This is scary. Rich people pay politicians to make sure they get access to taxpayer funds first when banks shutter or they're in jeopardy of losing all their money. I feel bad for the lowest paid workers that may be affected, but not CEO's. A lot of them have created this abusive corporate pay structure where they are paid 300 to 400 percent the salary of entry level workers. Most add very little value. They posture and perform with speeches, meetings, and excessive travel to provide the appearance of working hard. It's a con.

First, contrary to what Trump claims- the American economy had declined in the quarter prior to Covid which was the Fall quarter. Now inflation has been a Global issue but under Biden he passed the Inflation Reduction Act (August 2022) and it has fallen every month since it has passed such that the current inflation rate is lower than just about every major Western Industrial country. Go check for yourself. Biden's first year in office (2021) saw strong growth in real GDP, wages, employment, stock market returns, and household net worth, coupled with an increase in inflation. During his second year (2022), the unemployment rate averaged 3.6%, the lowest since 1969. Trump used to brag Black people had record unemployment. Biden has not only better that but it is also the lowest unemployment for Latinos. Over 800,000 manufacturing jobs added by the end of 2022. I do note that unemployment has gone up during the first quarter of2023 (by less than one percent) but in March over 200,000 were added Go check. More than $700 billion in announced private investment in manufacturing, utilities, and energy from more than 200 companies in all 50 states. Much of this investment is driven by the semiconductor, energy, electric vehicles and batteries, and other cutting-edge sectors. By getting the Infrastructure Bill passed, he has set up the USA to continue to have economic prosperity for the future. Trump talked big about Buy American but Biden actually has executed it much better. Which is easily verified. I note that the GOP rail on about the expenditures but always omit that under Biden’s first two years he actually cut 1.7 trillion of the deficits. I note that he also passed measures to lower medical care costs (examples-Insulin now capped at $35.00, no cost for Shingles vaccines for Seniors, if enrolled in Medicare then no costs for vaccines). I could keep going on but I also ask you to look at the past few months where the GOP congress has blocked economic proposals for strictly partisan purposes because they want the economy to tank. When it comes to the economic well being of the American people particularly the working class /middle class there should be bipartisanship.

I’m just an ordinary 71 year old still working woman and most of the people I interact with everyday have no idea any of this is happening. Gasoline is back up to $3.85 a gallon and climbing, groceries are too expensive to buy, and our property taxes are going up like a rocket. This is exactly right. Several months ago I replied to a question on the order of "What will happen to Russia when the rest of the worlds' sanctions squeeze them into oblivion?". My response was that Russia is about as immune to foreign economic sanctions as is possible. They produce their own food, energy, transportation, raw materials for construction and industry. The even produce their own satellites and launch vehicles. The reaction was that I sounded like a Russian apologist, or worse a "Putin mouthpiece". This for stating the obvious. I watched the movie "Idiocracy" again last night. It's amazing as time goes on how it keeps creeping closer and closer to reality!
