The Balkans were always known as the powder keg of Europe and have never been truly united excluding Yugoslavia somewhat. But today, in the new HOI4 DLC Battle for Bosporus, that will change.
Bulgaria will be the leader and unifier of the Balkans and we will form the Balkan Federation! The project will finally be complete and all the people of the Balkans will be united under 1 prosperous nation. That being if we do finally manage to achieve that dream. It's quite annoing how hard doing the balkan federation the peaceful way is. I have tried by rushing the political tree super hard, destabilizing and influencing Greece and Romania non-stop and using 4 spies to influence them, still fucking cancer to do. I understand Bulgaria should be hard but I think Bulgaria is waaay too hard. They should do some balancing, definitely... Waiting for Feedback Gaming to cheat it I guess...

You're not wrong but you also don't want to limit the player's freedom so much. I think ideally every focus tree should be able to allow you options in how to develop your country.
I tried Bulgaria out myself, i think paradox sticking to the 70 day focuses for so much of the focus tree really hampers it. Bu the time you're ready to do anything, it's late 1939, ww2 starts, and all the majors completely outclass you, and everything is guaranteed.
U gotta really rush all the expansion focuses no time for industry and what not. You can start doing expansion decisions in 1938 that way

@@herecomesthatboy1961 I think they need to rework all focuses days, like, most of them are just not worth the wait and others are just not historical, like War against the USSR taking 70 days as Germamy and most political focuses.

Endsieg 1945 you can release Austria and Czech for a little frontline, make defend only divisions and defend the Oder, Rhine and Italy please like so he can see
@Lucero but if you will you can also delete your divisions in italy for better supply and make 1 defend division (9 infantry battalions, 1 entrenchment). Then convert all divisions to it and you gain very mich artillery. With that you can build attack divisions.

Bulgaria is actually my favourite country to play in HOI4, i have a lot of fun playing as facist Bulgaria and i made my best game too.
Yes i didn't like to play as a major country, i prefer to play as a minor.
I think minor countries are better to play as a new person, it will harder in the long run but the majors can get really overwhelming for new players
They really need to stop with the 70 day focuses. A lot of the focuses in the new trees need to be 35 days or something like that

It kind of makes sense that Bulgaria can decrease world tension, because after WW1 a lot of people thought that the cause of the next major war would be Bulgaria and the Balkans.

I love the new DLC for Bulgaria. Bulgaria is fun to play, I've been having tons of fun with it plus, it's super easy to play Bulgaria. 20pp is your friend until you intergrate everyone. In Road to 56 I usually play as Bulgaria.

My biggest problem with the new dlc is that all 3 countries are so crippled that they can't really do any cool shit until after the world is already on fire and factions are established.

For anyone wondering, and maybe even Tommy yourself or Markoni, I have developed a strategy to do a Communist run as you can see below:
I unified with Greece, Yugoslavia and Romania by early/mid 1940 before they get pulled into the axis or allies. You would be best off rushing the communist route in the focus tree until you finally reach the focus that gives you the faction. Make sure to condemn the rebels in Macedonia and boost relations with Yugoslavia and they should nearly always join your faction when you complete the focus. 'Perpetual friendship' or something I think its called. Eventually you should reach that focus that gives you communist influence decisions on all Balkan countries, so start spamming that on Romania and Greece as its around a 0.20 daily drift, with additional decisions to boost communism by 10% pretty much instantly with 250 manpower and 1000 guns.
Important note, make sure you have got a spy agency up and running with 2 spies before you do the focus to start communist influencing in the Balkans. Combine this with a spy cabinet minister to get another agent, and the focus that gives you another one on top of that. Use 2 on Romania and 2 on Greece to boost their communism in conjunction with your influence decisions. I think they should flip at around 60-70% communism support. Then take the focus that invites all communist countries into the faction (Yugoslavia should already be in it from earlier, so they don't need communism boosting.) Then Voila, you should have a Balkan Alliance, and then simply go down the tree to annex them all.
TLDR: Speed is important to get this all done before mid/late as the axis come knocking on Yugoslavia and Greece.
Exactly, after many failed attempt this is what I came up with as well. It's surprisingly well thought out focus tree and perfect for people who prefer to peacefully gain territory. It's kinda annoying that it's impossible to flip Albania in time and Romania does focuses that slow the process but when you finally annex all of them it's worth the waiting

I saw something about the next dlc having the code name “Barbarossa” so probably Russian tree. Would also make sense for the tank modifying.
In regards to your "40width as soon as possible" tip. It's very much op. Made 14x4's as the Soviets before the war and when the germans "invaded" me they fell so hard. I lost a couple of hundred thousand men in the war while the Germans lost over 10 Million in a year.

They need to change some of the focuses to 35 days, or even 7. Its so long to actually get to the meat of the country, and even then you have to fight one of the major factions. Hoi4 AI fuck over peace deals too, so much is broken.

I never understood how to correctly do 40 widths and still have enough for green air. It takes me too long to get Artillery for 14 4s. 40 Width pure Infantry is pretty easy but idk if they're any good.

i hope paradox devs are working on this problem of no time for focus thing. look at the focus trees of soviet and italy they are too small that you are not in a hurry to finish them but in the latest updated and dlcs many nations started to get enourmous focus trees where you have no time to complete it. 2 months and a week is too much time for 6 infastructure on 3 states for fuck sake . hope they reduce all the focus times to less than 2 months or something because its impossible to keep up with the world as the newer and fresher focus tree countries
