+Isaac I still have UNHOLY WAR. It was an instant classic to me. Was done by the STAR CONTROL team. Still awesome for its music and multiplayer VS aspect.
+Isaac It's still a good once in a grey while games. I still like the music to the game. For it's time it was quite ground breaking. I'm still glad I kept my copy. I think I sold it years ago but rebought it and kept my second copy. I admit I tend to buy a copy then sell then be like "am I crazy?" then buy it again.
When i was a kid it is one of my favorite game! I played it til my disc cannot read well anymore! Lol.. love this game, i just hope they will remake this beauty!
I actually had a lot of fun playing a little known game called Fighting Force, a beat em up on PS1 that had local multiplayer capabilities, those were some of my favorite memories with my sister actually, and I don't have a lot of good memories from my childhood, so I latch onto any good ones I can.
Futurecop! An absolute hidden gem these days. I still have the soundtrack and the narrator from multiplayer etched into my mind. "Blue team turret destroyed" Even sky captain! "Nooooo" ahhhh the nostalgia that game brings!
SO pleased to see this in the comments so that I didn't have to add it. Great classic game, but that multiplayer was amazing. The AI was tough as balls as well.
Me and one of my friends randomly decided to rent that game at one point and just absolutely loved it. The co-op story mode was amazing and the arena multiplayer was just perfect!
I don't think it's that crazy to say that, Crash Team Racing was one of the best racing games at the time. It was smooth, had nice tracks and weapons, and was fun to play.
Josh Rock It also had really clever short cuts that needed skill to hit. It provided a risk/reward factor that made it great when playing with friends.
I actually can agree with that having played Mario kart 64 and crash team racing I really thought the graphics where over all better on ps1 and the driving was fun!
Duuuuuuuude. I fucking believed that only my brother and me was playing that underground game. Bushido Blade 2 aka the EPICNESS. Never PS 1 dueling were so intense than on that game were you could get kill in one blow.
My #1 is Twisted Metal 2. The closest sequel in similarity to TM2 was Head-On for PSP / Head-On Extra Twisted Edition for PS2 and I would love to see a remastering.
+te1381 I think it would be cool if they remade it.The game had a decent story and they can do the two faction thing no problem. Not sure how they can do the combat. Maybe make it like J Stars with the third person fighting/brawling but i'm unsure if they wanna keep it 1V1 like how they use to have it. I still feel they should keep the skill system and the rock/paper/sciccors system that was in place were certain guys would be meh to other and destroy! to others. I feel they can really do it and do it well. T
sorry to be so offtopic but does someone know of a trick to log back into an Instagram account?? I was stupid lost the login password. I would appreciate any tips you can offer me!
JerechoNC nostalgiasm. There was just something about being able to customize the mech and buy new parts. Added a whole new dimension to the game rather than just shooting at things. Would have got bored really quick if it wasn't for that
I used to love going over to my nan and grandpa's place and grandpa would chuck on CTR. we'd have some awesome races and he'd beaten the game so much he would always win by knowing the track secrets haha.. good times.. I miss him.
Destrega? Army Men? Little Soldiers? Quake 2? Armorines? Diablo? Strikers 1945? Bloody Roar? Siphon Filter? Medal of Honor? Destruction Derby? Motocross? Test Drive Off-Road? Bushido Blade? Fighting Force? Legend? Raystorm? And these are just off the top of my head. Not to mention tons of trivia games (You Don't Know Jack, Wheel of Fortune, etc.) edit: spelling
I wasn't around when it was really out but i've played it with my dad, star wars demolition. It might not been multiplayer but it was the most fun I've ever had in a video game, playing as all of your favorite star wars character in and out of vehicles, sneaky hiding spots and tons of secrets it was amazing
That game definitely was split screen multiplayer, I have very fond memories of playing it with my little brothers as a kid. It still holds up today for a bit of fun if you can get a hold of it. It's definitely not even the best vehicle battle game on ps one but it's always going to be my favourite! One summer we decided to team up and agreed not to shoot each other in favour of blowing up every single set piece on mos eisley. It took ages, but at that age the entertainment value of blowing things up was more than enough to keep us going...
