- I flew halfway around the world to go to the Japanese Grand Prix in Suzuka because I am so totally normal about F1. Let's talk Suzuka Circuit, Champions Club passes, seeing drivers, and sweet, sweet dango.

Honestly, I don't care about racing. I do love to listen to Amanda nerd out about things she is so very clearly passionate about. I am glad you and your friend had fun in Japan!
I didn’t until I listened to her nerd out about it! Now I’m in deep!
@@DrDinoNuggies I admit, its super fun to listen to her nerd out. I am legally bind, so watching racing sounds like a miss use of my time. Only because I know my brain would not be able to process any of what little i was seeing.
I did tell my car obsessed cousin about formula 1 though. He sounded very thrilled. I did not mention that Amanda got to be in a McClairin though. He would have been super jealous.
Same. I have never seen anything to do with racing outside of Amanda's videos and I'm not interested in going out and learning more either, because what she shows is 100x more interesting than what I could go and find on my own lol.
I'm very gratified to learn that along with me, the majority of Amanda's viewers don't know anything about what she's talking about in each video, but watch anyway. It's fun to learn about other peoples fandoms and interests!
@@aksez2u Honestly, a lot of things Amanda does videos on I have never heard of. Its always so fun to learn about these new things. Especially the Mothman video. God, that was great! Amanda was so freaking hyped in that one.
I love how passionate swell gets talking about F1, especially when she's complaining about the terrible commentary in Vegas 😂.
I feel like they could have mentioned the sphere more 🙄
I cannot cope with the Japanese fans, their adorable hats, costumes, and aggressively polite shows of support. So overwhelming wholesome.
You should give William a raise - he did a great job changing the light in a way that looks very natural
Ohh will you be contributing towards that raise?
Honestly probably still the second most affordable way to watch F1 outside of pulling up to Monaco in a lawn chair on a hill. This is barely a joke by the way
Sochi used to be the most affordable GP weekend, but now its Hungary.
@@mmonkeyman1403 thanks for that heads up I'm trying to go to a Grand Prix in the next 2 years just I need to get my money up or just use connections in Miami but I think we all know that would be pointless
@@kerbyd2909 If you're stateside, Austin is the most affordable to attend, but Las Vegas will almost certainly have a lot of deals as well.
I remember when Ted Kravitz and Natalie Pinkham did Millionaires vs Low Budget Monaco and Ted's seat was literally a Deck Chair on the Hill :P
"You can't make me dislike Max, we're the same person in two different fonts" is an amazing admission and I am proud of you for your bravery in saying something so controversial :'D
Worth it for the Yuki bear.
so true
I couldn't possibly care less about F1 or any kind of car racing, but there's just something so fun about watching someone you like talk passionately about something they very clearly love. Both irl and online
Being a theme park fan and an F1 fan, this track/theme park combo is a dream destination. You're able to drive f1 GO KARTS on the actual track when there isn't a race going on. The view from the ferris wheel is amazing. They have a roller coaster that looks and feels like you're riding a motorcycle. Just, literal dream destination.
I’m so glad that Amanda explained everything about F1 like I’m stupid because I am
Amanda, Monaco could be a clever move next June because you've got the Cannes Film Festival happening at the same time. Now granted... Hollywood is a throwing stone away from where you live but it's a nice atmosphere in a nice place as well. Close to Italy. Fly to Nice [Niece] Airport.
Ooh, maybe she could do Monaco-Canada back to back, considering they've unveiled the 2025 calendar now.
Nahhhh the Monaco Yacht show. She should do that too.
I would honestly listen to an F1 podcast that was hosted by you. I've always been really intimidated by F1 fans as a women, but you make the sport seem really welcoming.
Same! I am a new fan brought in by *gasp* Drive to Survive and the F1 subreddit is really unwelcoming
honestly I'm exited to see amanda in spa, love hearing about the rest of the F1 story that isn't just drivers and the race. like this is an amazing version of seeing the experience
Give William a raise please! He did very well on the yellow! (totally didn't change!)
Swell, we love when you’re passionate about a video topic! Glad you got to go and share it with us! How cool to go to Japan🙌
I love when creators express interests or make videos on topics that their audience may not jive with. It just shows that they are an individual with their own lives and are free to grow
waiting for the year swell goes insane and goes to every GP
I hope you know that your passion and description of drive to survive got me to binge the whole series in a week and for the past year and a half have been converted to an F1 superfan, much to my boyfriend's amusement. So thank you for doing this so I can live through you.
