So Forever Winter went into EA probably a year before it couldve been considered for EA. Players were pressurising the devs to release the game in its current state despite the Devs saying its not ready. The players got what they wanted and videos like this are currently doing the game a disservice without making that disclosure. I definitely think the game has been released way too early and more time in the oven wouldve done a lot for its public first impression. But damn, dying on the tutorial oof thats rough.
Yeah I agree with you there, the game needs a lot of work enemy AI patching is wonky they even run past me then turn around stare me down run away and backtrack leaving me all confused.
I just think people don’t actually understand the game, like sure there’s bugs like hunter killers being triggered far too easily but 7-8k players daily is hardly unplayable like I see a lot of people saying the game is, so obviously the game isn’t nearly as bad as any of these kind of videos make it sound
hey man - thanks for stopping by - yeah, this was very personal, didn't work for me - but i know there's a huge following for the survival genre out there and i hope they really enjoy the game - i just don't have the time to invest on it
Hi, I just wanted to say I agreed with so many of your comments and reasoning, I was surprised! It is the type of game that should introduce it’s elements slowly, so that you can learn them over time and the lessons reinforced before moving on. I also found that some of the enemies looked like fellow Scavengers, and so I approached them peacefully… leading to an avoidable gunfight! But definitely… that US$27 price tag is too high for an alpha release game. Especially if it is just going into maps/levels and not truly an Adventure - RPG. $10-15 is more reasonable at this point. I might have kept it on the backburner if it were priced at that level, just as you said. The real time, offline decay of the water resource will be offputting to many gamers as well, as it introduces unnecessary stress.
1:45 See that bit right there? That’s why I requested a refund. Why is Epic Game Store involved?? There’s no mention of it before buying, and no option to say “no, you don’t touch my PC”. I don’t care about crossplay. That should never have been there, at least without an option to completely ban EGS.
hey man - thanks for stopping by - you're 100% right, those were 2x things i left out of my thoughts - the epic store involvement and i didn't get a chance to check what exactly permissions they were going for when accessing pc files - but you are on the mark ma dude : it just didn't sit right for some reason. ..
Going in blind isn't always the best approach. Sometimes it helps to have proper expectations for the kind of experience the developers are trying to create. Maybe look into the game some more and try the demo when it drops in October.
While yes the game is very rough. Sounds like most of your issues were self inflicted. They only released it in this early of a state because so many people were asking for it. Give it a year and try again.
yeah - i didn't quite vibe with the style, potato pc, etc. - maybe sometime in the future with an updated machine and with a bunch of friends i'll have a better experience
Ah, a game built around a theme and story? A game with a gameplay idea? Nah lets just ignore everything and complain that i dont like it. The devs stated they didnt want to release this game yet, but they did for the game. Its in a rough state, i will admit. But they stated it before hand. Glad you refunded it if it wasnt for you, but dont bash a game you didnt even give a real shot to understand. This is just doing the game, the devs, and the community a diservice.
This is fine. I'm glad he tried it out and shared his thoughts. If EA doesn't jive, just return and move on to something else. Not like he lambasted the game. GLHF with the next one
The game's loop seems fundamentally boring and unengaging. If they're going for stealth-first, why does stealth seem so unreliable. If you're expected (and teh game's central loop is designed around) to never shoot at enemies, to run away, then what's the point of having so many weapons and attachments. Call me old-fashioned, but standing behind a rock waiting for patrol spawns to cycle through a route and watching enemeis have le epic shootout is beyond unappealing (imagine having literally less fun than an NPC lmao). Especially when the game has broken designs where you engage an exfil and it thinks now is the perfect time to spawn enemy patrols (as if that makes sense, why punish me for firing a shot only to undo all my stealth efforts at the last moment with a firefight I can't win). Massive 'skip' energy. No thanks. Tarkov and Hunt Showdown already exist.
I think you can shoot, but you basically have to "get gud." Not saying I endorse that message, but from watching the videos and etc. There is an option to shoot and kill, but you have to weigh the pros and cons which is kinda what the game is about. Do you open fire and get the chance to look valuables or risk losing your cover? That being said, I believe this game is definitely more fun if you have a group to play with than doing it solo. I can imagine the toxicity when trying to do this PvE environment with intense players.
its for self defence whats so hard to understand, you are a literal scav in the middle of war. You even have timed extraction points and enemies come in randomized out of knowhere so expect the unexpected. Its not a pvp game like tarkov or hunt bro bro
exactly this.. the thing I hate the most "Lets Spawn enemies right under his feet, for excitement" No.. if I stealthed all the way through.. don't punish me with an arbitrary difficulty spike. The game has Potential, just... it feels like the the bones of a Mobile Game Mechanic made it into the game
@@FryCook87 i kno rite 🤣people and the internet do be like that - i just take it as banter ( unless offensive ) life's too short to be taking oneself too seriously - what's your thoughts on the game ?
Well, you were in a gunfight with ~20fps. What did you expect?

nice review, honest and personal to your tastes rather than trying review for everyone, hope this format resonates with more ppl over time.

The recommended system requirements is CRAZY, i love this game, still playing it, but i don't really understand why it need so much "power" to run.
