    I can relate to having a slump, feeling defeated, spinning your wheels, whatever you want to call it. But Raz, you have accomplished so much during those same months.
    You have added some amazing new products, thank you very much by the way, you have rebuilt your cars back to their pristine condition. Yes at a great cost, but you know better than anyone that records don't come cheap or easy.
    Please celebrate the wins and great strides that you've made in advancing not only your cars, but also thousands around you. Now that's something to be very proud of.

Take a short break,focus on drag for a couple of weeks and come back to speed running. I’m almost 💯% sure the “light bulb” will come on, and you will have it figured out. We’re rooting for you over here in New York. You got this Bro🤙🏽🤙🏽

    I don’t really get invested in many vloggers and their journey but I have to say, I love your energy Raz and I can feel your heartache when a run turns catastrophic.
    I like what you said about it not being your time to shine but in a way you still are. Looking at the other people putting up 200+mph passes, I can’t help but think of the saying “We stood on the shoulders of giants”. I don’t think this hobby would be anywhere near what it is without you and it’s just a matter of time that you’ll show us something new.
    Looking forward to more of the drag runs! Drag racing is a sport that I really hold close to my heart since childhood. I’ve just recently got back into RC and my next build is a drag car so I’m thrilled to see what you come up with.
    Keep doing what you’re doing and we all will be right here following along.

Don't dwell on trying to find a reason for your bad luck. There is no rhyme or reason to the way life unfolds - it is what it is, as they say. Forgive me for preaching but hate to see a dude suffer. You have so much empirical data and evidence to in support of your success. So don't engage with those negative thoughts and let them go. Keep on truckin' brother.

    Please don't give up!!! If speed runs where all happiness, rainbows, puppies n kittens everyone would be doing it and kicking ass and breaking records. Only a select few special people with hardcore dedication like yourself have the ability to go all in throw caution to the wind and let er buck! And that's what motivates people like myself and gives us the confidence to go out and try knowing the "big guys" have just as much of a hard time chasing that PB. Thank You for keeping it real Raz, keep up the good work!!

    Please keep going down the drag racing rabbit hole, it's a lot more achievable to the average person that doesn't have a long smooth road to do the speed test on so I think it appeals to an even bigger audience. I believe both are equally as interesting, good luck keep the faith.

    Maybe you are getting a lot of cross winds with it being so open where you are, air temperature could also be an issue, I'm sure you have the data from your best runs. I'm pretty sure the UK record will not be from a hot day, most likely under 20degC. Not seeing people do smaller light weight builds it would be great to see you do something a little different. You could use a doner car like the 1:10th Awesomatix A800R touring car, doesn't even use a conventional shock setup so it has the lowest CG in the industry. It's a bit of an engineering masterpiece, I'm sure being an engineer you will be able appreciate what they have created. And keep up the hard work but remember it has to be fun Raz 😛😎

  • @ChainsawFPV
    @ChainsawFPV Год назад +13

    For drag, I would adjust the throttle curve a bit. Wheel spin = acceleration/speed loss. A little less power off the start to give the tires a chance to hook up, then ramp it up quickly. Also they make sticky compound for the tires. If you are allowed to use it.

    Love to watch your videos. I know that things will pick up from now on.
    In my opinion, if you want to break the 220 barrier, you'll need to do something radical. I haven't seen builds with custom molded carbon fiber chassis and shells, it might give you the edge you need. For example, making a monocoque tub-type chassis like a McLaren, more rigidity, and less weight because you can eliminate some supports.
    You can maybe implement an active aero package, front lip, and spoiler. When it senses elevation, it can lower the front and raise the back to stabilize the car. A couple of servos and 3d designed parts can help a lot, I think. The main benefit is having real-time control over the down forces.
    The other thing it occurs to me is that perhaps a different suspension and / or wheel setup is necessary. Of course you always thrive to use the best components available, but perhaps you'll need to develop something else entirely, like larger carbon fiber wheels, even asymmetrical front to rear.
    I see that everyone is reaching the limit there. Any leap forward will be on those fronts.
    Best wishes!

    In normal prepped drag racing, you want a cool surface but warm tires. That's why you see burnouts, and better times at night. It's the same for regular racing as well. Tires have a certain operating temp, so it takes a lap or so for something like an F1 car to heat the tires and get up to speed. Night time and cool weather also sees faster times and better grip, but it's harder for them to keep heat in the tires.

  • @phase3ute
    @phase3ute Год назад

    I’m a car drag racer. And a lot of our tuning is power management. Every time you turn the tyre your losing time. You need to use a traction compound on the tyre. You are also going to need a wider tyre. Generally on a drag setup, you will use a 90/10 front shock and a 70/30 shock on rear with a reasonably stiff spring. This is for better weigh transfer to the rear tyres. If you could design a 4 link rear end would help with planting the rear tyre hard. The harder it accelerates the harder if pushes the tyre into the ground
    And the lighter the car the better because a lighter car will always have a faster acceleration potential. So personally I think a single motor very light weight will be a better combination

    Hey Raz I concur with others here saying you need the front to be allowed to raise up on the hit to allow the weight to transfer to the rear and then have it slowly return as you go down the strip. You could see in the slo mo the stiffness of it caused the car to unload the tyres as soon as the transfer of weight happened and the energy couldn't be absorbed which would normally keep those rear tyres planted.. The front needs lots of droop allowed and travel/extension to allow that transfer.. Looking forward to watching you progress mate..