Twisted Metal, Bomberman, Need for Speed, Tekken 2, Bushido Blade 2, Bugs and Taz, X-Men vs Street Fighter, and finally Smackdown 2. This was what I remembered playing
I was kinda disappointed when they annouced Crash remake.. Because it was not CTR. Dammit developpers do the CTR remake we all want! Also, Team Buddies was a ton of fun to play with friends!
There was a "CTR2" but it wasn't great. It had something like "Merging karts" during the race. It was really disturbing. I think it was made to compete again Mario Kart: Double Dash but.. we know the result x)
Yeah the next ctr game was crash tag team racing and it was a little weird but it was still kinda fun. That plus there was a lot of content in that game. A lot.
Cool boeardrs how many hours spent on that one. Still the best snowboard game ever made imho. And Sled Storm & Syphon Filter, spent hours just playing the demo again and again.
LEGEND OF MANA This game is truly the masterpieces of RPG that many should try to follow. This game has features that even latest RPG games don't have. 1. Offline Multiplayer capability. Not only the 2nd Controller can plays the partners characters, one can import other's main character save game into your game to be played co-op ly in the story. You can even do duel. 2. New game + WITH harder difficulties. Most JRPGs tend to get pretty boring after your characters reached certain level. People sometimes will go as far as limiting themselves just to make it more challenging (such as the "low level only"). They're not really that much games that has those kind of fitures, few games I can remember is Diablo from PS1. FFTactics in PSP version has an interesting multiplayer too.
Crash Team Racing definitely deserves the top spot. But there's one oft-forgotten PS1 gem that has some of the most entertaining 1v1 multiplayer I've ever seen: Trap Gunner
My first video game ever was Sea Wolf (an old arcade machine... but it was brand new when I played it) at the local Shakey's Pizza in Amarillo, Texas back in '76. Been gaming ever since. :)
when i was a kid 16 years ago i played a racing game called Speed Freaks. I recall that it was fun to play that game with my friends.... and my Mum sometimes haha XD
CTR is the greatest, and I love you for making it the top pick. I was about ready to blow when I didn't see it on the list, but I'm so happy others enjoy it as much as I do.
I want to thank you WhatCulture, I played a demo for Unholy War back in the day, and having completely forgetting the games name, I have been trying to find this game for years, and then upon watching this video, I now know what to search on ebay
The Gauntlet games were just so much fun on the PS1 and PS2 in multiplayer mode. Spent hours with the niece and nephews on those. Crash Team Racing (Go mighty polar bear!!) and Gran Turismo 2 were almost as popular with us. :)
I think your list pretty much nailed it for me personally! a few honourable mentions in my list might be ; The Destruction Derby series, V-rally and WWF Warzone.
I'd add Team Buddies and KKND2. The former had crazy depth in the matches and perfect ratio of strategy, action and pure fun, as well as perfect difficulty curve. KKND2 offered splitscreen RTS in times when multiplayer RTS was usually limited to computer cafes. With KKND2 you had that at home.
I know a lot of people will probably say this, but holy shit Crash Team Racing was my childhood. Played that sooo much. It was the first game I ever completed.
Unholy War was the best game on PS1 for the longest time. The egg laying raptor bastard and the dark angel were the best characters. Though I did have great success with cheap tactics using the tesla tower guy.
I wish Soul Edge/Soul Blade was on this list. It was my family's favorite fighting game on the PS1 and set up how the Soul Calibur series would function in the future of video games.
My Top 8 multiplayer PS1 games 8: Driver 2 - "Dumpster problems?" 7: NHL 99 - "These skates were made for stabbing, and that's just what they'll do." 6: Twisted Metal 2 - "Don't blame me for losing when you lost track of your kill count!" 5: Need For Speed 2 - "Semi Truck and Schhol Bus vs Traffic is the only way to race!" 4: WWF Smackdown - "Armor Dragon vs Darth Ninja vs Stone Cold for the WWF Championship was the best match EVER! Of course, Armor Dragon wins every time!"" 3: NCAA Football 2000 - "One good interception always deserves another!" 2: NBA Live 98 - "No fouls equals no excuses." 1: Demolition Racer - "No cars left besides us? Let's play Chicken til one of us dies!"
