We also have a leash reactive great dane. Not a clue why this happend, before never had that problem. But after this clip we start working today to fix that problem the way you showed in this movie. So many dogtrainers, so many ways and nothing seems to be working so far, so we start as of today with this method.
Amazing how much skill you have in correcting dogs
what about small dogs? whould you use the same approach?i am worried about my dog safety
What’s your criteria for correcting intense staring? My Cane Corso will calmly walk past dogs unless the other dog is reactive but he will stop and stare at everything that moves. Makes no lunge but a very intense stare. Not sure if it’s his defense drive kicking in and whether I should stop it or let him look
My dog Roxy has similar anxiety, excitement issues with most dogs and people walking outside. Been using similar techniques and is better and probably needs more walk training time. She reacts this way inside and senses people & dogs half a block away. Any suggestions on techniques in the house for outside triggers? We've been using gates and inside leash to get her away from running up to and jumping up to windows but it's more of containment.
When stoping issues like what you're describing, timing is the most important factor. You need to be able to correct the bad behavior the moment it is happening. Try to set up one of these outside triggers so that you are there to correct your dog if they react and reward the moment they don't.
I trained a dog loose leash walking. This owner doesn’t like that I fix the prong up behind the ears of the dog and wants it low and loose. Now the dog starting to pull again and getting used to prong pressure it’s crazy lol
Do you use positive reinforcement?
this is positive reinforcement
Nice. Would a voice only correction be enough if given some more time? Me and wifey have different views on how physical corrections can be without harm.
For Domino a voice only correction would not be enough to break his attention away from the dogs passing in these interactions. I understand people have different training methods - I use a balanced approach which uses tools like prong collars as well as treats and my voice. With prong collars it is important for everyone to understand how to use them properly so that it doesn't causes harm to the dog.
@@realethansteinberg I don’t see how anyone could cause accidental harm with a prong collar. If that correction you did with your entire force of your body didn’t harm it then I doubt it could be done.
How did he used to be with petting and physical affection because when you reached out to pet him He didn’t seem comfortable was you touching him @10:00. Could it just be nervousness due to the presence of dogs maybe? I’m the one who’s doing the majority of the corrections of our new puppy and I don’t want corrections to be something makes me fall out of favor with my beloved puppy
Can I find out about board and training please?

So my dog is extremely reactive to other dogs when we walk, but he lunges and screams. I don’t know what to do 😢
Same case here. Everytime your dog tries to lunge and bark, firmly say no and THEN pull on the leash, not continuously but one firm pull. If your dog reacts positively (it means giveing up on the other dog and connecting with you) you reward. Pay attention, the reward must only occur if there is no bad response from your dog, otherwise, you may encourage this bad behaviour since your dog gets a reward just after. Hope I'm being clear. Don't give up, my wife and I were in the same situation with our Aussie who wanted to play too much with the other dogs...
We have a dog with this exact level of reactiveness. He is a smaller dog, Bichon frise. We live in Norway where prong collars are illegal, so we can’t use that. What methods and tools would you use in that case? 😊
I'd recommend using a spring loaded slip leash with the same methods used in this video. You can do it!
