Were there any repairs to areas where paint was missing like from road rash or rock chips on the nose of the car? My paint is in nice shape but no amount of "paint correction" can fix missing paint. What's the best process for this kind of repair?
@hampsonlaboratory1363 we did a tremendous amount of touch ups on the 928… each one is different but while they look significantly better , you and I will always know they are there… what it does do is draw an admirers eye away from it , so it won’t stand out .. just kinda blends in.
They truly are! Interior is shot. Another video coming dealing with that soon. It needs more work than detailing although Shawn and Doug did their very best!
Absolutely love this!! The 928 is the most overlooked and underappreciated Porsche ever made! The detailing guys did a fantastic job👍 If there’s a manual swap on the way I’ll faint😂
Each week I am looking forward to a new video of Jayread, so much fun watching a person with same passion for the 928 and more importantly with a limited budget trying to figure out what and what not, fantastic content
What an awesome phenomenal job!!! Kudos to those guys professionalism. To think, I just to live in New Boston NH in the early 2000's nor that I could have afforded a Porsche back then... If, I wasn't located in Texas now for sure, I will be taking mine straight to them, what a big difference! Anyways, another great video Jay.
That was sooo therapeutic, a wonderful finish. Would loved to have seen more of the interior revival but maybe that’s for another time. Drive her and love her 😊
Happy to hear you enjoyed it! Oh yes, the interior update is very much coming! We’ll do much more than detailing though. It’s shot and needs replacing.
PPF is a personal choice but as a point of order you should not put PPF on top of a ceramic coating. It will not adhere properly. There are coatings specifically for PPF.
Like anything, it is a range. It all depends on individual requirements of the job. Anywhere from $2,800 to $4,000+ depending on the needs of the vehicle and the coating choice. Jay’s was somewhere in that ballpark. Up to him if he wants to share.
As good a job as they did a new paint job would have offered better results, not cost much more and a MUCH better investment, as long as the color wasn't changed. Pro tip, be willing to take it to a reputable shop in a low cost state.
@@YBSSRide at least $8-10k to have that paint all re-done correctly. You can’t take a classic Porsche to Maaco. I got an estimate to repaint my ‘01 E39 and it was $7,000 for reputable shop. That is without Porsche tax.
We used Kamikaze coatings. Base coat is Miyabi. Top coat is ISM. Trim coating was GTechniq C4. If you have other product questions specifically, let us know. Thanks!
@@JAYREAD you say nine one one over there? It’s never been called a nine one one, nor has it ever been called a nine two eight. But maybe you guys say it differently, it just catches me off guard
@@928pcar nope! The tradition in the UK is 9 eleven and 9 two eight. Don’t know why but that’s how it is! I do my best to say 9 twenty eight but sometimes old habits are hard to quash!

Awesome!! So satisfying to watch and congratulations 👏🏼
Thank you!
I haven't buffed my '86 928 for over a year now. You certainly got me into the mood. She needs a bit more care.
Or at least I may have got you in the mood to get someone else to do it for you?!
@@JAYREAD naaah, only I touch it
I miss my 928. I wrote it off August Friday 13th, 2006. Best car i ever had.
What happened to it?
Amazing how that flat prussian blue came back into life again! Well done !!🎉🎉🎉
Did approximately the same on my 86.5 mostly Oem single stage. Greta job
Love the before and after.

Wish you would show the interior

It's a bloated monstrocity, zero driving enjoyment.
Thats a great job 👏
Look at that difference! Lots of work put in it and it paid off!
It really did, Andy!

That’s a lot of elbow grease but the car looks years younger now. Can’t wait to see it in person!

Good effort guys.
Might be a strange comment but,
When hand washing the 928 panels do you get a feel for how special the shape of the car is?
It’s more when I get into it and start driving it. You realize it’s something very special and unique.
Very interesting, Did I miss hearing the cost?

Great job , the flap in the fuel door is not installed properly, it should be at the bottom of the circle and should go down to protect the paint
Thanks! Yes, we’ll get that done, not hard.

So the question is, what dos a paint treatment like this cost?
$2-3k
what brand of products?

HOW MUCH!? :)
Two men working 54 hours, what do you expect them to charge for results like this?!
I can’t believe how many body shops leave visible sanding marks in the body filler. I have two myself. So bush league.
Can we start saying the name properly? It’s a 9-28, not 9-2-8. You wouldn’t say 9-1-1 you say 9-11
