When I was a boy we used to go swimming with the school to Doncaster Baths. After our lesson the RAF from Finningley used to practice by jumping off of the top stage with an individual life raft. It was great for us to watch them.

Stephane is a good mechanical engineer. hears a complaint or a request for a change in the design of the harness and does it, none of this "well I designed it this way so live with it" crap that seems to be a recurring theme in consumer engineering today. good job, both of you.

Over 20 years ago since I did my off shore survival course at Fleetwood. Absolutely fantastic setup there.

how much of it can you remember? if they are as good at instructing as they look and sound, a good chunk of the info should still be up in that brain box :)

It's really good to know about the fetal position thing, that could be life saving. Anything to do with water and stuff like this is always intense and a bit nerve racking. One wrong move and you're fucked, you're gonna drown and if there's no one to help you then it's sleeping with the fishes permanently sadly.
Brilliant training and as always fair play to Guy for doing it with no fuss at all.

    Survival suits? Hello?
We use them all the time in Alaska. We also have immersion suits; especially if we’re flying over water! Yea you’re wearing an immersion suit the whole time. No choice, either don it or you’re not getting on the heli-period.
I wear my immersion suit when I’m flying my own plane- especially over water. That tiny bit of neoprene and silicone etc will be the difference between life wnd death in Alaska.

In fairness it's useless without a life jacket, ideally you want to try and float on your back as level as possible
