Nothing beat listening to Richie's analysis on a summer's day inside with the air con on, so soothing and relaxing, like reading a book on a tropical island
Living in England as a kid, Richie was the main face, presenter of cricket on the BBC. I never knew he was an Aussie, straight down the line....That was Richie, for a man to be the face of another country ie cricket tells you what kind of a guy he was. RIP Richie....The best.
You never knew he went undefeated as Australian captain, held the Australian record for most test wickets & was the first Australian to do the 2000runs/200 wickets double? lol
Damn, such a great man and commentator. There’s no comparison. Listening to radio 4 through the night as a kid etched his voice and observations right into my psyche. Just having a beer, watching a few classics. None more than this fellow. Much love, from Yorkshire.
His voice had the silken touch like David Gower's Batting. Sir Richie Benaud truly enthralled all the cricket lovers, across the globe, with his immense knowledge, wisdom and love for the game. He and Tony Greig, Two of the Most Incredible Cricket Observers ever.... because their commentary and knowledge sharing went beyond what they saw on the TV in front of them :)
You don't need to remind us everytime that he's no more. I keep coming back to hear his voice and that reminds me that good old lad is still there amongst us.
I remember back in the early 2000's the BBC had a primitive app called "Desktop Richie" where a little cartoon Richie would pop up and inform you of the latest developments in the match :). Beloved enough to have his own app before apps were a thing!
To be one of Australia's greatest cricket captains, and yet have it not even be controversial that a video of your "Best of" moments doesn't include anything from your cricket playing career. That's when you know you've made the most of your life.
Namaskar richie sirs commentary was filled with sweets like taste very difficult n different can't b forgotten that cricket had been a true gentlemen scenario n commentators took it everywhere its like poetry of love rip sir richie
I remember a test at Old Trafford in the 1990s, where Benaud was admiring the hanging baskets on the pavilion. "A marvellous sight. Petunias, Chrysanthemums and morning glory (Ipomea). Some younger viewers may have a different interpretation of morning glory".🤣
Richie Benaud will be remembered as a legend of commentary untill his was ill in 09 to his death in 2015 he will be remembered as the best on the commentary table bringing class to a field of 22 people fooling around in white outfits
As Daryl Cullinan walks off after being LBW to Warne, with a flipper... "He's seen one flipper". Ie. the exaggerated one Warne showed him first ball, so that he missed the genuine one which just took his wicket.
Voice of cricket... Cricket won't be same in down under, especially test without Richie and Tony... Miss your voice Richie in channel 9... Richie, bill, Tony and Ian formed a formidable team...
The one about the koala bears had me in stitches. There is another time he said a similar comment with the Japanese ladies in slippers walking on the pitch
@@robloxgaming4076 He was actually born in South Africa, hence the accent. Only played cricket for England internationally and only commented with Australian networks.
Glenn McGrath, just 98 short of his century

Richie has to end up on a $50 dollar bill or something. He's Australian royalty.
ezyroller $20 would make sense. Then you can say here is chewwnty dollars.
