I'm not surprised at all. I've been using my Flip 3 for two years now (to be precise, it'll be full two years on 21st of Aug), and it's in PERFECT condition. Screen, hinge, it all works as it did on day one. Samsung truly deserves praise for their foldables.
Had the Flip 3 for a year and the 4 after that without issues, just got the 5 today. If you can treat yourself to an upgrade, the hinge gets nicer to use with each model!
@jngobngo I don't see a reason to upgrade this year, to be honest. I always upgrade my phones every 1.5-2 years, this is the first one I'll keep longer. It just works.
@slourpblblbl9711 once, after a year, I started noticing bubbles in the crease area. It started peeling off there, but didn't come off completely. I was scared that the screen got damaged initially, but thankfully, it was just the protector. It was replaced in an hour in a local Samsung store. Except for this, there's 0 issues with my flip.

Not only that the Z Flip has lasted 2 times as long as the manufacturer states , it has beaten a competitor that broke down more than twice as fast as motorola itself states , not to mention that rather what the Z Flip went through is .... super unlikely :). Most people keep their phones for about say 3years. Thats flipping your flip 5, at least 100 times a day every singoe day for 3 years straight and it will still be fine. The Flex window, working now full screen negates the need to flip all the time. So really this phine will comfortably work 4 years.
Samsung is the new Nokia. Their fold flip dont break. Thier super thin tablet doesn't bend and attacks back. The smartphone works even after taking a bullet through it. I mean what black magic are they making their phones with ?
Actually, continuous opening and folding would introduce another weakening factor to the hinge, which is called" Metal fatigue" basically the weakening of metals due to repeated stressing or loading of the material. Basically, if the same amount of fold/open applied to the same phone, the one with per say, 1000 continuous folds in 1 day would be weaker than the phones that have 1000 folds in the span of 1 month, because then the material can be rested and not be tired(fatigue). Hence, i suspect that the actual durability of the hinge is better (i dont know by how much) than in this video, which is a good thing imo. Im not an expert in the field or something but its common sense if u study the subject long enough!
I don't the k any of the team wants to do this again at least until the fold 6 comes out lol. I wonder if any of them will ever want a folding phone for themselves after the continuous folding of this one haha
Actually all these extremes add up a little bit of reality factor. In its life cycle your phone is a subject to falls, temperature changes, dirt, dust etc which will affect its durability. Daily used phone is not going to reach its full potential of "folds" because these factors are going to cause accumulating micro damage over time.
126,000 folds. Let's ignore the fact that I'm sure the phone was folded and unfold as fast as it could possibly be and ignore the heat from friction and the most likely over use of force to get it to fold and unfold rapidly to count. If I opened and closed my phone 100 times a day it would still take me 3.5 years to reach 126,000 folds, and I'll be doing it much more gently as an owner of a phone than some test. Note: I won't be coming anywhere close to opening and closing the phone 100 times a day, and if I were, I might as well just buy a normal phone. Let's be practical here and cut out the useless statistics.

That's quite good for the flip 5 the fold 5 wouldn't stand half of that! Mine was 3 months old 2 weeks ago it split right up the middle when closed it this time! Phone was always in case and microfibered screen wipped everytime and it still gave up! My fold 4 lasted 8 months under same care, I have just got a new fold 5 replacement under warranty they were quick at sending it out 7 day's but still not been opened I'm back to my old Samsung s21 ultra just now I'm done with the folds for now! Just can't trust them
Well every phone will give up and start malfunctioning after such a rough durability test. People those who say that z flip 5 is not durable this is an eye opener video for all those people who doubt on z flip 5 durability. Z Fold 5 please, Please if you haven't read the new data in Samsungs own extreme temp tests do one in hotter temps they say the durability looses 25% and 80% in colder temperatures
dumb question did Samsung ever fix the issue between the fold in hot and cold environments like okay it's winter time you go outside you open up your phone and then you bring it back in and you fold it up and then the plastic cracks because the screensaver just cracked the plastic screen and the inside that's how the inside foldable phones have been breaking it's during the winter time going from outside to inside and the actual screensaver is what's causing the break in the inner screen

Hard drives, optical drives, floppies, even optical image stabilization is being replaced by digital one in sport cameras, cause it's more robust. Ball mouses replaced with purely optical ones. Even buttons are being removed everywhere, cause it's mostly better to have touch screen. What went wrong, that someone thought, that it would be great to introduce fragile moving parts to phones again?

Omg! After you've shown that pink vertical line, I'm shocked & stunned that the z flip 5 screen also can have the vertical line too🫢!My current Samsung phone have 3 different colors of vertical lines on the screen already.
I Guarantee that it does not do well 32 and below on i know its not a 5 but my three it shattered my screen protector and cause the lsft crest to come up a lil then a year and half later it finally came completely up so 25% top and 25% bottom visible on my screen
