ATTENTION TO ALL: As it's been a month since I've uploaded this video. I just thought I'll pin this comment because a lot of people have been mentioning in the comments that the game doesn't work for them, they're giving up .etc Here are some important points to follow: 1) Make sure you are on PS3 firmware 4.90 on the official latest build of RPCS3. The patches will not work on any other firmware version. 2) Update the game from version 1.00 to 2.00, only then you'll see the patches appear in the Manage Game Patches menu. 3) Make sure you have the US version of the game & not the EU version. The US version is BLUS30109. It's the most optimized to run on most RPCS3 builds (including the official one) & contains a lot more patches. 4) Make sure you own a full copy of the game without any incomplete data files. I don't care from where you get it, either legally or illegally, it's none of my business & I do not care to elaborate on how & where to get it on my channel. 5) Last but most important, watch the full video before commenting. If all else fails in this video, then I suggest watching my older video where I will show you how you can play MGS4 on the Illusion build of RPCS3. It contains similar steps to this ones shown in this video but it's a last-resort solution if nothing for you works on this video. I've already mentioned the Illusion build guide video in the description of this video but again here's the link: ruclips.net/video/g5HdqeLZBCg/видео.html It's a few months old but it's a guaranteed way to run the game with the only exceptions being that you have to configure the settings manually. Regardless, a lot of patience & research from you is very important. Trying to configure an emulator can take days. I hope you understand. I have one question about the patches. When It asks to update them it gets rid of the ones you recommend to check. is it auto applied now or should I not update them?

Edit: make the game run bad fixed the issue Having issue with metal gear rex tunnel scene, basically I get drained of health the point where it is impossible, and the robot enemy things cant be killed, people said to download older version but the game won't boot on older versions, it says the mgs4 self file is invaild, any clue how to fix, do you know any cheats to get infinite health or just how to fix it?

Also, try to play the US version on the Illusion build of RPCS3. I just finished the game (albeit with some crashes here and there) on it. @@Anderson-Gaming Does your MGS4 never crashes anymore, 100%? The game still crashes sometimes, but it seems to have solved a problem where Snake would randomly become completely invisible. Also in the first cutscenes Snake's face texture and bandana were having a seizure/flickering bizarrely. Does this also happen to you? Thanks again man, you've been a great help and deverse my follow
I played on the Illusion build (my 1st ever playthrough of MGS4) & had to experience a crash every 1 hour or so. Not much that you can do. It's how this game runs on RPCS3, sadly. @@Anderson-GamingMy game totally stopped crashing until I arrived in Shadow Moses. Every time I pass through the opened gate in Shadow Moses the game crashes. Did this ever happen to you? Edit: I read that a solution for this would be playing in Windowed mode and it worked for me.

@@DarkmoonWinter Yes I use a SATA SSD to make the game load faster but shader & PPU compilation will still take time, however. That depends on your CPU.

I didn't make it load so fast. I've already compiled all the shaders & modules after my initial start-up of the game hence it boots very quickly. Also, I have the game installed on a SATA 2.5 inch SSD. The initial start-up can take anywhere from 2 hours or more depending on your hardware & how good your copy of the game is.
Hi bro, I've had an issue with MGS4 on RPCS3 for the past couple of months, since I first tried playing the game on RPCS3 last year sometime during the summer. So basically the game runs fine, but I haven't gotten to far in the game because I wanted to fix this glitch that I encountered, basically in ACT 1, right after you meet Meryl and some other characters, you have to escape from a building while shooting some robots/cyborgs/whatever, and everything is normal until the characters that are with Meryl go invisible, and you can only see their weapons, Meryl doesn't go invisible, but the other characters go invisible. I stopped playing the game then, because I never found a fix, this was on the Master build by the way. I did try using the illusion and MGS4 builds and this didn't happen on one of those builds (or both of them, I don't remember) but performance was worse, that's why I'm asking if by any chance they've fixed this in the Master build?
I'm sure they must have. I've faced a similar issue on the Illusion build but when I have to escape the restaurant with Meryl and her team, the game would crash for me. I didn't get those invisible models. You'll only know if you try playing the game again but I'd suggest having both the official & Illusion builds of RPCS3 & use only one install of the game to see which one would be stable for you. It's time consuming; that's the only minus. I did finish the whole game on the Illusion build so I guess you can try playing the game on that.
Thanks for the video ! I followed it carefully, got the intallation while Old Snake is smoking but then I have an error : "Error during trophy registration! The will now be terminated". And the game exits. I can't get past this, do you have any idea what I could do ?
I'm sure this is an unrelated issue but try turning off trophy pop-ups by doing this. In RPCS3, Go to Config > Emulator > Emulator Settings and there should be a tick option to turn the trophy pop ups off. Even after doing this, if the game doesn't launch, let me know here. I have a feeling you have an incomplete copy of the game.

