I enjoy watching your video clips of how folks are creative in turning their SUVs to campers. That being said, I can never be a full-time camper (par time okay). The catch is I need a real bathroom at home, not on wheels.
Those spaces where the seats went are fantastic storage. I'd probably take the back ones out, too, cuz i'm not sociable and don't plan to drive a crowd anywhere.
personally, i dont even cook so I'd be fine with just a microwave (given I'd have solar...), one plate, one fork, one knife, one spoon and one glass. Pretty much. I keep imagining how easy it would be for me to adapt to this space because i dont even need a kitchen at all.
@@vanessaruiz4705 TRUE! I actually started doing this at home after complaining about the dishes..Less dishes=Less things to wash..I didn't need 30 cups and a bunch of tupperware..I can't use a 20 set of butter knives, lol.
Love the minimalist build! It's like ultralight backpacking except the energy saved is your gas mileage. I see so many big builds with heavy house furniture, thick boards, with so many weighty “necessities “. Folks don't realize how quickly the weight adds up and the vehicle uses much more gas. This build with the open space is so nice and easier to live in.
Yes, but realize if you remove all but the driver seat you have shed several hundred pounds, besides opening up a lot of space. So don't hesitate to do that if you're not transporting anyone else.
She's doing great and is figuring what she needs...mobility, water, food, comfortable place to sleep, rechargeable stuff, emergency gear and ways to stay in touch!
This is a set up I've had in mind a long time. Love the minimal set up, I've been wondering why in the heck people dont do it this way more. I love all the room

