    Love my trench coat right from autumn to spring! I have a knee-length double-breasted coat in beige, and a shorter single-Brasted coat in navy.
    I tend to wear the longer coat fully buttoned in the rain, and the shorter coat over knitted jumpers tied with the belt but unbuttoned for an effortless casual look. It goes fantastically over a grey sweater with navy jeans and brown derby's or chukka boots.

    historically speaking. Epaulets are found on most military jackets because one of their functions is you can drag a soldier by them if they are wounded. Additionally this is why they are affixed to the jacket in a very reinforced way to withstand this type of tension.

    I've been going for the insulated down vest and cardigans all spring so far. I have also been wearing a tan-leather blazer I bought last year. The reason I don't wear that one all the time is the company decided to personally tailor it to me like you would a suit, and then I put on fifteen pounds of muscle so I can't fit layers into it and can barely bend my arms.
    Though, one style I like but is really hard to find is the tan-hunter-leather jacket. It's one I've seen (for 700$) and it's a leather jacket tailored like a blazer it has two pockets on the upper chest, two pockets on the bottom around the hips and sometimes a built-in belt; and it cuts off just about the mid crotch area and high collar. I always thought that was fabulous. That's the type of jacket that would be perfect for charcoal button-up shirt, black tie, black or black and tan combination dress boots and designer black jeans.

    In Georgia the temp goes from thick sweater weather in the morning as the sun rises to light hoody or thick long sleeve shirt at mid day to evening and later in the night you'll need a coat because the temp drops so I've gotten into layering for comfort and my style have shifted that for dressing the winter here and I pretty much don't have any heavy coats any more because I get options I can layer. So like sport wear a long sleeve dry shirt, a thing fleece shirt or zip up, another fleece vest sometimes, a down jacket and then a rain coat on top (we get random rain that's warm coming down and cold after it's done. So layering isn't just for warmth but versatility layers I can take of or mix to certain temps and conditions when you're day goes from 38° to 68° you can't wear the same thing unless you like punishment of some kind and I like the layers because it's easy to carry a down jacket and rain coat with me and throw them on when I need it.

    Great video, as always. On a personal note: I own a brown bomber leather jacket that I bought some 30 years ago. I still wear it and I love it. In my opinion, brown is the way to go with leather. I don't particularly like black leather jacket. For me, it is associated with criminal motor gangs, which I despise. Brown leather on the other hand reminds me of the heroes of WWII and even WWI.

    Great vid, Antonio, but I wish it was published two weeks ago when I went spring jacket shopping. Regardless, I did pretty well and ended up with a navy blue, unlined, Harrington-style jacket (living in San Antonio, TX, so a lighter jacket is preferred). Thanks to your video, I now want a few more jackets to round out the spring 'drobe.

    Thanks Antonio for today's video. I think you pretty much cover all lightweight jackets.
    In addition I have a question; I saw i great "Leather" jacket once and it fits so well but I noticed that it wasn't made from real leather (It was 48% polyester, 2% cotton and 50% of other synthetic material). So I am asking, What is better? A bad quality leather jacket or a synthetic jacket like the one I am describing since is what can I afford?

    Not gonna buy 20 spring jackets... >_>

    • @kathwheeling
      @kathwheeling 5 лет назад +3

      you will over time. choose a basic all around jacket this year. in a couple of years, you can buy more specialized ones. you don't buy a full wardrobe every year. you build your wardrobe over time with classic pieces that will last long term.

    • @jarofthoughts
      @jarofthoughts 5 лет назад

      @@kathwheeling Sure, and of course I own several jackets. I'm not "wardrobe-less". A couple of the types even came up in this video. I'm just questioning the claim that I should own 20! different spring jackets. Seems a bit excessive. ;)

    • @kathwheeling
      @kathwheeling 5 лет назад +2

      @@jarofthoughts I think it more depends on how many different activities in which you indulge. Of course, our host MUST own them all or I would question the ability to evaluate them all. but the average man would not be in need of them all because he probably doesn't not participate in EVERY activity. some of these jackets are tailored to a particular sport/profession even region. for instance, every man needs a rain coat. one fo the first pieces my husband purchased. a nice, London Fog Trench Coat. he has owned it for 35 years and it is still one of his main pieces. We live in the Deep South so a Navy wool overcoat is not something he would EVER wear, even on the coldest day we have here. He does, however, own a classic Pea Coat because we DO get occasional cold days (we can get as cold as 30 degrees occasionally in the dead of winter!). several of the jackets in this collection are the kind you'd wear for biking or running
      He doesn't ride motorcycles, so the Racer jacket, Motorcycle and Denim coat are not part of his collection (though the Denim was in the younger days. I make his sweaters and he prefers pull overs so the sweater jackets aren't in the collection. personally I do not like suede jackets. to me, they are FAR to late 60's early 70's but, I suppose it may be time for them to come back for the younger set.
      I think the primary thing to remember is the same thing one would remember in ANY Men's clothing purchase. Style never goes out of fashion. You can pick up some inexpensive jackets in the latest fashion but real style only needs to be added once. Buy quality and real style and you'll keep ti forever. we've been married 30 years. the truly good pieces will still be there when you've reached our age.

