  • This is a video of retired LCDR (Lieutenant Commander) Doug Mathews flying his T-33 Thunderbird with a special paint job celebrating 100 years of Naval avaition for the US Navy. Listen to the video as there's quite a history with this make of jet. It was doveloped by Lockheed and designed by Clarence "Kelly" Johnson and was used by the US Navy and Air Force as well as The German Luftwaffe and the Japaneese Self Air Defence Force. It's first flight was on March 22, 1948 and was produced until 1959. There were 6,557 made with many different variants such as the T2V/T-1A Sea Star and the Canadiar T-33. It was developed from the P-80/F-80 Shooting Star.

    The T33 is the two seating training version of the P-80 Shooting Star, isnt it?
