  • Hi friends! This is a quick technique that I hope will help you catch your tiny gems into a wire-weaved bar channel for adding to your larger masterpiece frames! I am using 4 x 8 inches of 22 gauge, square soft wire (you can sub with round). I am weaving with 4 total feet of 28 gauge. The gemstones are 2 and 3mm, round faceted quartz and the tiny copper ball bead accents are 1mm.

    You mentioned mangled wire, I remember a while back I was doing a weave, and some ways through I noticed the "tail" end of my wires literally held the shape of my 4 fingers..... LOL....(DEATHGRIP)🤣

      LOL! that's what I call "MY coffee" gripping... try 'tea cup' gripping and put your pinky and ring finger up... makes it almost impossible for me to grip too tight as I feel 'dainty'. LOL hugs!

    Hi is it possible to set a rectangular stone in this way as I have a cute little pink sapphire which is I think a 3by 4.

    • @PerfectlyTwistedJewelry
      @PerfectlyTwistedJewelry  Год назад

      Hi Linda I haven't done a rectangle stone but if it's not too deep I have to imagine that it would work the very same way and it Sounds like the size of yours would work.

      I love your input, Heather, thank you! I don't do many and struggle with some, but this technique I thought would work for most of what we're doing in here. Like I say in the video, there are a lot of great channel sets out here in YTube, given by some very fine and talented artists so it's always good to search for more than one way too. Many hugs! Thanks again!

      @PerfectlyTwistedJewelry I, too, have struggled with channel settings, and I think everyone has. I'm so glad you don't mind my imput, I try to encourage others when I can. You are correct about the many wire artists that do channel settings, RUclips has helped me so much since I first started out. You have helped me so much with your design ideas and clear instructions on how to make beautiful pieces. Thank you so much for all that you do! ❤️

      I am doing a figure 8 weave on the back wires below the stone, the ones before and after the stone are one over one wraps on each frame wire. The two center wires are the ones that get lifted, then go over the stone. So this has two weave patterns, the one over one, before and after the stone and under the stone is the figure 8 weave. I hope that helps.

    If you don't mind, what is the technical name for the stones so I can find them to buy. I have looked everywhere and I know it's because I am not getting the name correct. Thank you. Love this bracelet. Very sweet. Thanks for sharing.

      Hi Kathy, you can search Etsy for these words... 3mm round gemstone diamomd cut... or a variation. This is a diamond- cut, I believe. Hope that helps!

      Try searching for 2 mm, faceted gemstones. Just know there are all kinds of gemstones. Be sure you're getting a real gemstone if that's what you want to use. If you go with Swarovski crystals, make sure that they aren't flat backed. You need faceted with a pointy back. I hope this helps and doesn't make things more confusing 😊

    If possible, can you give advice on where to get the stones?

    • @PerfectlyTwistedJewelry
      @PerfectlyTwistedJewelry  Год назад +1

      Good morning Brittany... there are a few ways to get these stones... if you are shopping for real stones, then there are good gemstone dealers throughout the internet (John E. Garsow, Gems and Minerals facebook.com/john.garsow)... I know they sell at shows, but you could always make contact and ask if they sell online or will be at a show near you... else, I think they are coming to the Colorado and Mineral and Fossil Show this April in Denver, Colorado). You could also search Etsy, there are many sellers in there too. Search for 3mm faceted, round gemstones... etc, oval, 4mm and so on.
      If you are looking for practice gems... then I'd go to the local Arc, Goodwill or even Flea Market and look for old fake gemstones within old jewelry... pry them out and practice with those. Or you can buy crystals to practice with too, probably from your near by Hobby or Craft store. Hope that helps to give you some ideas. Thanks for watching!

    So you go 2 and 2 on the way up and single on the way back down? Ty

    • @PerfectlyTwistedJewelry
      @PerfectlyTwistedJewelry  Год назад +1

      Good morning, Carol, it's actually the same on the way back down... if you flip the frame over when you reach the top and climb back 'up' from the back, you can see the pattern easier... maybe try one like that and then you can weave which ever way is most comfortable for you, this frame should be able to be weaved in both directions without issue. It's only when you set the stone that it becomes a 'front and back' side. Weave still works the same through the stones too. I hope that makes sense? Please let me know if you need more help.
