    I really like this firebox, excellent! For now I'm using a grill plate from dollar general ( small cookie sheet with holes about as large as the firebox) for a surface. I might add some hardware store bolts and nuts to make legs, or dig an intrcate fire pit and use green woods.

    I received the Bushbox Xl Ti. It weights about just over 500g with the case. There are so many scratches on the unit. I think the Ti material is more susceptible to scraches then stainless steel. I like the way I can use my Evernew alcohol stove with this unit. I carry 4 skewers with the Bushbox so that I can cook lamb kabobs outdoors.

    • @livingsurvival
      @livingsurvival  9 лет назад

      Yi Li sounds like a nice bit iof kit. yes, after you burn it in and wash it a few times with steel wool which is what I use the scratches will not be an issue.

    I've been seeing this in a few reviews but most of them "talked more than used it". I loved yours for doing some real time dinner-style cooking! From start to finish it was pretty AWESOME. Thanks! Btw, I liked the pot combo. What materials was that made of? Might get that too. Seems to make a great day trekking bundle. Bravo job and combo kit. Look forward to seeing more of your videos too (new Sub here).

    Good review Living, now that you've tested both the Firebox and the Bushbox which one do you prefer? I've got a titanium Bushbox and I love it. I really can't fault it. 1.2 lb of pure joy including the cordura bag. Thanks for the post.

    • @livingsurvival
      @livingsurvival  9 лет назад

      TheRunereaper both are really similar. I would love the titanium.

    • @TheRunereaper
      @TheRunereaper 9 лет назад

      CharlieTango 1 Hello CT. I can't agree that the Bushbox is a copy. Firebox almost got the perfect design but for my money it's too heavy, as is the SS Bushbox. The only similarity is the fact that they are "boxes". The folding mechanism together with the ultra-fast flip-down, integral grate and ashpan are unique to the Bushbox. Firebox showed the way but Bushbox found the path. Bushbox Ti is very expensive but it is THAT good I don't regret having paid it.

    • @charlietango186
      @charlietango186 9 лет назад

      Lets just say then, that this design was not Bushboxes, they did have the perfect design and that is why Bushcraft have it, let's just say I know more than I am letting on.
      enjoy your camping
      atb Ray

    • @TheRunereaper
      @TheRunereaper 9 лет назад

      CharlieTango 1 Ray, if you had something to do with designing the Firebox then all I can say is that I waited a long time for the Firebox Ti design to be perfected. It never came. I know that there were a lot of issues with warping and it's something I try to avoid with the Bushbox by not having a raging fire. (The grate on the Bushbox is SS). May I respectfully suggest that any inventor needs to keep his ideas closer to his chest than a straight flush. Loose talk costs millions. I wish you well. Paul.

    • @livingsurvival
      @livingsurvival  9 лет назад

      TheRunereaper CharlieTango 1 Most products are copies of another. This is nothing new. Either way both stoves are great but heavy.

  • @sawdustandsurvival
    @sawdustandsurvival 8 лет назад

    I really like the look of it but I'm thinking it'll be too heavy to be a decent item to take. Do you think it's too heavy?

    • @livingsurvival
      @livingsurvival  8 лет назад +1

      +Average Joe Survival this and the firebox are the heavier of the larger stoves. I recommend the emberlit titanium if you want a larger stove that is super lightweight.

    • @livingsurvival
      @livingsurvival  9 лет назад

      Stephen Tutty The firebox and bushbox xl are very similar, hard to say which is better. I like them both, but also like the solo stove because it is super efficient and the 180 tack stoves because they are more open and support a lot of weight.

  • @MUCH-70
    @MUCH-70 6 лет назад

    How does this compare to the Firebox? I have the Firebox, and almost bought this, but I heard this warps easier than the Firebox. Also the prices are way higher... I got the Firebox from Amazon for 90$ (Canadian). This thing is closer to 120$ ?!?! (Over 150 on Amazon Canada) Seems a bit steep for what I see as an inferior product. But would like to hear your thoughts seeing as how you have both... I do like that Bushbox offers a Ti version though (but it's like 300$!!)

    • @livingsurvival

      39camper Hi there, I can answer that question, they have been copied from the firebox and then he has put is own price on them, and you are paying a lot more for them, why don't you go direct to, www.fireboxstove.com this is the small company that designed them and makes them, talk to Steve, they also make a smaller stove called the Gen2 Nano firebox stove, I have one of these they are brilliant.

    This is the better cooking box, due to being heavy duty, stainless Steel, so don't get a cheaper model, get this X L. and also remember that the put together type, means you must see good enough to put together, even in the dark, plus you can not afford to loose just once side panel of the cheaper type, . so U get what U pay 4, and pay 4 what U get. This is one of the best, . NO doubt.

      Nick Jenks Both great stoves, with pots larger than shown in this video like a frying pan or a dutch oven I would use the 180 Tack since its lower and wider. Both pack about the same but the Bushbox XL is a bit more efficient and can boil water super quick (great for melting snow).

    This stove is nothing more than a German copy of the Firebox stove and it costs more than if you went direct to www.fireboxstove.com as this is the company that designed and make it, why pay more for the same thing??, when you can get it direct.

      CharlieTango 1 I've had the talk with Steve stating they copied the design, however they are not the same design. Similar designs are the nature of the business. Both great stoves and there are better ones out there than both of them.

      The Firebox stove is A-symmetrical, the Bushbox is symmetrical and I find easier to use and aesthetically more pleasing. The Bushbox has a feeding gap for wood better than any other stove of this type. Different stove on the same theme and as you say pretty much a copy......however, although the Firebox may have been first, the Bushbox is a definite improvement! I have both. (I also have a genuine 'wild stoves' woodgas stove which is very hot, but crap, so don't get one of those whoever is reading this!)

      It’s not like firebox came up with it.

      @@livingsurvival do you mind sharing which stoves you think are better than the BBXL and FBG2? I am leaning towards the BBXL Ti but would like to review other stoves you think may be better. Thanks

    I wouldn't have bothered rinsing out the pan before eating out of it, and only half the meat you're taking. Which totally is irrelevant to the stove review ;)

      Disagree. Watching how quickly the stove cooked a pound of meat was impressive. Good vid

      Jan Suchánek This stove is nothing more than a German copy of the Firebox stove and it costs more than if you went direct to www.fireboxstove.com as this is the company that designed and make it, why pay more for the same thing??, when you can get it direct. ( $59.99)

    Your cooking skills leave much to be desired friend.
    Far too much water to cook the noodles. A bit of a waste in a survival and also time conservation factor.
    Also you splatter your food everywhere...
    Then... you heated your sauce, poured it into your meal... then washed out and wiped out the same container you placed the same stuff in... really...
