The Cavs went to the Conference Finals that year. Not to mention the MVP is a Regular Season award, so playoffs matter none. Miami gained the 5 spot in the east, and they probably would have been down with the Wizards without Wade. LeBron and the Cavs had a great season, but Wade got shafted, plain and simple. If you compared their 2009 playoff performances, no question James was better.
