When I first played this album, in 1986, my heart sank into my shoes. If it wasn’t for the familiar vocals of Justin and John I probably would have discarded it after playing the first side. However I had to come to terms with the times were in and the mellotron and flute are in the past, but never forgotten. Looking back over the decades now this band have moved with the times and left a tremendous legacy. Now I can enjoy young people reacting to their works, though there are still many songs uncovered…..
After Mike Pinder left the band (after their 9th album, 'Octave'), they became more pop-oriented and less classical oriented. This album was a later album without Mike, so you can see the difference.
A 70 year old that doesn't know this song but recognized vocals instantly.
Fun change! Would love some from the Octave album. "I'll be Level With You" & "One Step Into The Light"
In Your Wildest Dreams on the same album is more like the Moody Blues.

Patrick Moraz took over on keyboards and had quite the impact. Didn't last long though, lol.
@@Louis5900 Patrick gave them that 80s synth sound, similar to how ELO changed from the 70s to the 80s.
A song they did that if you never heard it before , you would never think it was the Moody Blues is
Go Now.
Great cover of the Bessie Banks original!
@@iandowney4630 Yep.
If you haven't already, "Ride My See-Saw" and "I know You're out there somewhere" are good ones also!
Grew up with The Moody Blues and always thought they were different and cool all at same time and i have the original album
It sounds like it would be a good soundtrack for some of these anime series
A John Lodge number.