Micro Machines v3 is the best 2player racing game of all time. No one could beat me. All the tracks are unlocked and so many skills and focus are involved to stay ahead. The tracks like the pool table and the science lab were so good the game became addictive. To this day I have to ask people to play it whenever they come around. On an emu on my Sony Tv of course.
I used to play The Unholy War all the time! Still have a copy. A buddy of mine and I would have endless sessions. Great game. It being the thumbnail for this video is what made me watch! I was excited to see someone else remembered this gem and what they had to say about it.
Here are some of my favorites adding to your list: Frogger - Lot's of fun in 4 player mode! Quake 2 - Not very easy controls, but very fun in 4 player mode and awesome music. KKND - Really fun 2 player splitscreen RTS. Micro Maniacs - Micro Machines with maniacs. Bomberman World - Bomberman Thrill Kill - Sadly this never got a release but I had a burned copy.
Fun Fact: If you complete every Goal on Easy in Tony Hawk's American Wasteland, one of the characters you unlock is called "Robo-Tony". "All hail Robo-Hawk" indeed.
Many single-player games are fun with multiple people too. My friends and I have our own Hot-Potato Challenges we do sometimes, where every 30 seconds we pass the controller to someone else.
Once upon a time, there was this game called Team Buddies. It was crass, it was brutal, it was fun and it supported 4 player split screen mayhem. Top of my list. The Unholy War came a close Deathmatch 2nd (props for actually realizing this game exists)
I still have The Unholy War! :D However, when you say that Worms Armageddon "allowed us to play Worms on the PS1 for the first time", I would gracefully disagree, since I had the original Worms game on PS1 and it was what introduced me to the franchise.
Listen pal, I was roaming around Romstation and suddenly had a vague, distant memory of an "arena game on PS1". I didn't remember its name at all. I searched "arena game PSOne" and landed on this video. Only to find my long lost gem : The Unholy War. What were the odds ? Thanks man !
+ant stenhouse I know the feeling. I am glad I bought it and kept my copy. I sold a copy on Unholy War and rebought it and kept the current copy since. The only game I regret not pressuring my parents into getting me was Panzer Dragoon Saga. I would of owned a rare title. Sadly My parents said no and missed out on owning a rare game.
Don't mind me; I am getting a bit teary-eyed at the forgotten gems and personal nostalgia from this list. I am still trying my hand at collecting old PS1 games... Alot of them are super expensive. For a copy of Diablo 1 for the PS1, a used copy that is in alright condition (Alright is having the complete set; the manual, the disc, and the original case) is listed as 90 bucks on Amazon.
Fun CTR drinking game: Drink and Don't drive. The set up: each player starts with a full bottle/ can of beer or their drink of choice (as long as it's roughly the same volume as other players drinks) each player has a controller and is racing. Basic Rules: The winner of the game is the first person to cross the line with an empty drink. Simple? Well, here's the catch. A player CANNOT move their kart whilst they are drinking and a Player must have finished their drink before they cross the finish line. Any breaking of the rules results in DQ and a forfeit of the true winners choice. Play winner-stays-on so the best player might play more they are also getting a lot more bladdered the more they play and they won't stay the best for long! Whether you have or haven't heard of this before, enjoy the hangovers guys!
Crash Team Racing is positively my favorite PS One title that still holds up. Only a few more recent kart racers come close to its greatness. Modnation Racers and maybe Sonic All-Stars Racing Transformed.
The Unholy War OMG!!!! I played that as a kid and have awesome memories about it but I forgot what it was called and thought I'd never find out.... thank you for unlocking my past!!!!
See I had a demo of unholy war which only let you play the battle scenarios and gave you four characters to choose from in which you won by eliminating your opponents roster. It was quite different to the finished product but fun as hell
two honorable mentions you should give a shot if you havent- Future Cop LAPD - single player played a lot like the prior "strike" games but the multiplayer mode could almost be considered a forefather to MOBA games of today Trap Gunner - just because. so. damn. fun.
