The "Dance Group" at the end are all german streamers/youtuber/meme loards. The blond guy in the middle is Kalle Koschinsky. He made that dance routine as his 200k subscriber special and he also has song with Eskimo Callboy ("Castrop x Spandau" and it's in german but still an awesome banger). The guy with the black afro is HandOfBlood who has 2million subscribers and he also is the main character in Eskimo Callboy's "MC Thunder I + II".
I highly recommend "MC Thunder I & II" (part 1 is with their old singer Sushi) and all 7 Remix Versions of "Hypa Hypa"!!! 7 different german artists and bands covered "Hypa Hypa" in their style (Pop by Sasha, Folk Metal by Saltatio Mortis, Country by The Boss Hoss, Hip Hop by The 257ers, Metal Ballad by Axel One, Techno by Gestört aber Geil and Metalcore by We Butter The Bread With Butter). Every version is truly amazing and the videos are funny AF.
Oh and if you want something more serious from Eskimo Callboy, I recommend "Crystals" (again with their old singer Sushi) and "Hate/Love" (with the new singer Nico).
    Enjoy the rabbit hole!!!

About that contest.. 6 generic pop songs got chosen over Pump It and a lot of people are REALLY pissed right now because we would've had a chance of winning for once.. Every year the same gremium of old guys in charge who have no actual relation to what people like nowadays is responsible for choosing the song for Germany and we're now kind of famous for scoring dead last with super generic crap every time. "Germany zero points" has become kind of a meme. The video where Eskimo Callboy announce that they've not been chosen has more views on RUclips than the actual original music videos of the 6 chosen songs combined..

    • @Nea-van-R.
      @Nea-van-R. 2 года назад +3

Imo, they did that on purpose.
The winner is the host for the next year, and that costs a lot of money.
And of course they would also have to play the Song on the Radio if they win. With all the pc/cancell culture bs 'im besten Deutschland aller Zeiten' it would probably have been a big Problem for 'these ppl' to explain some of the lyrics and of course the Name.
I actually feel sorry for ppl who are like that. It's certainly very hard to have fun if you're having a stick (probably it's not only a stick but a whole tree) up your ass as far as they obviously do..

They decided to introduce Nico to the fans with a no holds barred over the top all in song and video which was Hypa Hypa (mission accomplished). The follow up single Hate/Love is quite different but still a great song and a stylish video worth watching.
The Eurovision Song Contest is a multi-national yearly competition since 1956 (2020 was the only year skipped because of everybody knows why). EC applied for the German preliminary decision but didn't make it into the final 6 which led to some protests, even from people who are not into their music, because of the lack of diversity in musical style (all selected songs are pretty much "radiofriendly" pop music).

If you're really into this talented band, go to Eren Yeager's channel and watch a 50min live concert (w no audience bc of covid) Eskimo Callboy live Wacken 2020. With Nico on vocals. Not all of their songs have silly videos or concepts...but they are all fantastic and exciting!

One dimension of the humor that is hard or impossible to get for Non-European people reacting to it, is that this isn't really making fun of early 80s aesthetics. What this is really making fun of is that in parts of Europe, mostly Germany and the Netherlands, working class dudes where running around like that waaay past the early 80s, all the way up till the late 90s and it was really embarrassing.
You had all those tone-deaf dudes who had peaked in high school ("Al Bundy" from "Married with Children" style) in the 80s, still wearing the mustache and the mullet and thinking they look cool as 30 and 40 year olds in the 90s, long after the rest of the world had moved on.
That is what this music video and the song really makes fun of.
That is why the combination of the early 80s looks for the guys with the more late 90s / early 2000s style outfit of the girl and the 90s style "Backstreet Boys" Boy Band soft segment in the middle of the song, makes sense.
Also the name of the song, "Hypa Hypa" is a parody of 90s era party rave techno music that was dominating Europe in the 90s. One of the biggest acts of that scene and time was some talent less hack computer DJ called "Scooter" and his biggest hit was a song called "Hyper Hyper".
So what they are making fun of are those super embarrassing, uncool working class dudes (Not being classist here, I'm working class too.) running around like it was still the 80s in the late 90s and hanging around in dance clubs and on rave parties, listening to 90s music and trying to pick up girls.
Of course Australians, Americans and others who weren't around Central Europe in the 90s have no way of knowing any of this, which is why most assume that this is just about the 80s and then are confused about all the "un-80s" elements of it.

@@Xtreme4Life No reason to thank me. I have seen a bunch of reaction videos to this song and have seen almost all the people reacting either being confused about this, or just not noticing the contrast between 80s and 90s elements in the video.
Even Europeans who just are too young and haven't been around back in the 90s, don't know what this is about.
I've been a teen living in Germany and for a while back then pop culture in the German speaking world (including Austria and Switzerland) had been all about making fun of those guys with mullets and mustaches.
One element the video doesn't include is that that "guys stuck in the 80s" culture was also heavily linked to all of them driving a certain car, the "Opel Manta". That thing was kind of a cheap German muscle car (not very powerful out of the factory, but easy to tune and modify) and super popular with those working class guys. They had their "Manta Clubs" where they met on the weekends and raced each other and compared their modifications and the ludicrous stereo systems they built into those things.
And the rest of Germany made fun of them for it. Manta jokes were a huge fad back then, making fun about how dumb Manta drivers supposedly were.
      Here two examples:
The shortest German (translated, of course) joke ever: "A Manta is parked on a university's parking lot."
The joke being that Manta drivers are way too dumb and uneducated to ever get near a university.
      Or here a better one:
A Manta and another car are waiting at a red traffic light. The mullet and mustache wearing Manta driver has a parrot on his shoulder. The driver of the other car rolls down his window and calls out: "Hey! Does he talk?"
Then the parrot looks at him and calls back: "I don't know!"
There even was a whole series of comedy movies in the 90s making fun of Manta drivers and that whole culture.
This music video is a callback to that, but for obvious reasons, the joke is lost on most people.

Hi, new sub here! Can you please react to Gigi De Lana’s live performance cover of Fly Me to the Moon?
(Official channel is: Gigi De Lana and the Gigi Vibes)
It’s a pleasant surprise! Probably one of the best covers of this song, imo. The performance is actually taken from a 2 hour livestream where they take song requests from viewers. It’s received a lot of international reactions based on how the band totally changed up the song, but I would like your take on it. She’s a rising star in the Philippines (singer, actress, model) but her passion is music and her RUclips channel has blown up in the last year. Her other covers/songs have also had millions of views, but I think this particular performance is worth watching. Please check her out and let us know what you think. Thanks! Let me know if you need the link. 😊