  • @k.o.0
    @k.o.0 Год назад

    Raz to improve your launch and loss of power since the front end is lifting you will need to move up your lipos to provide the weight. Remember it’s all about weight to power for drag with perfect balance. The alternative is to add a wheelie bar to the back and then you can load the weight up on the rear axel to lay down the power. It all about tweaking but definitely make room to allow lipos to be adjustable to permit fine tuning the balance!

    Raz, full scale drag racer here! 4WD cars have a very different launch to RWD stuff. whilst RWD cars can (within reason) hit the tires hard off the line they use the weight transfer of the vehicle to push the driven wheels into the tarmac to leverage the vehicle weight into traction. 4WD full scale stuff has to take off slower as with each of the wheels being driven the vehicle doesn't load the wheels up nearly as much. full scale 4WD also cheat a little and slip the drive from the centre diff to the front axle when launching, I think GTR's can go as low as Front25%/Rear75% torque split on the launch to try and get those rear wheels pushed into the road! keep at it its a battle to get those time but it'll be worth the fight!

    Maybe it’s something with the air dynamics at that 200mph mark. Thank you for the content

    Hey Raz. Love your videos and I am a big fan of your page. Awesome run with your drag car BTW. I am also in the drag race scene. Try to use some tire prep to reduce the "skipping" and get better traction. Since it is a 4wd I advise to put prep on all 4 tires. Stick with the foam tires.

    Hey man! I just found your channel and i am SO HAPPY I DID!! I believe you are on the right track, getting to 200Mph on these things is something not everyone can say I did it, BUT YOU CAN!!!!! Looking at the videos I noticed a few things and with all respect, appreciation, and love I will point here.
    When they crash they all go flying front first, that means that there is a reason why your bullet car it getting to a higher speed and then sudently goes to the moon. Have you walked the same way your car is driving? I think it might be useful to go and walk the same route just to see IF there is a bump in the area where the car goes flying. Even a simple bump at that speed can create the car to lift the nose a little bit, and a little bit is just what your car need for a disaster.
    Second recommendation, when you walk the route around the place where you see the car that start to fly see if there are little tiny rocks on the street. As I saw on your video that street is very rough, and it seems to be an older road. Maybe you might try in another road that is kind of newer asphalt, the surface where you run has to do A LOT on the stability of the vehicle at that speeds. If the road is uneven, a little bit bumpy or have some type of uneven spots where it is crashing this might be the reason why. I do not see any reason why your vehicle can not reach 230Mph.
    Another thing you can do is, go in your car (your real car) and drive the distance your rc car is driving and have your friend lean on the door with a camera as close to the floor as possible pointing to the front, the video of this drive might let you see if the road becomes a little bit bumpy in that area, drive at 60mph and then at 80mph and see if you feel any difference in your car.
    Other suggestion I have for you is to stop or apply brakes before the point of impact, like right when it passes in front of your staging area. in your videos I see that the car comes in very hot but very stable and it is not until it gets to almost the same spot that it looses control. You can try to move your staging area 500 meters to the right so that you can stop your car before it reaches that area where it is crashing.
    Hope you dont mind my comments as I would LOVE to see your car become the holder of the speed record. I AM SURE YOU WILL BE ABLE TO BREAK IT
    Finally, try another spot where the asphalt looks more straight and see what happens :)
    bta, I just received my car #5 and #6 this week so I am pumped right now!!! :) :) :)

    I'm just your average RC guy, I'm more into bashing than anything else but I absolutely love your channel! I'm so impressed by what you do, it's amazing. There are a lot of guys that can make their cars go fast but your personality combined with your speed runs are what keeps me always coming back. This rough patch your going through will eventually go away and as you said maybe it's just not your time to shine at the moment. Personally what I would do is maybe just take a very small break from the speed run cars just to focus on the drag cars. Maybe that will ease the frustration a bit and get you thinking more clearly about whatever is happening in the speed runs. Also, can we all have a laugh at how amazing the first like 9 minutes of the video were with all the use of the word drag lol. Obviously it's very clear you're speaking of drag cars but once I got it in my head I giggled like a small child every time I heard it. Maybe build a speed run car while in drag! That'll lighten the mood!! Anyway love the channel, I won't make this freakin comment any longer than it already is.

    There is tons of information about off the line benefiting geometry in the real drag community. They have been drag racing for 80+ years and there is a lot of knowledge there and they are a huge community on RUclips. I know it won't all translate, but the science of instantaneous high torque traction fundamentals have to translate over at least a little, if not a lot. 4 point rear adjustable suspension that uses the torque of your rear end to force your tires into the ground will probably be the key. The geometry is well understood and it can be built to be highly adjustable. The adjustability will allow you to test iteratively by launching, stopping short, analyzing, adjusting, rinse and repeat. You should be able to eliminate the tire hop and spin, off the line, to maximize every ounce of torque.

    I think with tire prep you will be in the 1.90 because you did spin but you tracked straight but the right prep you will get rid of that

    UPDATE: New PB 121 MPH. There was another Hobbyist, present who saw my car run last time without the new PP Springs. He noticed that I had way more control when stopping. The new PP Wing was also a part of my new success as well. Time to go up on the gears now. I told him about the springs. Thanks again RAZ!!!!!
