- WFTV's Dave Sirak flew with the 2013 USAF Thunderbird Aerial demonstration team at the Tico Warbird airshow on March 22, 2013. Sirak was honored to fly with Major Michael "Drago" Fisher who serves as the team's Advance Pilot/Narrator.
Thunderbird Website: Major Michael Fisher is the advance pilot/narrator for the U.S. Air Force Air Demonstration Squadron, flying the No. 8 jet. While in high school, he was a varsity golfer and competed in mechanical drafting competitions. He entered the Air Force in 2002 as a graduate of Washington State University. Before joining the team, he served as an F-16 instructor pilot and flight commander for the 310th Fighter Squadron at Luke Air Force Base, Ariz. He has logged more than 1,900 flight hours as an Air Force pilot, with more than 430 combat hours in the F-16C. Major Fisher is in his second season with the team and hails from Vancouver, Wash.

i would do ANYTHING for this...ANYTHING...
Me too, I even build a complete simulator
So amazing when u know what the HUD symbology means after plaing BMS 4.33. Its like u sitting in the cockpit for yourself. :P
I realize it's kinda off topic but do anybody know a good place to watch newly released tv shows online ?
I would love to seve my country but I am 13
The HUD feels like flying Falcon BMS 4.33 simulator. Those are soft ball manoeuvres. Great HUD recording. But the whole video could be a recording of the simulator i mentioned above. We even use the same UHF frequencies. I cant see the VHF channel 2 frequency sadly. The TACAN channel is the default 97Xray. Just from the HUD i believe its a F-16 Block 50. Why do you use Steer-point 8 for the runway? I presume its the final steer-point and the steer-point 1 is another runway maybe? Im not sure why the radar is off, for accuracy the radar can give better altitude reading from the ground but i see inly barometric altitude. Also why Thunderbirds set minimum alt 300 feet? I was expecting to set to 0 to stop warnings. And its good to see the master arm is set to SIM and not off position. Are they doing simulated dogfights for fun after the airshow while noone is watching?
I love it , everyone that has played BMS wants to be a second guesser of a TBird. The radar is off because it's not declassed for media flights. The RADAR has nothing to do with the accuracy of the RAD ALT. , two different emitters. The video is not from BMS. The system is in SIM not master off, because the trigger fires the smoke.
+faabound so is it block 50? Also why min alt is 300? This is too high. The radar altimeter is empty, im asking why they dont use radar altimeter instead of barometric. The radar gives better readings. I didnt talk about radar. I cant see the MFDs. And dont worry we have the real manuals for all avionics. I wouldnt worry about declassified :) the whole world can find the manuals. I have the manuals for all blocks including 52+ and the upgraded versions MLUs :) but i can see the frequency they use for UHF. But again why steer point 8? I assume is flying near the base. So should be 1. If the f16 was block 30, the speed and altitude wouldn't be displayed in a box. This is only from block 40 and above. In block 40 the HUD has a top cover too. If i remember correctly the frame of the HUD in TB doesnt have top. So is it block 50 or 52? Do you know?
+mlazos it's block 52, and you can't get the manuals that matter online. they are in vaults in fighter squadrons. Those aren't available to Joe BMS driver. You have unclass, barely FTE restricted manuals.
His ALOW is set to 300, but without an audible alarm, if you look on final it is flashing but no Betty.
As far as steer one versus 8. It's personal preference, if they just flew a cross country hop, maybe he didn't write the DTC.
Since he is doing media flights the other points could be local points of interest. Reporter A wants to see KSC, steer 3, reporter B Cocoa Beach- steer 5. who knows. steer 8 could be the initial entry point for the overhead.
+faabound oh yes we do. From the Greek air force. Dont worry a bit about that. I can send you a photocopied version if you want ;) seriously we have the manuals. All of them. I miss the procedures for some air to ground missiles and JSOWS but i got everything else from aim9,7,120 to GBUs and mavericks. I have a friend flying f-16s and i know people in the army. I served as every greek does. So yeah dont worry i got them all :)
+faabound you know that Greek army is not professional. I served in the airforce, i was in the office responsible for ammo squadron, i have been to ground radars and i did technician engineer. I have degree in physics and maths so they assigned to help the chief engineer. Anyway. I have all manuals.
yes, the pilot was so concentrated to impressed him that he forgot the barometric radar !!! it's not necessary during the flight but it's important for low level..
And the landing was not good...
Pretty sure an F-16 pilot with +2000 flight hours knows his stuff.
He's centered on the staple, on the doughnut and on speed. What was bad about it? I've landed the F-16 and I'm curious what your critique might be.
@Pete Hillman"barometric radar" yeah pretty funny..and @ faabound im also very curious what was wrong about the landing, never the less it was a nice save and sweet landing as far i could C... but there are always better SIM pilots around on the globe i guess, anyways respect and thx for keeping us safe!
the pilot could barely handle 6 Gs wtf
Why do you feel a Centrifuge cleared 9 G pilot could only handle 6gs?
