The BIGGEST shark in Captivity! - Osaka Aquarium 海遊館
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 13 сен 2019
- In this video we take a tour of the Osaka Aquarium to see what it has to offer. Going into this I only knew that they housed whale sharks which are the biggest shark known to exist today. It turned out to be an amazing aquarium but it also has some creatures that probably shouldn't be in captivity.

my favorite animal
He Said the japanese Giant salamander
Punky Plays he showed it when he said it just a second later
I’m so glad he pointed out about the dolphins in captivity saying they shouldn’t be there,it just shows the type of person he is
All animals in captivity are given specialised Enrichment. Some facilities are bad and some are good but all AZA-accredited facilities meet extremely strict standards with their animal health and welfare. That's what makes them AZA-accredited. One of the standards is that they must participate in conservation efforts. That's why supporting AZA-accredited facilities is vital.
Thats actually bullshit cause everyone who visits the aquarium says that but they still support the aquaria by visiting so kind of prententious if you ask me, and none of the creatures there should be in captivity its doesnt matter whether they are intelligent or not
I think those were porpoises
@@COLDCOLE-17 Endangered species that wouldn't survive without captivity: *"Guess I'll die"*
Dolphins aren’t capable to be kept in captivity like great white sharks but all of the other things he had concern about where fine the fish that are in the touch tank don’t stay there all of their life and the penguins he was talking about don’t need as much space and are happier with smaller spaces and the whale shark should have a bigger enclosure but besides that everything is fine
Vote Gaming Beaver as the new Animal Planet host.
Nah we should get a combo of Sir David Attenborough and beaver

Sadly im my county we randomly lost animal planet
The "Echo the Dolphin" music in the background is much appreciated.

Ikr
It's "Ecco" but OK
All I can say is respect man as an animal lover I feel like this whenever I go to a zoo or aquarium it's a strong mix of excitement and a twinge of guilt
Beaver: the whale sharks were breath taking
Whale shark: no you are breath taking. Your all breath taking
Haha funny cuz we breath air XD
Peter Nagy sharks breathe air too
@@connoroneill9406
We breathe air as in we take in raw oxygen. Fish have to filter it from the water with their gills
Peter Nagy oxygen≠air
@@connoroneill9406
That's true, but in this case, invalid. Oxygen takes up 21% of our atmosphere. It's a part of it, and we breathe it. Therefore, we breathe air because oxygen is *a part of* air.
I'm currently working on my marine biology degree to transfer and work in Japan at either this aquarium in Osaka, or in a few in Tokyo. While I respect everyone's views on certain animals in captivity, I really do believe the people working here have the animals best interest in heart. I've been to this aquarium multiple times and talked to a lot of the people working here. During the dolphin training sessions they really take the time to work with each individual animal, and use positive reinforcement techniques. The tank with the dolphins is also extremely deep and provides ample room. This aquarium really showcases its animals in the best possible light.
B Vito look up Taji Dolphin Hunt they supply these marine creatures to the Osaka museum.. it might change your opinion
Human: **mocks dolphin**

Don't worry beaverz! The animals don't live their entire life in touchpooles and rockhoppers need a really tiny space compared to other penguins! I do love your concern and like how you feel about it! Stay like this beavz and keep me the happy boi i am :D
But they still need a lot bigger than that, and it's not like it's necessary for them to be in captivity in the first place
Istorm Arts Yet people still go which fuels the reason to have animals in captivity
@@paulk.221 yep, that's why I boycott pretty much all zooz/aquariums (unless they are completely rescues or breed and release with ridiculous amounts of space ect) but even then I feel a bit iffy about it
Istorm Arts yeah same
Istorm Arts I agree. I live in Alaska and the zoo we have is small af. All the animals look like they’re being tortured as when you go there they’re either asleep or pacing in a circle along the fence as if they just want out. However all of them are rescues and get be released. For example one of the eagles there is completely missing it’s wing. So it really does become iffy and honestly if I was that eagle I would just want to be put out of my misery rather than locked up in a tiny cage. But that’s just me.

British Empire Country Ball if only
British Empire Country Ball it’s common in many asian countries like china, japan with people wearing masks whether there is a pandemic or not.
sashaswagmangle yes, because of high pollution levels
People in Asian countries wore masks before they were "popular" for many reasons. In bigger cities they wear them for pollution, but also if they're sick so other people don't catch what they have. The narrator sounds like he has a cold so that's probably why he was wearing one.
I'm so glad you made this video, it really made an impact with me and to see people with an audience as big as yours speak up about these things was so uplifting. Keep up the amazing work, you're an amazing creator
Through these videos I see a new side of you. A side that cares about animals and the environment. A side that I can love and appreciate even more.

