I regularly install car seats in customer's cars. It might be their pride and joy (which is how I treat my own cars) or they might treat it like it's a disposable object (which seems to be your approach). It's not for me to judge but it is my job to help people make well informed decisions and I see plenty enough damage from the installation of car seats that I always recommend using a mat. If a customer chooses not to use one then that's fine - I'm not not forcing them to buy one.