Hmmm thanks for the guide. I have a problem though in the beginning of Act 2. After clearing the little start village after the long cutscenes and I start moving towards east afterwards, the game starts to bug out. Snake becomes invisible but his weapons and enemy AI breaks, enemies all look up into the sky and it triggers combat Mode and music. Im using the anniversary Version which is already game Version 2.0. Can anyone confirm this happening? Maybe you actually need to set some custom rpcs3 Options after all?
I think you must try to play the game on the Illusion RPCS3 build. I didn't have that issue you are mentioning. I have successfully finished the game on the Illusion build of RPCS3.
when I plug in any controller, it only recognizes controller 2. Xinput#1, #3 and #4 disconnected) when I load up the game, I can press the X button and start button, but in the menu, none of the buttons work.
@@Anderson-Gaming In my case, the Blu ray drive I used didn't extract enough data from a demo file. So, I tried a more expensive driver and got a US copy of the game and it worked. My other driver worked with all other games except mgs4 haha
this video really helped!! after i went to sleep so i could let the shaders and caches compile, booting it up took no time at all, and performance was relatively stable! it only froze on me twice, once during a menu loading screen, another during the intro cutscene when the militia truck stops. i’ll try playing a bit more later today just to see if i can get past the intro, i’m pretty patient and confident the performance will get better. thanks again!!
@@Anderson-Gaming my CPU is a Intel Core i5 12400F, my GPU is an AMD XFX RX 6650 XT , i have 4 sticks of Corsair Vengeance DDR4 8GB RAM @ 3600MHz, totaling at 32GB of RAM, and i ran the game off of my 2TB Samsung 980 SSD (i think, i don't really remember 😅). hopefully this information is enough! and you're welcome for the comment!

Hey! When the first cutscene of Snake starts (right after the commercials), a disc-question mark icon appears. I'm guessing this is for a dirty disc or removed disc, but this is running on an emulator... how do I fix this? Thanks in advance!
I followed this guide step for steps but I have no option for "all versions" under manage game patches only the 1.0 and 2.0 dropdown menu and on that menu there is also no "crash fix" option for me to select but the other options like "unlock fps" are all there.. I'm getting crashes every 6-9 minutes.. not sure if anyone knows a workaround? edit: and yes I'm on firmware 4.90
If you are on firmware 4.90 and you don't see the patches that otherwise should appear normally for you, it must mean you are using the EU version of the game. @@Anderson-Gaming Its 100% the USA version of the game, I have tried the version that's dated year "2019" I'm not sure if that's the right one but the serial numberr and version 2.0 matches up "ingame 2019-08-13" to be exact 26.66gb

@@Anderson-Gaming Thanks, and I have just tried for the sake of it the same process on the illusion build and with that version, I cant even install any patches without getting an error message and ofc the same crashes in game on that build (in even less time). at least with main RPCS3 I can at least get to the patch menu! specs: RX 6950 XT, 5800X3D, 32GB Ram (tried it on 2 separate SSD's)
the game runs well, but around 10 minutes into the game it suddenly freezes with rpcs3 displaying a "Access violation reading location 0x42a88a80 (unmapped memory)" error message.

@hiimflumpy3873 You don't have to follow my description. I just put it there because another commenter asked me for my Patches folder. But if that's the method you want to use, you can drag and drop it into your "patches" folder. See if that works. But for the most part, the patches will appear automatically in the game. Just check the "Manage Game Patches" menu after right-clicking on the game in the Game List screen. I just checked my official RPCS3 with the latest update from today & the game plus the patches for 2.00 appear & work just fine.
Hey @andersongaming i'm not sure if you can help me or not. I could quite possibly be having the absolute worst luck trying to not get this game to freeze on me. First I attempted your illusionary build with both the BLES00246, and BLUS30109 games. I followed your first video as precisely as I could following every instruction. From updating the games with rusty-psn, installing the patches you provided, keeping the configurations just like in both your video the whole nine yards. The game no matter what freezes on me not even 5 mins into each session cutscene or playing as snake. I then opted to followed your new build in this video with the more up to date version of RPCS3 (0.0.31) with both the BLES00246, and BLUS30109 games. I made all settings default only changing the resolution scale. Again nothing I still get the game freezing on me during the intro cutscene or just when the geckos appear and I'm in the building running up the stairs. I even experimented with your global settings from your illusionary build and threw them into the master build just to see what would happen. Do you have any possible idea what possible other variable is going on preventing me from playing just like you do in the video. I don't care if the game crashes once for every three hours. But not every five minutes this is unbearable. My setup is as follows GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 1660 Ti , CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 3800x 8 Core Processor, 16 threads overclocked to 4.1ghz

Even still 1-5 mins into the game, it crashes completely. Do you have any possible idea what other variable that could be outstanding that could be causing this consistent quick crash?
Actually any recommendations for getting past the ads screen? It will just stay stuck on the ads that boot up before the main game. I've tried your settings and messing around with a few other things and no go. Have a 4090/13900KS

The patches have to appear because I showed in the video a new RPCS3 install and when I updated the game, the patches appeared automatically for me.

Depends on your CPU & GPU combo. Make sure you are on firmware 4.90 & on the US version.

4.91 will not work with the game. GPU doesn't matter as this is RPCS3, you need a high-end CPU.