While I'm a Play Station fangirl now, I never had a PS1, starting with the PS2. I did really love Gauntlet Dark Legends though, which is Gauntlet Legends with a minor facelift and tons of new levels.
For me, and my 6th Form common room. The 2 CLASSICS for the PS1 were Smackdown 2: Know Your Role.. Playing a 4 person battle royale or Royal Rumble. Seriously, some of the most fun i've ever had.. Its incredible.. And Gran Turismo 1 and 2... Even with the extremely limited car selection for multiplayer, still some great fun.
Micro Maniacs was awesome!! And glad to hear the Hogs of War love... would also add Tombi, Ape Escape, Abe's Odysee/Exodus, Road Rash, Grandia, Rayman, Bloody Roar and Vib Ribbon.
RIP Crash Team Racing, Bust-a-Move 3, Bushido Blade 2, Gran Turismo, Wipeout 2097, Coolboarders 2, Tony Hawk 2, Bomberman, FIFA 98, etc.Young kids will never know about you.
I didn't play the PS1 version of Bomberman until a couple of years ago at a retro gaming party. It's fucking amazing. Especially that you can play it with 5 players.
So glad you mentioned Unholy War! I've never met anyone else who played that game and I loved it as a kid.
+Isaac I still have UNHOLY WAR. It was an instant classic to me. Was done by the STAR CONTROL team. Still awesome for its music and multiplayer VS aspect.
I'm jealous! I'm so tempted to buy it again
Angel was the best with his eye lasers lol
I actually had a lot of fun playing a little known game called Fighting Force, a beat em up on PS1 that had local multiplayer capabilities, those were some of my favorite memories with my sister actually, and I don't have a lot of good memories from my childhood, so I latch onto any good ones I can.
Played through it with my gf recently. We are gonna play it alot more. So fun with good teamwork games :D
squick1842 ofc, when u have sex everytime u get bored of smashing vending machines and drinking coke
The demo was the sh!t back then!!!
I used to play it back in the day with my twin brother on n64. Ps1 port is just as good if you ask me.
future cop LAPD anyone?
and...SmackDown? i mean seriously,it was one of the best games overall, how could it not make the multiplayer list...
Futurecop! An absolute hidden gem these days. I still have the soundtrack and the narrator from multiplayer etched into my mind.
"Blue team turret destroyed"
Even sky captain! "Nooooo" ahhhh the nostalgia that game brings!
FUTURE COP FTW!
SO pleased to see this in the comments so that I didn't have to add it. Great classic game, but that multiplayer was amazing. The AI was tough as balls as well.
i knew i couldnt be the only one :)
Me and one of my friends randomly decided to rent that game at one point and just absolutely loved it. The co-op story mode was amazing and the arena multiplayer was just perfect!
CTR. Man those games remind me of the good old days...
when I still had friends :(
Or when we still had friends who actually would come to visit to game!
+Michael Lord me and friend still do but split screen aren't to great on ps3
+PhoenixHelix play me right now
***** Sewer speedway nine laps lets go
Crash Team Racing was better than Mario Kart of that generation.
There. I said it.
Preach!
Honestly, till the most recent MK game, I feel CTR was better than all of them.
I actually can agree with that having played Mario kart 64 and crash team racing I really thought the graphics where over all better on ps1 and the driving was fun!
bushido blade would make a good addition to this list. my friends and i still get together to play the vs mode on this, and it's always a blast.
i agree bushido blade is awesome, i wish someone remake that game
hell yeah
YESSS Me and my friends have been having tournaments with that game for the past few weeks. Its the best
Duuuuuuuude. I fucking believed that only my brother and me was playing that underground game. Bushido Blade 2 aka the EPICNESS. Never PS 1 dueling were so intense than on that game were you could get kill in one blow.
in my opinion the multiplayer in the first one is better, but the single player in 2 was cooler because of the 1st person mode.
My #1 is Twisted Metal 2. The closest sequel in similarity to TM2 was Head-On for PSP / Head-On Extra Twisted Edition for PS2 and I would love to see a remastering.
