Open and close EGR with a good scan tool. Check wiring to pcm. It is the only way to actually diagnose it. Most of the time it is a failed EGR. If the part is under warranty, I would return it as defective, get a new replacement, clear codes, and see if it's fixed. If not, the car may require surgery.
I immediately laughed when you said "these EGR valves are extremely easy to fix".
I'd suggest covering the alternator so if ya drop anything, or scrapings from gasket won't go down inside it.
An alternator has cooling fins inside them that blow all kinds of junk through them to keep them cool. Least of my worries. Thanks for watching.
My code just popped. How long do I have to replace this without hurting the engine? Weather sucks right now
I looked into my crystal ball. I got nothing.
I had the p0404 like 7 months ago i replaced it. Brand new. The same code came back today p0404. What would you do in that case?
