    I love the first one that has lots of space for notes and writing! I really like bibles with added historical information to go with readings and note taking guides. I have been reading from The New Jerusalem Bible.

      I love that about the first Bible too! Ooh I haven’t heard of the New Jerusalem Bible.

    I have the first one but I also have started collecting the esv illustrated journals that are one book of the bible and have a blank page for notes. They’re actually a paperback copy so pages will be easier with highlights. I only have three of them for now but plan on getting James this week. Have had a bad week so hoping studying this will help calm me down x

    Great selection, I find it really useful to have a mix of translations. Have you seen the ‘She Reads Truth’ bibles? I think you would love the astectic of them plus they have some great extras in them and room to make notes. I’ve just bought an ESV journalling bible to add to my collection of NIV, CSB and study bibles.

      Yes I have and they’re so gorgeous! I saw a beautiful pink one that is just for psalms and proverbs that I have my eye on haha. Do they do fill Bibles too?

    I also love the NLT! I find myself reaching for it far more than my NIV. I’d say the ESV is my main go-to but the NLT is definitely my second favorite! I use the ESV Study Bible, the Reformation Study Bible, and just a thinline NLT.

    • @eileen2099
      @eileen2099 2 года назад

      Hi, could you explain the differences between NLT, NIV, and ESV?

    • @maggieprice357
      @maggieprice357 2 года назад

      @@eileen2099 Sure! So for starters the NIV and the NLT are from the same translational philosophy so they’re going to be more similar to one another than they are to the ESV in terms of how they read. There are two translation philosophies in Bible translation: formal equivalence and dynamic equivalence. Formal equivalence simply means that the translators try to word-for-word translate the Greek and Hebrew of the original scriptures into the exact English equivalences and retain as much as possible the sentence structure of the original. Good examples of these are the KJV, NKJV, ESV, and NASB. Dynamic equivalence is a thought-for-thought translation where they extrapolate the meaning of what was being said but put it in a more contemporary sentence structure and verbiage more resembling how English speakers talk today. Good examples are the NIV, NLT, and CSB. There are also paraphrases which are not actual translations such as The Message. Both translation philosophies are excellent and produce accurate, readable, and trustworthy translations of the Bible. I think that it is always a good idea to own multiple translations of the Bible because they can give you different perspectives and help you to further understand the text.
      The ESV still retains the beautiful prose of the KJV but is translated from better manuscripts and is written in our contemporary English. While it is written in contemporary English, it does retain exact Hebrew and Greek words that are traditional “Bible-ese” at this point that are not used in our everyday language. A good example of this is the word “behold”, whereas the NIV and the NLT would say, “Look”.
      On the spectrum of literal to dynamic out of the three, the ESV is the most literal, followed by the NIV, followed by the NLT. But all of three of them are excellent. Does that help?

    I love my NLT Illustrated Bible, but the new version is sewn and not glued, and the pages don't come out. I like my adult Life Application Bible in the New King James Version. The NLT Illustrated and the Cultural Background Bible are my two favorites. I have a lot of Bibles, too.

    Nice bibles.
    If you enjoy archaeology there are two archaeology bibles. I own both of them.
    One is by crossways and is ESV and the other is NIV and made by Zondervan.
    Both are nice bibles, I’d personally recommend the NIV one slightly more although, for me personally, I cannot do NIV.
    The translation is too loose, I call it the non inspired version.
    But if you like using the NIV translation then I can recommend the NIV archaeological bible

    • @thefaithlady
      @thefaithlady  Год назад +1

      It depends on how big of a Bible you can fit in it. If you can get a nice chunky Bible in it I would recommend that NLT illustrated study Bible but if not I would probably go for a more thinline one like the sunflower Bible.