I met Lesa at the Thanksgiving bash in 2019, while she was running the kitchen, and she was busier than a single mom of 100. So wonderful! She's a positive influence on the scene. (She's an amazing cook, tool)
OMG as a backpacker, I just LOVE this. A lot of these rigs give me the heebee-jeebees with stuff crammed everywhere. Lesa has everything a body could want and still doesn't seem wedged in. Well done!
I love how minimalistic this build is! I wasn’t expecting it to be too livable given how minimalistic it is, but watching how creative she is with it, it seems super comfy and livable!
Love Lesa's energy and the sheer joy she exudes while showing all of her tricks of living on the road. I'm loving stuff like this. For years now, I've been pining for a bucket list tent trailer ownership experience to take my kids camping, but as we own a minivan, I realize now that this is absolutely all we need. The kids can still sleep in a tent, and I would set myself up (with or without my wife) in the van at night. We would still use a dining tent to cook with, which keeps the bugs and rain out, or I'd improvise the dining tent to hang over the back of the open hatch of the van. Camping is going to be great from now on.
I love the evaporative cooling idea!!! I haven’t heard of using this in camping, although I have heard of wrapping water jugs with burlap and wetting it. Now I have an idea for you. When it’s real cold out you can put a piece of Reflectix under your sleeping pad. It will block the heat loss through the floor of your vehicle.
I have used broken up cardboard boxes that I then use for fires as I camp. I also use them for my hobo stove when no firewood is available. Put a little cooking oil on them and they burn better and longer.
I was sitting in my dodge caravan the other day when everything was out so I could put in my built bed frame, I loved the open space for an hour. I love my bed now.
I think Lesa is my spirit animal. 😁 What a fantastic interview of an incredible lady. This single video prompted my subscription to two new channels. Thanks!
I recently pulled the narrow twin bed frame out of mine and took the back seats out for more of an open approach like this. I like it way better. I'm a bigger guy, so the open area is great and it's less to mess with or rearrange. She's awesome.
I like that. That is more something i would prefer to do. Everything can basically be packed away in 1 large size pack. I can leave my dogs in back and if ever in an accident its less stuff to fly around the place, less stuff to lose and leaves everything accessible in case repairs to the vehicle is needed. Im feeling your style Lesa. So much room to move around
Lesa and her van set up are amazing. Great outlook on life, travel, and everything. They show how little it takes to get out there and be happy. I Wholeheartedly wish her all the best in her travels. And I will be checking her channel for more. Tnx for introducing us to her.
Got to say after watching few of these videos... This is my favourite. Love the simplicity of everything. Cheap. .. doable... looks fun as well. I really like this lady's style.
The minimalist way is for me the only way to go so I really appreciate her set up. The Vans and RVs and Trucks that people build out looks fabulous and they're so pretty. But those are just not the way I would want to do it so I really appreciate this 'unbuild' nomadic way to live. Thank you so much for sharing!
This woman knows what's up!!! I'm looking for vans and builds for the near future and the minimalist approach is my favorite. I don't plan to live off of it, but definitely use it for camping and roadtrips
Lesa cut her hair! Loved Bob Wells' interview with her a few years ago and glad she now has her own channel.. Thanks, Tristan, for connecting her with your audience!
I Love her bubbly personality! It's so contagious! I've been living in my SUV for the past 8 months and I'm Loving every bit of it! I should've done this years ago!
This should be the FIRST video anyone watches, I have done it all, many build outs etc, and came back to this same setup. So much more room, and movement is so much easier.... Everyone sees the buildouts that look custom but until you experience it first hand, well it looks like you have more room than you actually do...it is so confining it can be absurd.. but this setup makes one feel the space...what little of it there actually is!
I have so much respect for you and what your doing. I love how you put everything together. I'm slowly getting things together to do what you're doing. I'm disabled and have many limitations and I became homeless because of my medical conditions and financial situation. I have much respect for you. Your a true inspiration for other women who are struggling and going through a lot in their lives. May Our Creator of the Whole Universe bless you in abundance.
Love this setup. I travel in my van frequently and generally sleep in it 2 out of 3 nights when on the road. She has the right idea. You don't need much to live comfortably in a mini van.
Thanks, I'm glad you enjoy it. I think anyone interested in camping in any kind of small space-SUV, van, truck, etc.-can learn things from these videos, even if the vehicle itself isn't your preference.
I loved this. I purchased a new 2014 Chrysler Town and Country with the intent that some day I would take it on the road. I’ve been watching many minivan no-build campers but have to say this is my favorite. My son, daughter-in-law and three grandkids live with me and my 93-year-old mother. I also homeschool the grandkids. The only thing that is keeping me and the kids from traveling is mom needs us right now. Sadly, our traveling days will not start until she’s gone. When that day does come, the kids and I will set out on our adventures. I will leave my two middle seats in and use the front passenger seat for the oldest child. The rear of the van will be for supplies. We will have to tent camp because I just don’t see any solution for the four of us sleeping inside the van. Thanks for this video.
This is my 3rd time watching... Lesa, you're my hero! I'm setting up my camper van today for a week in the woods. In the past I took way too much stuff. Paring it down to have space rather than stuff is my ultimate goal! Very cool setup!!
This is brilliant! She has some great ideas. I love this idea, that you don't need an elaborate build out, simple will do. The experiences are the most important part:)
Lesa, your set up is exactly what I would want. Your description of your set up is short and to the point. I love the openness of your area. I thought it was a van and then I think you said it is an SUV. Thank you so much for sharing.
I love the non-build set up. I carry a lot more stuff: hiking, backpacking, cycling, & kayaking gear plus my yarn for knitting and crocheting. Thank you Lesa.
This was my favorite of the videos I have watched. This is my way of traveling except I don't know if she hikes or anything like that but I have a lot more gear for hiking and sking and I also have more clothes but I only plan to do this two or three months out of the year and try to work part-time the rest of the year. So this minimalist arrangement is just perfect for me as it doesn't take so much time and effort to try to build out. I don't need a lot when I'm traveling and I can't understand having all the comforts of home when you're camping, particularly when you're just trying to vacation. To me part of camping is roughing it.
Hetting the vibe that this smart lady has done some long distance hiking....with the equipment that she has and the fact that she has all she needs in a small amount of items....i like her set up. she has more room to spread out in a small space
Omg...I adore Lesa! What a smart, resourceful, and budget-friendly awesome lady! And her set up is absolutely wonderful, so neat and easy to live in! Going to definitely follow her channel!
I also love the little ‘candles that turn off after 5 or so hours. They also come with AAA batteries. These candles are almost like a pet. NEVER EVER leave anything on the roof. A friend who lost (then had returned) a Guenari ($$$) violin taught me to only leave things on the hood right in front of the steering wheel. Plus, the wiper can hold things from blowing away. Amazing how often I’ve started to drive off and thought to myself, How did that thing get there! Great meeting you both.
Hi from Sunny Cape Town South Africa! Last year I spent 5 months in Georgia in Eastern Europe, living in a Mercdes Benz W414 Vaneo I "converted", flying tandem paragliders for spending money. My initial setup was the same, but I soon bought a piece of board and some 50 x 50mm for legs. I then found some plastic veggie crates used EVERYwhere there, and played with the Tetris of how best to arrange them under the board I'd just bought. Once I had the crate layout locked down, I sawed legs to the correct height to make a comfortable seat/bed with enough headroom, and screwed them in place. That was good enough for 5 months of fulltime vanlifing, but the extra space in the Caravan would make fulltime a little more comfy, for sure. Covid scuttled similar plans for this year. Passenger vehicles, rather than cargo carriers are much better for "no build" camper van builds because they're already built for comfort with heaters and facilities. I do also have a Sprinter cargo van here in SA that doubles as a work vehicle and a camper with the loading ramp doubling as a bed. Enjoy.
What a neat setup and its not even expensive, is it. Good job. You are very creative and really its all you need. People pay attention! You could do this.
I love this video! As a backpacker I appreciate how resourceful she is with her small space. Thank you for giving us a tour that shows how comfortable you can be without a lot of expensive building.
Lesa, I am also minimalist and enjoyed seeing your practical and functional solutions. I leave you two ideas that I put into practice and maybe they can be useful to you: an aluminum chaise-longue, light and folding allows you to lie down and sit comfortably in and out of the car and still has space, underneath, for storage. Perhaps you can also install elastic nets, on the ceiling and sideways, very practical to arrange loose clothes and light objects. Health and Good trips for you.
I like this idea better than anything I've seen anywhere. I'm a long time camper and I like the idea of being able to put the seats back in the van if I wanted. This set up with a simple tarp and a couple poles on the side for a little shade and cover would make it very homey. Well done. Lesa.
Lesa, thank you for your simple and direct way of dealing with living in a camper van. I love the minimalist approach. Yours is the first video that makes sense and makes me think that I can do it.
One thing I really love about this build is you could do this with two people. The bed set up is so easy to put up/take down making the van extra spacious. Usually with these van builds I couldn’t imagine having more than one person living in it but if you did like this it would work out a lot better.
I take my hat off to this lady. What a cracking good set up she has. I have taken some inspiration from her van tour to incorporate into my van build currently being done here in UK. I am so jealous of all that sunshine you have there ! Best wishes Mike County Durham
I met Lesa at the 2020 RTR and saw her setup. Amazing! I wish I could get past the overwhelm and do this in my vehicle AND in my sticks and bricks for that matter!
I've followed Leesa for quite awhile. I thought I had my jeep patriot set up great but this set up is the best! Sooo inspiring and I'll be working harder to minimalize!

