I love watching these videos, especially the longer ones that show people just going about their shipboard lives. My father, an old tin can sailor from the early 70s, enjoys seeing how things are done in today's Navy as well. He'd probably enlist again if he could.
That replica my first ship we still got most unreps in navy most pallets sent other major records think not been broken not for sure but we did do 7 deployments to Indian ocean for this duty. We was called The orient express afs4 uss white plains 7th fleet supply mars class ship there was six of us Made long long hours at sea but got to go places no everyday citizen would go All over Asia Accept Vietnam an Malaysia and India and Indonesia never there but all other orient cities
Both ships have that capability. However, it is actually slower and more dangerous than VertRep. ConRep allows one pallet at a time and the trolley needs to make the full trip over and back before the next pallet is hooked up. With a ConRep the pallets are staged on deck and moved by forklift to the loading area, placing personnel, forklifts, and moving cargo all in close proximity. With a VertRep, the cargo is staged prior to the evolution, and danger to crew is reduced down to the one man on the helo deck hooking the load up to the helicopter. "Faster" really doesn't come into play anyways. The stripes on the funnel of the supply ship indicate that it is a USNS ship, NOT a US Navy ship. It is owned by the US Navy, but crewed by civilians. "Faster" all depends upon how hard a crew of Good Union Men with an average age of around 55 feel like working on a given day. I was stationed onboard an actual commissioned ship (USS Vs. USNS) which performed the exact same function as the supply ship shown. We could be pumping fuel across to the receiving ship while most USNS ships were still playing with getting the cables across and tensioned up.
@@EgoFiveFiveSix it’s a floating military airfield ! Less handling could be critical when the ship is in action. Manual handling is sensible for backup.

I've never noticed the flight pattern and attitude of the replenishing helicopters to be like this. Very interesting!

Not real coherent.
Oh, the memories, getting qualified as OOD underway. That view of coming alongside (what a rush).
In the Vietnam war, the USA fought with an army with no an air force, 58,000 American were killed, 300,000 wounded.
My ❤️😘🤗
I wonder why they don't just send provisions over by a cable between the two ships? Seems like it could be faster and cheaper than by helo.

Welcome to southchina sea, and take care of yourself
Ordnance on load and off load is always fun.. IYAOYAS!!!
Surprised at the amount of handling. I expected forklift to elevator to storage room on a carrier.
it's not a floating warehouse.