      OK, how about 19?

    • @uropy
      @uropy 3 года назад +1

      I agree. No need for 20. If you have 20, chances are many of them are superfluous and you are better off with fewer but higher quality pieces. One can argue a nice blazer and a nice overcoat (or a down-coat) is enough for a man.

    Love the trucker jacket but not in denim. Suede or a nice corduroy would do excellently; even fabrics and patterns associated with sport coats look great. I have a flight jacket in grey and black herringbone that looks great with everything underneath. Looking to pick one up in a nice dark brown suede. Then there's the field jacket. Spier and Mackay make a lovely design for the price and I am partial to the knit variety for casual elegance. Not overly casual but not sport coat territory is where I live on the formality scale for now.

    1) I like the olive suede, brown coach leather jackets, the tank jacket (Harrington too, without the tartan and the flap on the back), the blue sports coat and the navy peacoat shown here. Not a fan of the remaining jackets, esp windbreakers, puff roll/quilted jackets. And I think sherpa would look nicer without a contrasting colour.
    2) the dark brown leather is commonly known as the biker jacket while the coach one that Aaron gave you and I absolutely love, is the racer style. Not sure how the naming came about but that's what they are referred to. And contrary to what you said, I think the coach leather jacket stands out among the 3 because of it's construction and more eye-catching colour.
    Cheers Antonio!

    I’ve seen your “wearing gray with style “
    And I need some advice from you . I’m going for a date and I’m wearing black t-shirt with charcoal gray blazer on my upper but with my lower should I wear a black or charcoal gray trousers? The charcoal gray trousers is not the same fabric with blazer but the color is close

    Excellent video.
    As an English person, I should mention that he is correct that the field jacket he showed is what the aristocracy and even the Queen herself wears when at one of her country estates. However, I wouldn't call it formal as they would never wear it with smart clothes or in the city. They might wear it over tweed when shooting in the country.
    A gentleman would probably wear a light trench coat over a suit in the spring, like a raincoat.

    Great video! I’ve been shopping for a spring jacket. Question: I picked up a nice solid black Denim jacket last fall. Ive been wearing it lately, because I barely got to wear it before winter showed up early. Someone told me that it’s a fall jacket, and it’s too dark for spring. Any truth to that? (Personally, I’ll still wear it, because I think it looks good)

      Hi Russ. This time of year I'd say blue is a better color choice for denim jackets.

    What's your opinion on wearing a bomber jacket with a button up shirt. I see a lot of people wear them with tee shirts and I was wondering if it would be ok to wear one with a button up.

    Antonio Antonio Antonio.. First of all.. Semper Fi ✅💯👊🏾
    Now.. I've been watching and following your advice along with Rafael and Aaron.. The algorithm sends me more of your videos than Aaron.. And I get the least from the gentlemen's gazette.. I also watch the fashion OG.. So anyway, you guys give alot of the same advice which is cool.. Now in the metamorphosis that my wardrobe has become, I'm noticing a trend.. It's mostly blue, white and Grey combinations.. Starting to remind me of that football team in Dallas 🚮 My question is.. How do I break away from that while remaining more formal on the scale..??. When I dress casually, I still like the urban ware and I'm trying to level up the formal/semi formal look...I'm looking to add some new different colors and I do value your advice. Thanks!
    BTW.. The field jackets I remember had a hood zipped into the neck (collar).. I was a 3043.. I counted many, many, many field jackets.. Thanks.. Keep up the good work! ✌🏿

      Kev you've made my day with your kind words. I'm so glad you like the work my colleagues and I do. What I do to break away from blue and gray is add green whenever I can. Olive green is one of my favorite colors to wear, especially for jackets and suits, and it looks good on a lot of men. Add some green to your wardrobe and let me know how it works out!

      I can’t grow a full beard because it’s rather patchy. But I can grow a goatee and mustache. In what I looked up, there are a lot of different combinations I can choose from. There’s also sideburns to consider... I could stand alone in this question, but just curious. Nonetheless, keep making videos!