Honestly, with the way you talk about F1, I could definitely see you having a career in commentating or being on the media team for one of the teams. I don't know how media works regarding F1 since I am a pretty strict Baseball and Hockey girly but with your passion for the sport and desire to be near the cars, I think it would be super cool for you to do!
The only people that would use "Honda Driver" as some sort of insult are those that have absolutely no idea about the legacy of Honda in F1.
You saw Yuki jump the gate with your own eyes, was definitely worth it.
Suzuka is one of the greatest circuits in racing, Spoon into 130R is such a legendary corner combination in racing
1:49 omg William did such a good job color-correcting all the yellow for the whole entire whole video he should get a raise definitely
Not sure if this is still the case, but I remember a few years back them talking about how the Japanese Grand Prix has less security and barriers because the people are generally more respectful of boundaries. There was a picture of people just standing at the yellow line in the pit lane where a barrier would normally be.
its literally a bucket list item for me from since i was a kid to see the Japanese gp, to me its one of the last remaining proper tracks. so happy swell got to live that dream
Another international race that would be great to attend is the British Grand Prix and if you could get a chance being over there tours of the constructors team shops can be very exciting especially if looking at shops is something that interests you.
Absolutely jealous! And that Yuki bear is adorable!
I have no knowledge or interest in F1 but I do enjoy people nerding out in a fun way. Glad to hear the experiencing was so cool!
At the Austrian Grand Prix you normally can buy a pitwalk ticket for around 10€ so it's very very affordable. It's limited and you gotta buy it pretty fast when it's released since it's gonna sell out in around a day but it's 100% worth it. I did it two years ago and I got to do the pitwalk around a busy time and could watch all the teams practice pitstops/work on their cars up close. Also we were allowed to walk around a part of the track and just chill there for over an hour and it was a great photo opportunity. Even got to see/meet both Sebastian Vettel and Carlos Sainz at that pitwalk. It was absolutely amazing and I 100% can understand what you mean by chasing that hype for the rest of your life.
Love that you're checking out other GPs. Though would love to see your reaction to trying to get into a GP as a rube. Maybe Montreal GP where (the last I remember from about 20 years ago) as a rube, you had to submit your request for tickets. But, you may not get your first, second, or third option. Glad you're getting to experience the rich folks version of F1 :) Great information.
Btw if you want to experience Paddock Club for "cheap" in Mexico the tickets are on average 7000 usd for Paddock club, but that would need to be next year because it's already sold out, not only Paddock Club the whole race got sold out in less than a day.
You should come to Montréal. The grand prix is on an island in the city (there's even a subway station!). I don't know if they still do this, but years ago, they had a free open door day on Thursday before the GP.
It’s nice to see others in America get into F1, or just other forms of racing aside from the norm here. I’ve never been to a Grand Prix, but I would love to go to Suzuka the most. Not just because it’s Japan, but because it seems you get the most value out of what you pay based off of other reviews I’ve seen (even if you get the “worst” tickets). Plus I just love the track layout and the S curves so much. I wish I could’ve seen both of the moves Yuki pulled there too around the outside!
I started watching F1 this season because of you covering Vegas last year, Amanda. I was really looking forward to any coverage you might do of some of the American circuits, so this is a LOVELY surprise! I don't think I would have gotten this new little hobby if it wasn't for seeing another 20-somthing woman talking about her interest in it.
I cannot separate formula one from ironman 2 so I only watch these videos in hopes that a large European man will one day walk out on the track with electric whips. Don’t disappoint me, Swell.
Melbourne, Suzuka, and Zandvoort have the best vibes in my opinion, so I was happy to hear about your experience there! I’d like to see you check out different international GPs next year. I’m currently torn between Barcelona as their future is tbd w/the addition of Madrid in 2026, Mexico, and COTA.
I am not shocked with that comparison of the difference between the fans. Americans proving the stereotypes lol
Tbh, I'd seen some f1 stuff over thale last year, but your coverage of the Vegas GP (along with a few others) got me into f1! Now I've watched Vegas, Australia, and Japan live. The only motorsport I've ever really watched, love from Canada ❤🇨🇦
Me too!! I’ve watched every F1 quali and race and started down a full Motorsports hyperfixation.
New to the channel - loved the energy of this, and contrasting types of fans - Singapore Grand Prix resonates with descriptions here hugely
I work as a Motorsport photographer and the thrill of experiencing the speed of any form of racecar pass by is hard to describe. Glad you had a blast at the race. Hopefully I'll get a chance to visit Suzuka soon.
I loved all of your stories / shorts from your trip! Also, you should come to the Montreal Grand Prix, I think you d'like the vibe from that one. also the races are always so fun and full of action!