I use a 3080 Ti and a 5950X. With even a PCIe 3 SSD, loading a new map takes about 60-90 seconds. That should give you an idea.

when I plug in any controller, it only recognizes controller 2. Xinput#1, #3 and #4 disconnected) when I load up the game, I can press the X button and start button, but in the menu, none of the buttons work.

@@Anderson-Gaming In my case, the Blu ray drive I used didn't extract enough data from a demo file. So, I tried a more expensive driver and got a US copy of the game and it worked. My other driver worked with all other games except mgs4 haha
So the game works & launches into the main menu but the controls don't work from then on?

this video really helped!! after i went to sleep so i could let the shaders and caches compile, booting it up took no time at all, and performance was relatively stable! it only froze on me twice, once during a menu loading screen, another during the intro cutscene when the militia truck stops. i’ll try playing a bit more later today just to see if i can get past the intro, i’m pretty patient and confident the performance will get better. thanks again!!

@@Anderson-Gaming my CPU is a Intel Core i5 12400F, my GPU is an AMD XFX RX 6650 XT , i have 4 sticks of Corsair Vengeance DDR4 8GB RAM @ 3600MHz, totaling at 32GB of RAM, and i ran the game off of my 2TB Samsung 980 SSD (i think, i don't really remember 😅). hopefully this information is enough! and you're welcome for the comment!

Hey! When the first cutscene of Snake starts (right after the commercials), a disc-question mark icon appears. I'm guessing this is for a dirty disc or removed disc, but this is running on an emulator... how do I fix this? Thanks in advance!
You have incomplete game files. Make sure to get a full complete copy of the game (US version at that).
I followed this guide step for steps but I have no option for "all versions" under manage game patches only the 1.0 and 2.0 dropdown menu and on that menu there is also no "crash fix" option for me to select but the other options like "unlock fps" are all there.. I'm getting crashes every 6-9 minutes.. not sure if anyone knows a workaround?
edit: and yes I'm on firmware 4.90
If you are on firmware 4.90 and you don't see the patches that otherwise should appear normally for you, it must mean you are using the EU version of the game. @@Anderson-Gaming Its 100% the USA version of the game, I have tried the version that's dated year "2019" I'm not sure if that's the right one but the serial numberr and version 2.0 matches up "ingame 2019-08-13" to be exact 26.66gb

@@Anderson-Gaming Thanks, and I have just tried for the sake of it the same process on the illusion build and with that version, I cant even install any patches without getting an error message and ofc the same crashes in game on that build (in even less time). at least with main RPCS3 I can at least get to the patch menu!
specs: RX 6950 XT, 5800X3D, 32GB Ram (tried it on 2 separate SSD's)
the game runs well, but around 10 minutes into the game it suddenly freezes with rpcs3 displaying a "Access violation reading location 0x42a88a80 (unmapped memory)" error message.

@hiimflumpy3873 You don't have to follow my description. I just put it there because another commenter asked me for my Patches folder. But if that's the method you want to use, you can drag and drop it into your "patches" folder. See if that works. But for the most part, the patches will appear automatically in the game. Just check the "Manage Game Patches" menu after right-clicking on the game in the Game List screen. I just checked my official RPCS3 with the latest update from today & the game plus the patches for 2.00 appear & work just fine.

@@Anderson-Gaming the rpcs3 wiki for mgs4 says it works from 4.87 to 4.91 firmware's.
When I made this video, firmware 4.91 didn't exist back then.

Hey @andersongaming i'm not sure if you can help me or not.
I could quite possibly be having the absolute worst luck trying to not get this game to freeze on me. First I attempted your illusionary build with both the BLES00246, and BLUS30109 games. I followed your first video as precisely as I could following every instruction. From updating the games with rusty-psn, installing the patches you provided, keeping the configurations just like in both your video the whole nine yards. The game no matter what freezes on me not even 5 mins into each session cutscene or playing as snake. I then opted to followed your new build in this video with the more up to date version of RPCS3 (0.0.31) with both the BLES00246, and BLUS30109 games. I made all settings default only changing the resolution scale. Again nothing I still get the game freezing on me during the intro cutscene or just when the geckos appear and I'm in the building running up the stairs. I even experimented with your global settings from your illusionary build and threw them into the master build just to see what would happen. Do you have any possible idea what possible other variable is going on preventing me from playing just like you do in the video. I don't care if the game crashes once for every three hours. But not every five minutes this is unbearable.
My setup is as follows GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 1660 Ti , CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 3800x 8 Core Processor, 16 threads overclocked to 4.1ghz
Yes but this video is the official build. Did you try using the global settings on the official version? Your specs are not so bad.

Even still 1-5 mins into the game, it crashes completely. Do you have any possible idea what other variable that could be outstanding that could be causing this consistent quick crash?

Actually any recommendations for getting past the ads screen? It will just stay stuck on the ads that boot up before the main game. I've tried your settings and messing around with a few other things and no go. Have a 4090/13900KS
Just stay on any 1 channel for more than 5 minutes. The game will start as normal
