You kind of touched on it but playing for someone like Coach Cal can keep you in the NBA past that first contract. I've heard the NBA has probably 99 of the best 100 players in the world rostered, and 100 developmental spots of players who will likely be out of the league in 1.5 years and not see a second contract. Those middle of the roster spots are extremely interchangeable with hundreds of players around the world including ex NBA players being only able to fill 250 spots. A Coach Cal's connections can keep you in the league as a tiebreaker between two players.

Coach Dorian! Great breakdown. I was just asking my one of my partners, a Basketball Skills Trainer/AAU Coach, how the best programs recruit kids…any chance you already have this breakdown too?

Amazing message coach thanks. Nik got his new coach today, amazing and experience guy we enjoy practice, a lot of fundamentals. Nik is tall, fast but still need to learn basics. With good coach it's possible, I am so happy. We continue to read bible by annual plan to set a great foundation for mental and character values to be man of God, to work hard and serve others. Journey continues and we love your content. thanks

Pronunciation on it is "Uh-lai-shuh" so it sounds almost identical to Elijah, just with an sh rather than j sound.

Here’s the thing, if it were all about winning, morals and character for these kids then Brad Stevens should have been Coach K at Butler. I used to wonder how a coach could go to the final four final twice and not get a crew of 5 star recruits. It was all about the money to these kids and the NILs proved it. Now we don’t have to pretend anymore because they just get paid

Don’t forget that the system the coach runs and if they can get the keys to the offense or even just development as a player

Would you recommend international players to play for American college teams?

A coach who had infidelity in his marriage should not change what I think he can do for me as a basketball coach and to reach my full potential. I understand when looking for a father figure some people have different morals, but if that school is perfect for you academically, and athletically, you shouldn’t let the coach having marital issues be what makes you leave. Many people have marital issues and still can do their jobs efficiently.

@@taurlen worst recruiting advice I’ve ever heard. If a man can’t be loyal to this family, he won’t be loyal to his players. Theres too many options out here to deal with someone who’s disloyal. To each is own.
