I watched the musical over 40 years ago . I watched some people walk out . It helped me understand better , I was glad I stayed for the rest of the movie. It was great .
I saw this tour in Chattanooga in '97. I have been searching for ANY recording of it ever since... The awesomeness of Neeley is a given, but The Crucifixion music in this one is just next level. I would give almost anything for a soundboard recording of this show.
I will never. forget. as a young teenager my Episcopal Church at the time loaded. us in abus and allowed anyone who wanted to attend to travel so, controversial at the time to make up our own minds. Most amazing performances.
I was having a very bad day, and then found this 2 years after it was posted. But i went to the performance done in Cleveland in 1972. It was my first rock concert and something i will never forget.
The orchestration of the Crucifixion is absolutely beautiful, I feel like it portrays very accurately how Christ felt dying on the cross. And the guitar parts that sound like modern worship music could be interpreted as Christ accepting his fate, and the parts of the Gethsemane theme playing over and over is very nicely done. And the final breath of Jesus is so sad, because what he basically did on the cross was suffocate. And John 19:41 Is towards the end is dramatic in this production which I like to interpret that part as Mary discovering the tomb that he was buried and seeing that no body was there.
Oh man, thank you so much for this. We saw this tour as teenagers and have been reminiscing about it ever since. Your mastering and drum tracks add so much to the recording and the quality sounds amazing. Carl sounds just as beautiful as I remember.
Any time my friend. I am glad you like the performance. It was a fun show to be a part of. Very talented actors, musicians and crew. It's a nice drum part to play.
C a r l Anderson: The myth 🕯 The Legend 🕯 His pipes are….,,,, What do you even say? Sick❣️ A n d He’s old here❣️ He was U n d e r rated. Wow just wow. And he can ACT as well! A fine performer . I saw him on this tour. 🕯
Thank you so much for this! I just played this for my husband, not only because it's amazing, but I wanted him to hear my cousin Chris Carey singing as Caiphais. Everyone is incredible but I had to comment to let you know one of the first things he said was "who is that on drums, he's a great drummer!". Now that I found this I'll be listening over and over. This has always been my favorite musical, good to know I still remember every word to every song.
Thanks a lot Suzi. Chris has an amazing voice. The best Caiphais I have heard. We also had the best Jesus and Judas. Can't beat Ted and Carl! Really fun show to play! Great times! Glad your husband enjoyed the drumming!
@@theomordey The entire cast sounds amazing! Honestly if you lived in Central NJ my husband would be asking if you had time to drum in his band lol Seriously though, you are an incredible drummer! And yes, Chris is amazing and was in extremely good company! His Dad and my Mom were brother and sister (RIP) and the Carey clan was Blessed with a lot of good singers and musicians. Be well my friend!
Theo Mordey: Hopping over here from the source audio page and THANK YOU for the re-mastering. It brought back fantastic memories of seeing this A.D. tour multiple times. Truly love many of the refreshed orchestrations & tempos for this production. A great company; onstage, backstage, and in the pit. Your execution is perfection. And when coupled with Carl's material, especially, it's chill-inducing.
@@theomordey No, thank YOU. For your work, and for sharing. I honestly can't get enough! Question: do you know who is credited with the orchestrations/ arrangements for the A.D. Tour? I can't find a name in my playbills/ souvenir program.
It was the highlight of every show. When the thunder got loud at the end, they made it look like Ted was struck by lightning and he'd fling himself onto his knees. He usually got a standing ovation for Gethsemane.
What? You played the drums at this show? Wow awesome. Great job. I've never seen or heard any live shows just the movie. I was blown away by the performance of Carl on the first song. I'm stilll listening to the audio as I'm writing you. My name is John. I'm living in Honduras. Loved the movie not this is my favorite performance. I wish I could see a video of this performance

Saw this tour few months later, (edit: actually spring in 96? Isn't that when 25th tour was)?, at previously known Deer Creek in Noblesville Indiana, it's an outdoor stadium with covered pavilion and big lawn....it rained that day so needless to say it was perfect.....we ended up getting in back of pavilion and sad by people that said they knew Ted...who knows but it was Awesome
I saw this production 3 times and yes he was on a cross.... during the finale, the cross lit up and rose very slowly up above the stage and out of sight...it was incredibly dramatic and magnificent 🥰
Im never attracted to ppl at first look no matter how attractive they are conventionally. But this dude as Caiphus goddam Ill marry him after listening to this lol
Ted Neeley and Carl Anderson are one of the greatest duos of all time. There’s just no words to encapsulate how perfect they are in their roles
They are perfect for the roles. You can’t beat them.

Loved your performance. Not an easy show to play. Lots of changes, tempos, intros and exits to hold the music together.

This is undoubtedly the best show EVER created! A true masterpiece!! God Himself

There's a very poor quality one somewhere on here I saw about a year ago.