I like the minimalist idea compare to a fully build camper. Less clutter means less maintenance, I think I'm gonna follow her way. Thanks for sharing and greetings from Indonesia..
Great interview great display on how it can be done… Actually this woman has more than enough! So reinforcing the way I plan on living… Come on March!!!… The last three videos I watched just reinforced me and confirmed me getting the hell out of here and on the road! Great job!
IF you have the space for a real wicker basket for your veggies, I think that it's even better than the silver bags...I use n keep both now in my Cherokee. One major key is to take all veggies out of their packaging plastic - use vegetable bags or wrap them in clean COTTON or linen kitchen towels and then place in the basket. When hot out sprinkle or dip in water for that coolness. I even repack baby spinach this way, it will keep about a week

Awesome. Proof that anyone can transition to this life, even with limited funds.

The open space of this arrangement is VERY appealing. Why does everyone think they need a kitchen cabinet when they do van life?

Thank you, I like Lesa's RUclips Channel. I love minimalism.
I have taken some inspiration from her van tour to
incorporate into my van build currently being done here in UK. I am so jealous of all that sunshine you have there !
Best wishes Mike County Durham
I met Lesa at the 2020 RTR and saw her setup. Amazing! I wish I could get past the overwhelm and do this in my vehicle AND in my sticks and bricks for that matter!
Wow, I am very impressed with Lesa's setup. Very interesting video. Loved her clean and open home. Gave me some wonderful idea's. Thanks.
This is what I had been looking along all the way - totally non built - very inspiring. Anybody can do it ! Thank you so much !
I've followed Leesa for quite awhile. I thought I had my jeep patriot set up great but this set up is the best! Sooo inspiring and I'll be working harder to minimalize!
Incredibly easy no-build. This is awesome.
Lesa lives so simply. I was surprised at how uncluttered her van was.
Lesa was very inspiring to watch! Thank you for sharing your non build van with us! Happy and safe trails to you!!
Love seeing there are other HSP's and empaths on the road!
What's an hsp?
@@uber2tuber highly sensitive person to sensory stimuli. and empath is someone who feels other peoples energies so strongly that it affects them until they can cleanse themselves of the energy, or it dissipates. both of these are traits we are apparently born with. around 20% of the population are HSP's.
I like the minimalist idea compare to a fully build camper.
Less clutter means less maintenance, I think I'm gonna follow her way.
Thanks for sharing and greetings from Indonesia..
Magnificent! I am so impressed by you, miss!!! Thanks for sharing, Lesa and Tristan - such a great and helpful video! Wonderful! Love you!!!
Hi Tristan (and Lesa!) Thanks for having us on your journey!
Great interview great display on how it can be done… Actually this woman has more than enough! So reinforcing the way I plan on living… Come on March!!!… The last three videos I watched just reinforced me and confirmed me getting the hell out of here and on the road! Great job!
I’m right there with you! 😃
You got me excited for you! 😂
the evaporation cooling system is such a great idea....I can sure use that for vegetables
