    It's really sharp when stopped down on my EOS m100. Much sharper than ef 50mm 1.8. Mount is a little bit too tight. Sometimes when used against bright light, it does something weird with enchancing the contrast and pictures come magical just out of camera.

    I’ve watched a handful of your TT artisan reviews. General consensus seems to be, shoot between F4 and F8 and it brings a lot of value to the table for the cost. Great reviews! Quick, simple and technical. Perfect for my tastes. Thank you!

      His reviews are basically for pixel peepers who want sharpness and perfection across the board. These lenses don't do that, it has its own character and charm that makes it great.

  • @deffunc
    @deffunc Год назад +6

    Paired with a Fujifilm X-E1 and its 16MP sensor the lens is a very good match as it provides vintage like character without vintage flaws. The main issue that I've noticed is in close-ups where there is visible longitudinal aberration. High contrast areas in front of the focal plane have a magenta fringe, areas behind a cyan fringe. This is no longer discernible at distances greater than 1m so it barely matters.

  • @goodmythicalmukbang3757
    @goodmythicalmukbang3757 2 года назад +33

    This lens has character that is worth more than its asking price. Fantastic real world performance vs nitpicking that nobody really does.

    Hi Christopher, I compared your review of this lens and the XF35 f1.4 and noticed the color produced by these two lenses differ greatly, with the Fuji being much more saturated(at 2:46 here and 2:10 in the XF35 f1.4 review respectively). Is it because of the different lighting condition for different review videos, Fuji XT2 vs XT3, or is it the result of the lenses themselves?

    • Anyone whos purchasing or purchased ttartisans 35mm f1.4- it has a 39mm filter thread & if wanting to use filters on front of Lens & you already have filters but larger sized ones, just buy some 'filter step-up rings'..for example: 39-52mm, this may save you money, rather than buying same filter/filters in a 39mm size too.
    Enjoy! 👍

    I have this Lens exactly 8 days before xmas last year, really like it much. Haptics, optics, fine for so little money (paid new 58 EUR into 2021) Matching lens hood from TTA costs a few bucks. It's only that ~53mm (x1.52) on APS-C are not my fave focal length.
    Chris, the TTA Lens hood is 100% pure metal - not plastic. It costs separately bought 6 to 8 EUR.

    I've had this for almost 6 months now and I love it! Sharpness is not everything for me, I have other glass for sharpness. But this thing has a lot of character and it's a steal for the price! In fact, this made me go all in with TTArtisan buying all their APS-C lenses for my Nikon Z fc which would otherwise be restricted to 3 pieces of dark zooms from Nikon.

    I used this lens on a Fuji Xt1 I bought in kit. I sold it since but I regret doing so. It was an awesome lens to use, with great mechanical quality, and very nice rendering for portraits. Technically far from perfect, as shown in this review, but the results are lovely.

      I still have it on my X-T1 as my EDC (Everyday Camera) and it's such an enjoyable process to document daily life with it. One moment you're documenting streets/random things next thing you know you're at F1.4 for a portrait and it got its own character indeed.

    In terms of VALUE it gets 10 out 10. I've got some vintage lenses that cost me more and have worse performance, which out of some nostalgia, people don't mind in old lenses and refer to it not as a flaw but as a "character feature" these days. At the price TTArtisan 35mm f/1.4 model is offered, there is nothing to complain about.

    the lens quality varies by copy... and mine seems like the optics doesn't put in a perfect straight line, so some parts of the image can have lighter or darker vignette. i already have it for two years... if you have this lens, keep it inside a plastic bag that was sealed or in a nice drybox... it can caught some fungus pretty easily.

    Hey Christopher.
    I have one of these lenses for my Canon M-mount bodies (M10, M6, M100), but it doesn’t work, because apparently it requires some specific firmware from TTArtisan. I’ve searched all over the internet, no luck. I’ve contacted both TTArtisan and Canon, no response from either.
    Do you have any idea where I can find this firmware?

    Focuses past Infinity. It's not a complaint because it is so inexpensive, but I wish the lens did not go past the Infinity mark. I might have a bad habit of just going to the stop and expecting to be at Infinity. Everything else about this lens is fantastic. I bought the silver one. I also see that the voigtlander 23mm and 35mm lenses have the same issue. I would be angry if I bought a $700 lens with this issue. Chris love your reviews keep them coming and thank you for everything.

    • @matangox
      @matangox 2 года назад

      "Bad Fuji focus"? What camera are you using? The Fuji xt3 or xt4, with the latest firmware updates, havem pretty decent focus, just slightly behind Sony cameras in the same price range. In certain situations, when paired with new lenses, even better than Sony and close to Canon's dual pixel autofocus.
      From what I heard, the new generation of x mount cameras are significantly better and will only improve with future updates.