Unholy War was so good, I'd love a remake of that one
@Kevin Forest Instablaster =)
Space Invaders on the PS1 was a blast. RIP to everybody who died in 1978.
My favourite PSX Multiplayer games are Micro Machines V3, Micro Maniacs and Quake 2.
armored core is one of my alltime favorites.
JerechoNC nostalgiasm. There was just something about being able to customize the mech and buy new parts. Added a whole new dimension to the game rather than just shooting at things. Would have got bored really quick if it wasn't for that
JerechoNC nine ball hustler one
Armored core 1 is a must
also Smackdown 2 on the PSone was a fantastic multiplayer game, good times !
smackdown 2 was amazing I remember wasting a whole summer doing season mode on 4 player
I didn't have 3 friends to play with, but wrestling games should have definitely made the list!
The title says games that are STILL fun to play. Smackdown 2 is no way fun today.
+Gary Pereira if you get a bottle of rum and played season mode while wasted I'm sure it would still be fun
2-4 players royal rumble, select whoever comes through. still hilarious xD
I used to love going over to my nan and grandpa's place and grandpa would chuck on CTR. we'd have some awesome races and he'd beaten the game so much he would always win by knowing the track secrets haha.. good times.. I miss him.
Destrega? Army Men? Little Soldiers? Quake 2? Armorines? Diablo? Strikers 1945? Bloody Roar? Siphon Filter? Medal of Honor? Destruction Derby? Motocross? Test Drive Off-Road? Bushido Blade? Fighting Force? Legend? Raystorm? And these are just off the top of my head. Not to mention tons of trivia games (You Don't Know Jack, Wheel of Fortune, etc.)
edit: spelling
angbaboyatangbaka strikers 145 ahead of its time, played it black and white due to game being ntsc haha
Crash Bash and CTR were glorious, had hours of multiplayer fun with those two :)
I played the hell out of The Unholy War demo when I was young.
Never knew what it was called until recently.
I was kinda disappointed when they annouced Crash remake.. Because it was not CTR. Dammit developpers do the CTR remake we all want!
Also, Team Buddies was a ton of fun to play with friends!
Maybe they'll make a CTR remake if the remastered trilogy sells well enough.
Weren't there something similar on ps2 I remember playing it
There was a "CTR2" but it wasn't great. It had something like "Merging karts" during the race. It was really disturbing.
I think it was made to compete again Mario Kart: Double Dash but.. we know the result x)
+Leafth k
Yeah the next ctr game was crash tag team racing and it was a little weird but it was still kinda fun. That plus there was a lot of content in that game. A lot.
Glad to see that Unholy War finally got some recognition. It's a criminally underrated PSX title that no one seems to know about.
Future Cop LAPD had that awesome Precinct Assault mode. That was a lot of fun.
Oh shit... can't forget about Twisted ME-ELL
YES! CLASSIC!
My buddies and I about wore out our Twisted Metal 2 disc, we played it so much.
HAHA I thought I was wrong at noticing his way to pronounce "t"s ahaha or should I say "no-icing"? hahaha
preferred 4 if only because the level layout was better than the others. 2 had the better roster
i believe this thread is to make fun of the man's accent haha
Coooooooool Boarders. Oh...and Sled Storm. Syphon Filter multiplayer was great too
Cool boeardrs how many hours spent on that one. Still the best snowboard game ever made imho. And Sled Storm & Syphon Filter, spent hours just playing the demo again and again.
Now there is a game called Steep that I think beats Cool Boarders, but still really good stuff
Chris Macdonald all i remeber from sled storm is : "dig thru the ditches and burn thru the witches, i slam thru the back of my, DRAGULAAAAAAA !"
LEGEND OF MANA
This game is truly the masterpieces of RPG that many should try to follow.

Tom Jordan elazul and pearl
Unholy wars it's one of the best ps1 games! Glad to see it on a list finally!!!!!
FutureCop: LAPD was also an amazing ps1 multiplayer game.
Crash Team Racing definitely deserves the top spot.
