  • We talk about testing and diagnosing a start stop switch. In this video we do a Kawasaki and a Super Jet switch but all PWC ones are pretty much the same.

Awesome advice and good idea on leaving the lanyard on. Especially in those cold northern states

I actually was able to recreate the Kawasaki rubber by 3d printing it with flexible filament and its been working great!

Thank you! Good to know how to put it back together when it explodes after taking it apart :D

Oddly enough, I’ve only ever had an issue with a Yamaha switch.
Thanks for the video and I wish I saw this before I had to replace the switch.

Knock on wood -- I've never hard start/stop switch issues, and all my old Kawasakis ('95 750sxi, '87 650sx) are still on their original switches that have likely never been opened. So in essence, I'm well overdue for a switch issue.

This is a great tech tip! I will admit I once overlooked a stuck Yamaha lanyard switch, and replaced a stator.🤦 I now store with with lanyards on.

John - can you share where you can get replacement rubber switch covers for a Kawi from?

Sorry, I do not have a source for new. We hoard old switches here to use for parts to service skis here in the shop.

On my Superjet i would hit a wave and the engine would die. I replceced the switch assembly and it solved the problem, what is the failure in my switch that would have caused it? Never knew you could take them apart to clean them Thanks...

Thanks for watching. Hard for me to know what problem you had. Maybe a bad / pinched wire in the harness...
