      Same here 👍.
      With really 'sensitive' undersurfaces, I have put my LF into one half of an Aluminium 'Dixie' Set (British Military Mess Tins for those who don't know) and kept the inside bottom covered in a layer of water. That, on top of said Carbon Cloth (and a cut-to-fit Silicon Mat) have even kept the initially horrified 'Swiss Grannies' satisfied. 'Swiss Grannies' .. one of the best Surveillance Systems out there. They miss nothing and report everything 😊.
      Handy for moving the Cooking Setup around to suit. Works even on Outdoor Wooden Table Tops with absolutely no damage .. leave no trace 😊.

    Does the titanium version has any drwabacks compared to the stainless steel one? (except for the higher price.) Which one has better durability?

  • @54duffield54
    @54duffield54 2 года назад +4

    This is probably the best twig stove on the market, I love mine.
    However I genuinely don't think the titanium version is worth the money.
    My stainless one weighs 765g so for a 265g decrease it's over double the price.
    If you're lucky you can pick up a stainless XL for £65, the cheapest XL titanium one I've seen is £141.
    Great review.

    for bush-craft, or short hikes to camp, those things are fine. stainless or titanium. you can dismiss the weight by including it in your luxury item category.
    that way you don't even need to include it in your carry weight.

  • @ciarancarroll

    Just bought one and I'm a bit confused by one parts of it, if anyone can help please. Where the top grill plate sits in place there are slots going in opposite directions, why is this? I'd imagine that the slotted section is to lock the grill plate in place to prevent it from lifting upwards if food stick to it but the slots are slotted in opposite directions to each other which means you can't slide the plate into the slots. Am I missing something here?

    I have the LF in Stainless some years now .. a great piece of kit. Had there been a choice at the time of my original purchase, I would have 'bitten the bullet' and gone Titanium. However, as a Pensioner .. now not an option.
    Keeping warm .. using an Aluminium Folding Windscreen as a 'back screen' throws an appreciable amount of heat radiation back at one in addition to routing wood smoke up and away.

    Titanium seems pricey for what it does, but you get what you pay for. Ti alloys come in different grades and finished quality. We get used to seeing cheaper 'Titanium' items but forget they cut corners, it's crap material and a false economy. At least these last.

    I just received mine a few hours ago, today, and started the return procedure about 30 mins after unboxing !
    I just can't believe what a piece of junk it is, I'm so disappointed by the quality and design. The stove does not properly fit in the bag or the multi function base without some considerable effort, there are large gaps at the base, on 2 sides, where the stove does not retain its original square shape, its unsteady, and the weight has shocked me totally,
    Its the heaviest Titanium piece of gear I've come across.

    • @meYogii_
      @meYogii_ Год назад

      I recieved mine today, a couple hours ago. I don't agree with your opinion. The two gaps on the base are made to let air inside so the fire can breathe. It fits perfectly in the bag. You didn't even try using it. I've read and seen a lot of revievs and almost everyone are happy with it. The only person that was a bit disappointed had the steel version and said it bends a little on the front side bc of the heat. Over all he was happy about the function.
      The weight isn't a problem, it's very light when u compare it to similar stoves in other materials. It doesn't take much space. It's very easy to use and u can use it with wood or a trangia burner. I really like it.

    • @Chris66able
      @Chris66able Год назад

      @@meYogii_ If the gaps on the base are so it can breathe then why are they only there when you hold it , or if you don't make sure its perfectly square, it has also mean mentioned by others the stability, it does not fit in the bag perfectly with the multi function lid attached, it is famous even amongst its fans as quite heavy, you can use the vast majority of twig stove with other forms of fuel, and no you do NOT try something if you are going to return it ! Brains...