But there's one oft-forgotten PS1 gem that has some of the most entertaining 1v1 multiplayer I've ever seen: Trap Gunner
I think Bushido Blade and Smackdown 2 deserve a shout, but it was actually a really fuckin' good list.
Oh my god. I used to play unholy war on this demo I had when I was like 7 years old, and for years I've been searching for the game
Same I've been searching for like 15 years
crash team racing was the reason i started playing video games
My first video game ever was Sea Wolf (an old arcade machine... but it was brand new when I played it) at the local Shakey's Pizza in Amarillo, Texas back in '76. Been gaming ever since. :)
Naugthy dog should make a 30$ Crash Racing game, I want to play a game like Mario Kart on PS4 without having to buy a Wii U.
JohnnyDog naughty dog is remastering crash Bandicoot 1,2,3 for ps4. I don't know about crash Team racing though. Although that would be cool as well
Crash Team Racing AND Crash Bash on the same list!?!?!?
this vid deserves a like!
Kezza both unspeakably magnificent games
when i was a kid 16 years ago i played a racing game called Speed Freaks.

I think your list pretty much nailed it for me personally!
a few honourable mentions in my list might be ; The Destruction Derby series, V-rally and WWF Warzone.
Gon is a total badass!
+Fat Edgar I noticed they are offering a Gon movie via NETFLIX on the streaming side not disc form. I think that's cool.
Team Buddies was one of the best multiplayer game i ever played ❤
In remember Future Cop LAPD and Team Buddies being great fun as a kid. Whether they still hold up is another story.
NFL Blitz and Team Buddies were legends among my friends.
I know a lot of people will probably say this, but holy shit Crash Team Racing was my childhood.
Played that sooo much. It was the first game I ever completed.
Uh.... Smackdown? This is What Culture after all.
And WWF SmackDown! 2 : Know Your Role.
Unholy War was the best game on PS1 for the longest time. The egg laying raptor bastard and the dark angel were the best characters. Though I did have great success with cheap tactics using the tesla tower guy.
Sean Over holy My favourite was a lightning mage that can put some kind of a lightning turret and shoot lightnings
I wish Soul Edge/Soul Blade was on this list. It was my family's favorite fighting game on the PS1 and set up how the Soul Calibur series would function in the future of video games.
My Top 8 multiplayer PS1 games
8: Driver 2 - "Dumpster problems?"
7: NHL 99 - "These skates were made for stabbing, and that's just what they'll do."
6: Twisted Metal 2 - "Don't blame me for losing when you lost track of your kill count!"
5: Need For Speed 2 - "Semi Truck and Schhol Bus vs Traffic is the only way to race!"
4: WWF Smackdown - "Armor Dragon vs Darth Ninja vs Stone Cold for the WWF Championship was the best match EVER! Of course, Armor Dragon wins every time!""
3: NCAA Football 2000 - "One good interception always deserves another!"
2: NBA Live 98 - "No fouls equals no excuses."
1: Demolition Racer - "No cars left besides us? Let's play Chicken til one of us dies!"

Amazing list! A few more: Point Blank, WWF Smackdown, Bugs Bunny and Taz: Time Busters
Love the fact that Unholy War was on this list by the way.
Colony Wars, Destruction Derby, SmackDown.....so many to choose from
One of my favorite games back in the day was Tenchu 2. So many people I talk to never heard of the series but it was so fun!
Here are some of my favorites adding to your list:
Frogger - Lot's of fun in 4 player mode!
Quake 2 - Not very easy controls, but very fun in 4 player mode and awesome music.
KKND - Really fun 2 player splitscreen RTS.
Micro Maniacs - Micro Machines with maniacs.
Bomberman World - Bomberman
Thrill Kill - Sadly this never got a release but I had a burned copy.
I used to play Unholy War with my dad. It was always a treat.
RIP Rick... Im in tears now...
Once upon a time, there was this game called Team Buddies. It was crass, it was brutal, it was fun and it supported 4 player split screen mayhem. Top of my list. The Unholy War came a close Deathmatch 2nd (props for actually realizing this game exists)
worms 1 was on playstation.
it was released in 1995
Wolfie Kohaku yes I Got worms 1 on ps1
Bloody Roar 2 and CTR are my ps1 go to when I'm in a nostalgic mood
For sure the Smackdown series! Any sports title on PS1 really, the NHL games were fun. And Twisted Metal for sure. Even 3&4 I still had fun with.
