And it wasn't limited to marijuana. RDJ spent over 2 years of his life serving time in jail and prison because of the addiction, not to mention time spent in rehab. That info comes from interviews that RDJ has done over the years, so it's not too hard to verify.

RDJ has played Tony Stark as a resentful son who didn't get to spend a lot of time with his father. As that same character, he was also a loving father who had to leave his daughter to save the world. RDJ has also portrayed a complex father-son relationship in The Judge, and he also played Chaplin, who was abandoned by his father at a very young age. P.S. Death comes to us and allows us to shed our tears for the love and loss. Seeing your father reminds me of my own, they both have a noble character hat doesn’t allow them to really say the pain that could be happening. Instead we get to witness a letting go that is the last or next natural event. Hearts grow larger and expand to new heights….and it’s only the physical form that is gone. But during sleep they are alive and still communicating to us, since we have our guards down. 🌸❤💕

When he says "you never know the hour & the day" hits me hard because last summer my Dad got diagnosed with cancer because his shoulder broke (exactly where mine did 15 years ago) and they found tumor, he did radiation & then after the docs were talking 85% reduction so far, possible full remission. Then 2 weeks later his back hurt, turned out after radiation there were 12 more different places the day before Father's Day, they gave him 12-18 months. He died 4 days later, not 12-18 months.
Never know the hour or the day. 😞

Robert Downey, Jr. I have been watching you for years. Hands down. This documentary speaks volumes of your heart and soul. The love of your parents, upbringing and love for your foundation and roots in life. I lost my mother in March 4, 2021. Two months later, lost dad, May 4, 2021. Four months later I lost my brother, Sept, 2021. Unexpectedly broken in two, I retired May 2022 after teaching for almost 4 decades. Time slips by. Kudos and Bravo to you, dear man. I love how you have made lemonade out of the lemons in your life. Being grateful turns it all around . Your father and mother are delightful, and honest. I adore and love your work and devotion. Warm wishes for staying the course...

After a decade of living on the other side of the country to my dad, we built up a really good relationship during covid. I ended up moving home to be closer to him in March 2021, uprooted my career and made the journey back. Our relationship was really good. At the end of July 2021 he passed very suddenly. It absolutely broke me, but in my grief I discovered from his wife that he and I had been so similar, in personality and behaviour, but I never knew. I keep a box of his things to remind me that I was never alone, there was one more like me. Really looking forward to this movie.