Always love to watch and hear about your F1 experiences, i hope you get to have more!!! i dont think i’ll get into F1 but it’s so fun watching you fangirl & talk about your fandom!!! 💖
I know it’s not necessarily your content but I’d love a F1 introduction for beginners! There’s so much it’s kind of overwhelming, and also hearing you talk about something you love is always fun!
My husband and I have been to COTA the last 3 years and we’ll be back this fall! We sit in the same seats every year on Turn 15. SO much love for F1 and the drivers! ♥️ Definitely try coming to COTA if you can!
Having been to a lot of different races, I can say that it's always nice to do something new. Doing the same thing every single time is deflating, even if it's a great setup. So I totally get wanting to try the Champions Club.
Suzuka is my favourite track its so smooth! :D this is awesome
That is also my Favorite Anime and Manga
found you through your las vegas gp video and stayed! so excited to see you went to suzuka too ! what a cool experience !!
A car & racing enthusiast from Nagoya here!! Please visit us for the Super GT races at Suzuka (and Fuji, too!) if you can!!
F1 is so international and cool, but if you like Japan and racing, you will see a completely different but wonderful Japanese racing 🏁🏁🏁🏁
im obsessed with watching f1 content, thank you for making this!!
Great video as always! Love the F1 coverage so much, hope I can go some day!
If you wanted to start an f1 podcast i would 100% be here for it, just so you know
Oh that would be great! A video podcast recap of the Sunday races? I'd listen/watch the heck outta that
I live in Austin and do not have any interest in F1 at all, but honestly love your rambles and viewpoints so thank you for loving your hobbies and doing a great job at your job
So happy you got to see the race live! It looked like so fun with the ferris wheel and stuff. I love the Yuki Tsunodabear. It's so cute!
I love seeing your passion! I never really cared about racing but now I can see how cool it is and all the work that does into it! I really appreciate these vids!
The "I'm tired" around 24:50 took me out
I have been to the Suzuka Circuit! I went to Japan on a school trip and we actually got to drive the track in the bus. It was fun!
Youre definitely raising my interest in F1. I never really thought about it before, but I have similar tastes to what you share online so I think I might like it! 😊
So cool seeing you so passionate about this! I want to get into F1 but I have no idea where to start
I hope there's a Japan video to accompany this F1 video. That would be a great pairing.
I'll probably never get to go see a race in person, so I absolutely love being able to experience it through you vicariously 👍🏁🏎
Thanks for this swell video Swell!
As someone who rediscovered her childhood F1 fandom again well into adulthood I am very much enjoying your F1 arc. I'll be going to my first Grand Prix in person this year. Hope I can get to Japan someday it seems amazing.
I loved this video. I admit I'm not keeping up with F1 a lot this season but it's still so interesting to hear about the actual on track experience. I was at a GP once but over a decade ago and with pretty cheap tickets so it's interesting to compare both how time and money change the overall experience. I think if you were to ever make more F1 themed videos Monaco would be the place to make it about, I often wonder about the various fan experiences you get at that place, being so unique/exclusive.
Yuki is a badass; with a real aggressive personality.
I'm a Stake F1 fan; bc of Valtteri Bottas. F1 is like nothing else on Earth; glad you're on board with it.
:0 a Stake fan, make a wish
@@Brams2777 I'm a lifelong Cleveland Browns fan, too; so I'm probably best qualified to back such a team as Stake.
I'm glad you had so much fun at this event, especially after your poor experience in Vegas. Your energy is contagious ✨️
this video came at a perfect time! just as i've sparked an interest in f1 😆 loved hearing the excitement in your voice!!! would you consider coming to the Singapore GP? might be fun comparing night races
The girl selling redbull was cute. That's probably why he bought so many IMO
So awesome to see u talk racing on the channel and not just in your tweets cause I’m a racing fan myself even though I’m a more Indy car fan even though my original plan was when I left the NASCAR fandom in 2020 over started up racing again during the pandemic that became the final straw for me was to go Indy cars and f1 but formula 1 has to many over night races due to time zones difference so I mainly became an Indy car fan
you coming to Japan and chancing to experience the beginning of cherry blossom season while also enjoying the race sounds like a win-win-win!!
I love this for you! I also went to Vegas and was immediately like, when can I go to another one.
Great to see you being passionate about Formula 1 and sharing it with the rest of us.
Perhaps some definites you should try to attend are COTA (Austin), Monaco (It's the Crown Jewel race after all), Spa-Francorchamps (Belgium, a fan and driver favourite, despite the danger), Monza (Italy, The Temple of Speed), maybe Singapore as that's the original Night Race, could be good to compare it to Vegas.