Rollcage, Team Buddies, Vigilante 8... Ah, I miss a lot of PSX games.
Truly, it was a great console.
I still have The Unholy War! :D
However, when you say that Worms Armageddon "allowed us to play Worms on the PS1 for the first time", I would gracefully disagree, since I had the original Worms game on PS1 and it was what introduced me to the franchise.
IN THE HUNT is the best multiplayer game for me, it was so difficult but cool to play it with my uncle
Vigiliante 8 is also insane
Listen pal, I was roaming around Romstation and suddenly had a vague, distant memory of an "arena game on PS1". I didn't remember its name at all. I searched "arena game PSOne" and landed on this video. Only to find my long lost gem : The Unholy War. What were the odds ? Thanks man !
Remember playing the demo to death of unholy war.
Regret never buying it, or as the case was back then getting my parents to buy me it.
Bomberman World is easily my favorite multiplayer game of all time on the PS1.
Twisted Metal 2
G-Darius
In The Hunt
Tekken 3
Street Fighter Alpha 3
Tobal No. 1
Tomba, Einheinder, Spyro, Jersey Devil, Ape Escape, Syphon Filter... yeah the list does go on...
"Rogue Trip Vacation 2012" was another great multiplayer game. (Up to 4) :D
Crash Team Racing is positively my favorite PS One title that still holds up.
Only a few more recent kart racers come close to its greatness. Modnation Racers and maybe Sonic All-Stars Racing Transformed.
The Jet Moto demo alone got more play time than most of my full games.
It was quite different to the finished product but fun as hell
have to go with the jet moto and sled storm games myself, I played those endlessly
alias fakename dragula
Team Buddies! A little known masterpiece that's wildly amusing and extremely fun to play.
I would have added Bishi Bashi Special. I had so many hours of fun playing it with friends.
two honorable mentions you should give a shot if you havent-
Future Cop LAPD - single player played a lot like the prior "strike" games but the multiplayer mode could almost be considered a forefather to MOBA games of today
Trap Gunner - just because. so. damn. fun.
Crash Team Racing (Best racing game ever)
Crash Bash
Tekken 3
I think PS1 is not really multiplayer console, but PS2 is.
ya I agree
Team Buddies, Micro machines, Quake 2, Smash Court, Circuit Breakers
We all love gauntlet legends, crash bash, and thps here in this house
Both Crash Team Racing and Crash Bash made the list? Instant like!
WWF Attitude, WWF Smackdown 2, Twisted Metal 2 and 3, International Track and Field 2000
Smackdown 2 and Rayman Rush surely! Me and my brother used to play those for hours! Crash bash was always my fav tho
I couldn't afford unholy war, but I had a demo with 4 characters available to play, and it was SUPER fun.
my other half wont stop going about playing this on ps1! your not alone
Teken 3 was the first ps1 game i played.... I love it 🥺
CTR was fantastic. Simple as that. Micro Machines was also really fun to play.
Micro Maniacs was awesome!! And glad to hear the Hogs of War love... would also add Tombi, Ape Escape, Abe's Odysee/Exodus, Road Rash, Grandia, Rayman, Bloody Roar and Vib Ribbon.
Battle Hunter! Spent many years playing that game repeatedly!
my favourite PSone game is Wipeout 3: Special Edition, the graphics are the best on the system and the multiplayer was excellent fun!
Such a great list! I'd forgotten all about Infinity War, we had a demo of it as kids and absolutely smashed it. So much fun
The unholy war character setup could have worked in an actual MOBA. Loved this game.!
I spent hours playing Bugs & Taz time busters and Metal Slug 3 with my cousin
Ive been looking for unholy war for so long but never knew the name. Thank you a million times
The Unholy War was my first experience of multiplayer games and tons of fun!!!! Thanks for reminding me! Can't wait to play it again!!
