200 years from now, they'll teach prince in theory class as they do beethoven today.
Amen 🙏🏽♑💜
No question about it! This man was a beast master!
If they can figure it out ;)
That entire Montreux 2009 show is fantastic. He played multiple shows and any of them are worth a whole watch.
He IS just the best! Like Dave Grohl said. simple, but right.there will be never never never another like him, sure!
Prince - Piano Medley (Lovesexy Tour, Live in Dortmund, 1988), Prince Live - Play that funky Music - Hollywood Swinging - Fantastic Voyage 4/28/11
Thanks for Prince reaction. Motherless Child with the amazing Larry Graham on bass, is an incredible live performance showcasing The Purple One's top notch guitar skills. The theme of abandonment runs deep in this song as well.
On Spanish television, promoting the third Prince tour I attended. The last one to my sorrow.
The studio version of this song was never officially released. It was a bootleg in the mid-80s, and then he recorded a music video for it in the mid-90s. This performance was from the Montreux Jazz Festival in 2009. He pulled a lot of deep cuts and unreleased gems out for these particular shows. These performances are not well-known by the masses...in fact, Prince's career after the 80s isn't well-known by the masses even though his musicianship continued to just get better and better. I think you might enjoy his performance of When We're Dancing Close and Slow from the 2013 Montreux Jazz Festival. It's a much more mellow vibe, but his guitar work during that performance is superb as well. I don't think it's on youtube as a standalone video, but it's definitely on Facebook if you search for it.
This was actually one of the songs prince did for the movie I'll Do Anything, Prince did all the somgs for the movie but at the last minute they took out all the songs out and made it a non musical, but the songs have floated aroind for years, chaka released the song Dont talk to strangers which he did for that same movie, several cool tracks
Thanks to whoever recommended this -- every time Prince went to the Montreux Jazz Festival, he showed OUT. All worth a listen!
That was rawer than SRV or Hendrix...it was pain personified
I echo everything @smh93 already said. I love this performance so much. It’s very high up on my favorite Prince performances list. The back story is that he got into an argument with the woman he was with at the time during a wedding. He left, wrote this song, and called his band (who were all at the wedding) to record it that night. He is quite simply the greatest artist during our lifetime. I really hope you go down the Prince rabbit hole. He will surprise you every time. A few recommendations came to mind while watching your great reaction. One is the Piano Medley from the Lovesexy tour. He’s finally become known as a masterful guitarist, but he mastered many other instruments, including the piano. The medley shows off his piano skills really well. ruclips.net/video/pazGdwrvM6Y/видео.htmlsi=h9J6wP4hPRcbzutx
Another one I thought of is a beautiful song called “The Love We Make.” This version has a beautiful guitar solo. ruclips.net/video/_RGDh1t-BEw/видео.htmlsi=M8pBcNmCAqwQhHU- 💜💜💜
Odd track to react to but always gonna appreciate any reaction from The GOAT!!! Nothing but love!! RIP legend!!! #goat
There's actually a second part to this video, which is called Elixir and I think you'll enjoy if you can find it. Empty Room/Elixir live in Montreux 20009.
that guitar didnot wept there ..it screamed till the eternity of spacetime
You might enjoy "Let's go Crazy" or his cover of "Motherless Child". They're worth checking out.
Many wise and insightful people missed out on Prince. Just be glad you're checking it out now. I suggest the live version of it's gonna be a beautiful night.
For me anytime Prince started a song off playing the piano it was just the first layer of the song. He was a good vocalist & always had great lyrics. But his soul & alot of the essence of who Prince was came through the guitar! That was his true instrumental excellence! Not to say he wasn't great at anything else. But when he played the guitar it added extra layers of emotions behind the songs.
Great assessment, Sir. 💜🙏👍
The Prince Well is ...deep ..really deep, nice reaction 👌
More Prince please 😊
Anything Prince done was fantastic 💜 I had the pleasure of seeing him live in 1996. The best concert I ever attended. The world lost a musical genius, may he live forever thru his music 🎶 ❤
The Purple One 💜 is / was Amazing ! Check out , When Doves Cry , Let Go Crazy , U Got the Look , Little Red Corvette , 1999 and Raspberry Berette ! Just to name a few . Watch the Purple Rain movie 🎬 to !
Love this song and performance.
U may also find the song, The Ride, a good watch. The version from the sacrifice of victor after show is a personal favorite.
ive been a fan since the early 80s, own most of his recorded albums and im still finding/hearing songs that he did that ive never heard which speaks to his immense catalog that rumors say there are thousands of unreleased songs in what is referred to as the "vault" at his Paisley Park studios in MN. Actually a new single was released in April, United States of Division. As he did often, making his political points through music but always in a tasteful manner to make people think critically with his lyrics
Empty room could be all the above, a room they shared, the extra time one has can be empty, conversations with people could feel empty, but in my opinion, it's the emptiness in the heart when love is taken away. In this case the actual breakup (1986)didn't occur until a year after the song was recorded in 1985. We can thank Susannah Melvoin's influence for the many great songs Prince wrote.
I love how the song steps up with each verse going from sad, to longing, to frustration, to ultimately reaching a gut wrenching transcendent anguish.

Well put!!!
I love "When Doves Cry" by Prince. AMAZING.
Please dice in Mr. L!
I would look for performances non generic... he's one of the most unique people every!! Brilliant is an understatement!!
If you're in to education you have to Know Prince. My opinion
Great reaction, thank you!
8:20 this was not from 1985... it was Montreux, Switzerland18 July 2009.
America live 1985 🎤
You need to watch the Movie Purple Rain ☔️
You would love it 🤩
Good one
It's about Susannah Melvoin, Wendy's sister, his ❤. Written in the 80's.
Prince is the GEATEST ARTIST.
There is a Purple Rain movie.
... also, there are done songs are very appealing to a young ear but Prince's space is more Sophisticated, so don't feel bad because it's not something that could be appreciated until one's much older ;)
2009
React to Tina Turner STEAMY windows live 1990 Barcelona
Boyd, just wait till you see Arsenio Hall performance of Let's Go Crazy/Kiss, his duet with Beyonce, other live concert clips, so much, so much.
Ya yes yes
This song was written about Jill Jones former girlfriend and one of his background singers. It is a breakup song. Listen to Prince America ruclips.net/video/Pq98n2j75XA/видео.htmlsi=NaORrxKtRYZzHC63
Jill Jones was one of his off/on relationships and also worked for him. The song 'Shes Always In My Hair" is about her.
When Susannah Melvoin was asked what songs did
Prince write for her, she stated, "Well there's quite a few The infamous “Wally,” which no one heard because he destroyed the tape. There's “Strange Relationship;” “Nothing Compares 2 U;” In a Large Room with No Light;”
If I was Your Girlfriend, Empty Room” God, you know there's so many more"- Susannah Melvoin
you should listen here all the encore ...cause you missed the whole experience with elixer afterwards
Yes…you might want to deep dive a bit into this prolific performer…🤦🏽♀️
I miss you so much, Prince.
Prince or Michael Jackson? Please! Is that a rhetorical question? It's certainly not a legitimate conversation.
