- This is the large size fire pit from CampingMoon. I have been using this in the backyard and a couple trips over the last few months and must say that I really enjoy this fire pit. It works well and has held up nicely I don't see any signs of damage or warping. I went to my local hardware store and found a 12x12 piece of expanded metal lathe to put inside the pit so the charcoal is raised up and has a larger surface area underneath the cooking grate. I only use this while I am barbecuing. I also leave the cast iron in the bottom as well to retain heat this seems to be a very good combination for this unit. I definitely recommend this $10 upgrade if you plan to do a decent amount of cooking on it.

So what size is that metal lap because you said 12x12 in the beginning and then later in the video you said 10x10?

would you rather this firepit over the fireside firepit?
Oh yes I would rather have this 100% over the fire side fire pit. You have to keep replacing the stainless steel mesh every few times it is used it which not many people really explain to you that the stainless steel mesh gets brittle and just becomes useless. They wear out even faster if you are trying to cook something. Camping moon is a far more durable product and far superior if you are wanting to do any sort of cooking with your product. Oh yeah and it's way easier to set up and looks cooler.!
