I found this fascinating! I live in California and was curious about how wealthy people hire staff and what these folks do! Thank you for enlightening me!

Titles matter! I was hired once as just a plain housekeeper and was very clear that though I had supervisory experience I did not want to have those responsibilities. Yes, the head housekeeper was packing her things as I arrived, all in all just not a good thing.
Estate manager to me means managing the gardens, woods, and livestock as well as house exterior maintenance. I love employers who can be clear about things!

This is very interesting. Here in France we only have one word for butler and major domo which is majordome.

Simeon, May I ask you please to increase the volume capability when you post. Many of your videos are somewhat difficult to hear on full volume on various devices. Many thanks. Thoroughly enjoy your videos.

Hi yes absolutely I am looking at getting a more professional set up for the videos so the volume levels should be much better.
      Thanks for your message

'Great info. here. Rachel Stallard is spot on. At leaat, from what I've uncovered w/all the info./research I've had to recently amass -- to see about hiring an Estate Manager. The clarity re: qualifications are what's important -- titles are so relatively-subjective (anymore) what would be the point in being overly precious about titles, when -- most ppl will always have their own view of what it unofficially is going to mean, o them (no matter what, anyhow)? She's so broadly experienced (and, plain BRILLIANT)? Thank you, good sir!

Is it possible to remix the Audio? Its unfortunately somewhat grating on the ears.

Not likely in post. Attempts could be made, but there's not much that can be done when the recorded audio is poor quality. This is why it's important to "fix it on set".

Hello -- I STILL look down on "new money." Well, at least on "new money" that doesn't know how to act and behave!

Doesn't know how to act, according to whom? Please allow me to introduce you to 2021, as long as you are not hurting anyone else and it makes you comfortable and happy act any damn way you please. After all my dear, you will be the one with a stiff neck from looking down so frequently. I'll take the person who made their way over someone who only has means because great grandpapa made his fortune on the railroads.

I know what you mean. Old money are the sort who, if you are consulting about something in the garden and their friend comes by, they introduce you. New money doesn't (generally). It's about respect. New money tends to still have very suburban kind of manners :(