Beaver I've been watching you for your let's plays for what feels like forever, and yet this is hands down my favourite video you've ever posted. As a conservationist, I truly appreciate that you mentioned that we need to be more aware of how we treat animals in this day and age with how much we know about them. Most especially the more intelligent animals such as cetaceans and cephalopods. I didn't expect to adore this video as much as I did and I hope you create more videos like these, you're incredible, Beaver!
I love how they have some species together, instead of having them isolated and alone, one of the reasons animals go crazy in captivity
It's size gave me chills wow. The jellies were outstanding. Everything were so adorable. The best video ever..
so emotional. Food for thought. Keep up these videos we love you

great video, also love the fact that you bring the topic of keeping animals in zoos/aquariums to the attention it should get :)
I recomend the omaha zoo, they have no dolphins or anything of that type of species but they do have a dome for alligators and desert animals and also a jungle building filled with some of the biggest fish youll ever see to hippos and taipars then theres a creepy crawly dome where bees and butterflys are everywhere, then theres an aquarium where they have tons of room for the penguins, then the africa jungle zone where theres lemurs monkey, even an elevator that has glass and goes up a monkey cafe and theres a huge bird outside enclosure then the safari zone from giraffes to elephants, cheetahs lions and even tigers, my only problem is the cat zone and how small the enclosures are and then there are three huge exhibits of bears to a animal farm zone theres a train and a tram even a feeding station for guess to give animals food they have everything
Wait what country is this in?
J JB omaha nebraska america i would think it would be obvious
I just released the name of the zoo my bad
But thanks anyway I know where I’m going next!

Beaver, thank you so so so much for bringing this stuff up. I’m at Uni studying conservation and sometimes I feel hopeless bc so many people just don’t notice or care about these things.
This does a lot. ♥️♥️
3:09 No! You're breathtaking! You're all breathtaking!
Seeing that face mask.. I thought this video was from a few weeks ago
Its been months now
I would like to say that many places have dolphins in captivity because they CANNOT return to the wild. I don't know if that specific aquarium is a rescue aquarium or not.
But I would like to say do not attack rescue aquariums and their animal ambassadors if you don't know if they're a rescue or not. Many animals would perish if thrown into the wild or will hurt humans due to their behavior.
So I'm not sure if this aquarium is a rescue or not, but a lot people attack rescues without knowing they're rescues and people need! to! remember! That its thanks to these rescues that the animals taken from the bad people and places, can live longer.
Do your research and make sure it's a showplace before attacking the vets and trainers that work there.
Disclaimer for you in the comments it's not directed at beaver.
Its directed at you "THAT ANIMAL IS ABUSED" types. As I stated in the comment I already said that I don't know if it was a rescue or not and that part doesn't matter what matters is that there are dolphin shows and aquariums that run for profits for themselves so they can feed and provide veterinary care to the animals, rehabilitation and release of some. I used no rude language in my comment. My comment is to state DO YOUR REASEARCH before attacking some aquariums. Yes the areas look small in this one but as I already said that I don't know if it's a rescue or not (it probably isn't) but this info is still relevant to you "animals are always abused" types.
I mean even it's not an rescue, most of these animals werent born in the wild, where its unlikely they would survive. The Penguins btw, it seemed small, but it wasn't too small i would say, just its always better if animals have more space.
Fuck off
Dolphins need lots of space and entertainment
That moment when it’s epic rant time

For making this vid
I love all of your wildlife videos! And I agree with a lot of the points that you brought up. Especially the one about keeping dolphins in captivity and touch pools. I feel like touch pools are also harmful for the creatures in them because of the oils and other products that people put on thier hands.

The Aquarium Of the Pacific has a "touch" pool, only you can't actually touch the sharks/rays but you can buy a small cup of food to feed them and that's only at certain times of the day. I'd also like to add; SAVE THE VAQUITA!!!

you were so happy and hyped about the all the sharks and seals, but the dolphins were sad? a bit hypocritical as for example seals aren't that much dumber than dolphins and are hurt just as much.
They would release the whale sharks into the wild once they reach a certain size.
Nearly all whale sharks in aquariums are rescued and are later released, but in Japan, I think they're probs farming them
Sorry to contradict you Jason, but yes they do hunt both sharks and whales in Japan currently.