I am so excited, we’re going to Austin in October!
Just discovered your channel and couldn’t subscribe fast enough. Thanks for a great overview 🏎️ 🏁. The Mexico City F1 GP is supposed to be a great experience- maybe you could do that one?
I am so hype for this video!
I loved going to the Spielberg Grand Prix last year. I think it would be a great place to go next!!!
I have found you through formula one, I have been thoroughly enjoying all of your content!!
Hey swell entertainment that's dope! know you're always talking about it it's like your favorite sport so that's pretty cool you got to experience it in Japan plus you got the VIP experience so that's a memory you'll never forget
I love Honda and I love the respect you mention for the international aspect of the sport ❤❤ I watched the Senna documentary on repeat for 2 international flights recently.
So awesome you got to go to F1 Japan! Would love to see a video about Super GT or Formula Drift (US or Japan)! Seeing you get excited about racing is the best!
I saw you in the Narita customs line.... this is all making sense now.
I love your event reviews even if I don't care about the events themselves. perfect content to watch while cooking 💚
GA at the Monaco GP is so much fun! Even in pouring rain
This was SUCH A FUN RACE japan is always so fun, I'm happy you had a chance to go
I just watched a 1-1/2 long F1 iceberg video. I finish & see this. It's an F1 day!
I really like F1 in a way I didn't expect to. I grew up watching NASCAR and it eventually got boring. I always love the courses that were F1 esque. I think they were road races? Anyway, I started watching F1 because of your excitement. I totally get it now.
Ive always wanted to go to an F1 race. I know Ill never be able to go and seeing your 2 F1 race videos just makes me realize that Ill definitely never be able to. Dude you got a track tour of Suzuka! Ive spent hundreds of hours on Suzuka in racing games. Damn amazing experience. (Currently playing F1 23' while listening)
I just did the paddock club in Austin for Moto Gp, man it's going to be hard to go back to the grandstands after that. Looking forward to Vegas this year and hopefully Italy next!
i just hope they dont start the Vegas race at like 1am eastern again
Loved the race
I look forward to every video. Thank you. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
i just want you to know you singlehandedly got me into f1 after your first video, so thanks for the spiral
I made the remark to my mom as I watched the Japan Grand Prix, that You are the reason I got into this sport and now I get excited when its race week and I get to watch the dots move on the map in the F1 app
First time seeing your channel, don’t have time to watch at this moment but will watch later, I really like F1 and this seems like YT is actually recommending something new I’ll like for once lol
Never really thought about formula one until your videos, your videos make the sport accessible to get into, Thankyou!
Maan, my next GP to go to is Silverstone, but Japan is definitely high on the list of where to go after that. Absolutely jealous, cannot wait to get the chance to experience that atmosphere live for myself
I’m getting more and more interested in F1 each time Swell posts a new video about it 🏁🏎️
i live 10 miles from the Indianapolis Motor Speedway so this september i’ll get to see GTP and IMSA cars for my first time!
You should do the Canadian GP in Montreal. It’s an amazing city, and they really turn it on for the GP weekend. There’s F1 themed events all over downtown for the full weekend. It’s a classic circuit that usually has good racing. There’s some really great hotels to stay in right downtown, and then you can just take the subway to the island. The island is great to walk around, and they usually have a lot going on in the infield.
I've only ever been into Marbula 1 (M1) which I feel like has a big overlap with F1 fans, at least from our side of things. cool to get a glimpse into what I see people talking about sometimes
The Suzuka circuit is amazing…i had the chance to go in 2016, and i had tickets at the Dunlop curves. Honestly one of the best circuits on the calendar. One of the bonuses of having a general ticket is that on the Thursday you get pit lane access. I think i spent a good 3 HOURS there…it was absolutely fantastic and i met so many wonderful Japanese fans. After the race, i walked all the way around the track to the last corner before making my way off. Hot tip - if you stay in Yokkachi, its easier to get to the track. You also need to go to Shikoku station and catch the shuttle bus or you can walk to the circuit. Thankfully i had friends who had gone and said to stay there instead, because Nagoya is a good hour away on the train…not so fun after a whole day at the track. Whenever anyone asks which track they should go to, i hands down always say Suzuka. (Ps. Woooo mclaren fan here too! And i need that Suzuka steering wheel pillow in my life!)
I don't enjoy racing, but I appreciate the engineering and technical specialists that work on these machines.
The racing itself both bores and frightens me, but it's nice to see you so excited about the sport ✨
