Universe is eternal. Since matter and energy can neither be created or destroyed, something - in some form or another - has always existed. No beginning, no end.
Interesting topic, thank you "Actual space", great video! There was no big bang, singularity or dark ages, there was something different... In reality we can´t detect any edge or bounderies in the vast cosmos! A universe is a cyclical process: 1) infant universe 2) expanding universe 3) retracting universe 4) end of cycle = collaps of matter... and then it starts again from beginning. So we are looking FROM ONE UNIVERSE TO THE NEXT! We don't know how many previous universes actually existed, but if they did, one could (theoretically) also see their light sources in the vast space - if that were even possible given the long travel time of light (observable & unobservable universe)...
The fundamental phenomenon of dilation (sometimes called gamma or y) explains galaxy rotation curves/dark matter. Mass that is dilated is smeared through spacetime relative to an outside observer. It's the phenomenon behind the phrase "mass becomes infinite at the speed of light". A 2 axis graph illustrates its squared nature, dilation increases at an exponential rate the closer you get to the speed of light. A "time dilation" graph illustrates the same phenomenon, it's not just time that gets dilated. Dilation will occur wherever there is an astronomical quantity of mass because high mass means high momentum. This includes the centers of very high mass stars and the overwhelming majority of galaxy centers. It can be inferred mathematically that the mass at the center of our own galaxy must be dilated. This means that there is no valid XYZ coordinate we can attribute to it, you can't point your finger at something that is smeared through spacetime. More precisely, everywhere you point is equally valid. In other words that mass is all around us. Dilation does not occur in galaxies with low mass centers because they do not have enough mass to achieve relativistic velocities. It has been confirmed in 6 very low mass galaxies including NGC 1052-DF2 and DF4 to have no dark matter, in other words they have normal rotation rates. All binary stars have normal rotation rates for the same reason.
I feel for the " great minds" and their " going off the deep end" trying to " wrap their head around" the entire understanding. Awaiting the opprobrium since this is only 2 minutes in, but I've already got a question, please.. It's the line about us being at exactly at the center of the observable universe. I hope that someone wise and civil will reply re: the truth of that. Merci
@mortalclown3812 the observable universe is simply how far we can see from our planet, so it makes sense that we're in the center. It doesn't mean we're the center of the entire universe. It just means we can see an equal distance all around ourselves. Like if you were in the middle of the ocean and turned around in a circle and all you could see was ocean- that would be your observable ocean. It just means the part of the ocean that you can see from where you are.
The universe is getting larger. Was all the space that there will ever be created at the Big Bang? If so, space is being stretched. If not, space is constantly being created.
So we will never be able to know the Universe as a whole. This saddens me greatly personally and for our species. So much to know out of reach for ever. What wonders there might be to be found...sigh.

@plantpot2962 there is no expanding universe. JWST is showing that there was no big bang. The universe goes on forever. In time and in space. Light has a finite lifespan and after about 14 billion years, it redshifts into the CMB. E=mc. An infinite universe bounded by c.
