Installing My Alpicool Van Fridge | DIY No Build Minivan Camper Conversion |

  • This fridge took 30 seconds to "install." It's my belief that many van lifers overcomplicate the simplest of projects. Some of us need to "plug-n-play!"
I will use my van to run the fridge while I'm driving, or my Jackery power station, in conjunction with my solar panels. It's extremely rare that I'm in a place where my solar is ineffective.

Since the Jackery 240 has pass through charging, just leave your Alpicool fridge plugged into your Jackery, then use your 12v charger from your Jackery to your vehicle that way you will always be charging both when you drive.

Opening it might be a little hassle but it’s how you get the best seal for efficiency. It will loosen up somewhat with use.

Good luck - it seems to be a popular model. You should be able to leave it plugged into the Jackery while driving and then charge the Jackery via your car battery. I have a Bluetti, but I think the Jackery should work the same.

I have it. It's awesome. I have it plugged to the Jackery 240, and the Jackery connected to the outlet, so that the refrigerator is powered constantly and the Jackery gets power when the vehicle is on.

@@Pam_in_IN, Cool! One reason I may move one of those up higher on the budget priority list is in addition to using for camping, it could be used with a power station as backup for prolonged power failures. We are having utility caused power outages every summer thru autumn due to fire danger ⚠️. That was why I got Jackery’s 60w folding panel when it went on sale to keep it charged up.

I would think it would loosen up and get easier to open...but I would think you would want a tight fit to trap the cold air inside.

I'm surprised that you got a fridge. We have a dometic fridge that takes very little wattage. But we prefer our Yeti over a refrigerator. We don't put actual ice into the Yeti. The Yeti sits in our off grid location and we use those blue ice packs (loads of them), swap them out every other day to keep the Yeti cold. It's been very effective and no mess. How do you like your refrigerator as oppose to the Yeti? I supposed when we go camping with the Yeti, that'll be the real "true tell" on whether we still like the Yeti as much. I'm not a fan of having thing slushing around in there, so there's that. Perhaps we can put bunch of ice just in some dry bags while keeping the Yeti mess-free. Who knows. Though curious as to your thought on the fridge. Thanks.
