Love that first-person POV camera. The constant panning started to get to me as a spectator, but it's really great for the operator. Great details on the build, too. That top mirror is a nice touch.

When you drain the battery to low, you lose thrust. Therefore, if you wish to totally ruin the battery, you keep the throttle forward. So, I cut the throttle (evident in the Sound System). When I cut the throttle, the Sound System plays the "Deaccelerate Sound, and eventually idle and shout off sounds.) Had I kept the throttle forward, I would have trashed the battery.

Great video. I’m not a modeler, but I am a pilot. Curious, how large in scale is this P51. The detail seems to be real precise. Is the camera a GoPro or a specialized unit for model airplanes?

This is a Freewing 55” P-51 “Iron Ass”. It came with built in speakers. I bought a Chip from Germany, and programmed it with sounds from Kermit Weeks, Louisianan Kid, Quick Silver… It has a Fatshark Video Camera, Transmitter, Gimbal, controlled by a Futaba Radio connected to Fatshark Goggles with Head Tracking. The Windscreen was a bit loose, but I since fixed it. I have an 80” P40 which is much heavier and flies really well, also sounds programmed from “American Dream” P40N. BTW, I had an Uncle, 9th Wave Omaha Beach, Bronze Medal, Purple Hearts…

You are correct, but you need to understand Batteries, and a Sound System. When you drain the battery to low, you lose thrust. Therefore, if you wish to totally ruin the battery, you keep the throttle forward. So, I cut the throttle (evident in the Sound System). When I cut the throttle, the Sound System plays the "Deaccelerate Sound, and eventually idle and shout off sounds.) Had I kept the throttle on, I probably would have trashed the battery, but the Sound System would continue to play "Moving Sounds". Understand?

@@outwiththem Well now, the Foam P-51 is made by Freewing, available at Motion RC. The Sound System is comprised of a Sound Board, Amplifier, and Speakers. The Sound Board is from Germany. I programmed the Board with sounds from P-51 videos on the Net. The plane costs around $450.00, Sound System about $150.00. The Speakes came with the P-51 "Iron Ass". The Radio costs around $600.00 and the Transmitters and Receivers cost about $300.00. My planes have an "FPV - First Person View" System. You have Transmitters, Receivers, Goggles... all cost around $700 - $800. Yes, expensive. It takes hours of preparation for a five minute flight.

@@outwiththem And the batteries cost around $200.00. This P-51 uses a 3600LIPO for the Engine, 1100LIPO for the Head Tracking, and a 1100 LIPO for the Sound System.

Many people fly very large jets, airliners, bombers...costs around $40,000. Vist "Georgia Jets", Tripple Tree Aerodrome - Joe Nall. Search the Net - many videos...
