Navy ODS - Week 1 Recap (Making Mistakes, Keeping a Clean Rack, and Remaining Calm)

- The first week at Navy ODS was all about making mistakes, keeping calm, and working as a team. I have been a college professor since 2005 (starting my career at Sam Houston State University) and I had to transition from an environment where you succeed alone (a university) to an environment where you succeed as a team (the military).
When I finished ODS and transitioned back to campus, I realized it was a harder transition than I anticipated. I was focused on the success of the team instead of individual faculty members, but that is another video...
Enjoy Week One!
Please let me know if you have any questions. I am happy to help!

I will be going later this year trying to be as prepared as possible.
@@MrRoadchaser Congratulations! Let me know if you have any questions. Excited for you!
@drjtedwards Excited to go! I'm just going to miss the family while I'm away.
What? The navy added planks? I'm glad i found your channel.
@@PusangGala817 Yes! They did! No sit ups, the planks replaced them. I began training with sit-ups, but this was a welcome addition. :)
Keep grinding!!
@@teneightsheepdog6406 Thank you!!!
Hello Dr. Edwards, I salute you with very proud eyes for your outstanding work and performance you did in ODS! Also, it is very much appreciated your insight regarding this important life changing military training. I am about to go on May 4th. I am a nurse and I will be joining the US Navy.
I would like to know if you still happen to have that laminated paper you created with all the important knowledge to memorize? I'd truly appreciate if you could please share with me.
⚓️@@JohanaPerezPereira Thank you for bearing with me, I just completed public affairs school. How was your ODS session? Was anything different? So excited for you, shipmate! ⚓️
If you need a husband, I'm right here! haha.
Good job sista! You did so well.
Give me your tips for planks
@@catcat3608 Sure! The planks have been great. To prepare for ODS, I did planks every day and I added on a few additional seconds every day. Plus, I connect my workout (especially those exercises I do not like to do) to my “why”. My “why” is my family. I have a BIG family (over 34 first cousins on my mom and dad’s side) and I try to name all of them (plus my aunts and uncles). Connect your workout to your why! :) 🏋🏾♂️🏃🏾♂️
How was pt?
@@catcat3608 Hey! PT was GREAT! It was held early in the morning before breakfast and I have never been an early morning workout person, but it was just what I needed! 🏃🏾♂️🏃🏾♂️
Was life hard there being gluten free? Hooyah shipmate!
@@bmoney2953 My husband laughed at me, but I arrived back home addicted to sunflower seeds (protein), Silk Soymilk, and mushrooms. Plus, the salad bar was amazing! Also, we gained access to the commissary on base during the first weekend and I bought protein bars. ;) 🛒
