on her and tried to force me to eat while waiting on the nurse to run to my classroom.

the teacher on story one should have been fired on the spot and put in jail for at least 2 years.
At least they apologized and learned the lesson.
I’m a type 1 diabetic and if a teacher had done that to me; I think my mother would have sued the teacher and the school.
One of my classmates has type one diabetes and all the teachers are usually pretty nice to her but one was really bad
My classmate who we'll call "mia" always had a lunchbox on her desk with some juice and alot more .
Mia then said to the teacher that she needed her phone but the teacher didnt care and got fired (i left out alot but i will maybe put that in the replys if enough people want that )
I want to see if the teacher was lectured by a very angry adult
teachers that do stuff like that shouldn't be working with kids.
Low blood sugar can be life threatening. Did she had to go to a hospital or was she still ok?
@@UnknownUser_10 i cant really remember but i think she was ok afterwards
@@nightfall3559 she did , mia's mom got the teacher fired and almost arrested
I was a diabetic for 27 years. If I had been that kid, I would NOT have been as calm as they were. Thankfully, I didn't have to deal with stuff like that as I didn't become diabetic until I was 18 and only a few months from graduation, If I had been the parent in this situation, I might have spent a few days in jail!
Sorry but Diabetes doesn't go away..unless it was the kind you get from taking in too much sugar in a short amount of time..
@@xXBadBitchJXx I was waiting for someone to reply something like this. On May 13 2022, I had a kidney/pancreas transplant. I am, indeed, diabetes free.
@@colewilliams6623 so type 2 and indeed the kind caused by the amount of sugar you intake in a short amount of time.
@@xXBadBitchJXx Nope, Type 1 from day 1. I took both short-acting and long acting insulins every day.
No, the offending organ was literally replaced with a functional one.
Even if he was listening to music a teacher should never cut cords
exactly that is still property damage
it still have electricals in it so i would point the metal parts
In my School a teacher thought she caught a girl with earbuds so he yanked the cord to yell at her only for the life to drain from her eyes as the kid cried and started bleeding since she yanked her hearing aid and took parts of the eardrum she was sued into oblivion and the child was permanently deaf after that and the school closed for a week since they got hit so hard because the mom worked for an amazing law Firm
In the first story: can this be considered as attempted murder?
Yes
Denial of life-saving medication? Absolutely.
Manslaughter at the most - no intent to kill
definition of murder in oxford dictionary:
"the unlawful premeditated killing of one human being by another."
So no this couldn't be murder or attempted murder because this certainly wasn't premeditated
Involuntary manslaughter

Educating the teachers was a good idea, but I would've still want disciplinary action.
you think the teacher's union would ALLOW that? don't be silly...
I got held back in college because apparently my teachers couldn’t comprehend that I’m autistic and thus have different educational needs.
I’m sick of these people on Reddit not pressing charges for things like this.
(My trauma was about a surgery i had when i was 10 months old)
I was gonna say you can’t have ptsd from something you don’t remember but I looked it up and it’s possible weird that or mats are invoked though
If I was placed in a situation similar to Story 1, then the class would have a new teacher.
Absolutely not! They should have asked you to put it away instead of tearing it up.
The amount of rage parents go through when their child gets hurt because of someone else’s doing is still terrifying to me.
Something is wrong with the teacher in the first story
Thats 3 times in 3 days.

For story 1, I bet that's the last time she ever cuts anything.
I’m sorry where do you live?
If I would gave been in their place I would for sure gave her charged for any damage she did - and would gave trued to gave her fined for what she did
I personally dont feel like the second one is emotional abuse... but i do think they both need to work on things and seek therapy

i can relate to story 1 cause in 2nd grade i was having an asthma attack (I have stage 4 severe persistant asthma) and my teacher took it for the rest of the day because I had used it the day before and she "Did'nt like the sound of the albuteral steroids coming out." and I could'nt breathe for 2 hours and almost landed in the hospital. and hen my mo arrived and my teacher got fired but she sucked anyway nobody liked her
If i was the mum, I would have straight up not talk, and go straight to court for child abuse, damaging of property, and abuse of child of an at risk population.
As a type one diabetic i know the prices, my t-slim x2 pump cost 5000$ (insurance pays that much) and a vial of insulin cost 400$
Sounds like ptsd to me, where every little thing sets him off.
this doesn't even sound that bad, he's not yelling, cussing perfusly, braking things, or even taking his frustrations out on her in any way, pretty much every one, no every one, in my family has worse out bursts
Even if it was music, someone cuts my property or breaks anything of mine im 100% making the school replace it.

That teacher is lucky she escaped without even being sued for assault. Or, at the very least, made to apologize infront of city hall.

To me it sounds like comitment issues. Not as much "I am a narcissist". More like " asi was hurt in the past, So I rather scare everyone off before they make a comitment to our relationship".
1st story: That teacher needs to be charged, fired , and kept away from children. Had that been my child, that teacher would have been hospitalized.
story 1: Why do people never sue? No really, this could have killed your kid and you didn't even accept the teacher paying for the damages?
It costs money to sue. Unless someone is well enough financially, court costs money. Suing someone isnt always an option for everyone.
I can really agree with the op's mom in story 1 as i recently lost a cousin to type one diebetes
This was in highschool and the student were quite shit. I know stories like this, and I can see both sides of it. What I cant understand is this teachers attitude. Like...who hurt you?
I can imagine the principal asking your Mother to sit down to talk and your Mom responding, It won't take that long.
I knew a girl that had the glucose meter on her arm and kids in school will go up and rip it out of her arm.
Just because it was different.
Mom should have pressed charges. That is assault bare minimum.

Story 2: That may not be emotional abuse, but it's DEFINITELY toxic. You need to separate permanently. It'll help you both in the long term.
